Vintage Metal Fishing Rod Holder Down East Sport Craft - Completely Adjustable
I found this the other day in one of the boxes we are slowly going through. I have never seen one before like it. And I was impressed with the all metal construction and the heft of this holder. it is obviously well made and meant to last, and it has remarkably well. All is working and functional, it adjust to your needs. I have an old wooden row boat circa 1930s. I have only put period pieces on it to keep it"right" I do not know the age of this holder. But I would put it on my boat just for its beautifully crafted mechanics. Even if it is newer than 80 years old. It is well made and all metal, no plastic here. Along with many pieces of furniture. 1 of her pieces has been on the Antique Road Show. I built a 7000 sq. foot building to accommodate all her collections. She never opened a box. She died about 6 years ago. And we have just begun the process of going through the boxes ourselves. It is an arduous process. Some items will go to concession dealers. Some are given away, some things donated, some are kept and some things are offered here. I used to write a bit of the history at the beginning of each ad. Measures 11 ¾” long, 4 ¾” tall and 2” deep. Well constructed no chips, no cracks, no breaks and no repairs. Wood surface does show dents and scratches from age and use. All paint very good condition.
