This auction is for a vintage Penn Peer 109 fishing reel that I picked up at an estate sale. The reel is in excellent condition. Line was put on the reel but it does not appear to have been put on a rod. The reel foot does not have any scratches as would usually happen when installed on a rod. Browning Revolver Centrepin Fishing Reel. Limited Edition Number 210. Boxed.
This an unused example of the very collectable and very usable Browning Revolver Centrepin Fishing Reel. The reel is one of a Limited Edition and is numbered 210. It comes in its makers purpose built wooden box which carries the engraved brass Revolver by Browning Name Plate. The reel is beautifully made in Aluminium which has an anodised finish in a colour I find difficult to describe. A weak wine red with a metallic tint may do it. The reel has gold coloured printing on the backplate. The back plate also carries the on/off Ratchet Switch. The spool of the reel is drilled in a pattern of large and small holes around both front and rear flanges. The reel is ventilated front and rear with 6 spokes to both sides. Two opposing spokes on the front carry the spool release bar and the drum tension adjuster. It has an anular line guide which can ... morebe switched to adapt the reel for left or right handed use. I know absolutely nothing about fishing reels so I have included 3 photos so that anyone interested can determine if this is complete or if some parts are missing. I have noted that there is some wear to one part and one of the photos attempts to show this. I am assuming that the reel has never been used but I don't know if this is a fact. the worn part may be through use or some of the coating being removed through age.
