Up for bid is a Taxidermy Largemouth Bass. This is a Skin Mount fish and was caught in a Lake in Sumter. SC. This is a whopper of a fish measuring over 22 inches long and about a 17 inch girth. This bass was caught in 1993 as shown in photo 4. Which also has the person's name that caught it. This plaque can be removed by removing 2 tiny screws. This is an estate sale find and is being sold AS IS. I AM NOT a Taxidermist and know nothing about taxidermy. Please look at photo 9, it shows the back of the fish that is mounted, does not have the eye.I guess it was cheaper for it to be taxidermied this way. Large 38 1/2" Mounted Barracuda -Vintage Taxidermy
Awesome. Large, Vicious Mounted 38 1/2" Barracuda! OK. I don't know squat about taxidermy(fish especially) so I'm counting on you experts out there to hip me to the facts. I don't understand the whole fish replica/cast from a real fish thing. This thing, in many ways looks real to me, and in others not so much. There are scales-the fiberglass ones don't seem to have them. The fins and gills aren't plaster or fiberglass, but they seem like brittle paper.and they seem real to me as well. Yes, the mouth is filled with plaster and there is almost no detail on the wall side of the'cuda. What I do know is that this thing is around 60 years old. It's in very nice condition, but it has some(fixable? issues. The front pectoral fin has a crack in it(see photo 2) it isn't a break and I believe that it can be easily ... moremended and touched up. some of the scales have come off of the mid-section(see photo 3) there are some teeth missing and there are some small spots around the mouth where the paint has flaked off(photo 4) None of these things are quickly noticeable when taking the fish in as a whole; the only thing going through your mind is that you're glad that you're not in the water with this freakin' nightmare. Nice taxidermy fish. Not sure if it is a Tuna or a Bonita, might be neither one. The mount is old, loose from the wood but still hanging on good enough to hang, has a slight bend in one of the fins, just a cool man room mount. I have not cleaned it, it might shine a little more when cleaned. Been in storage for a while. No I do not know how old it is. It is 27" long. Huge 61" Yellowfin Tuna Fish Taxidermist Taxidermy Mount Trophy Size
No shipping as he is much too large and fragile to ship. This is an estate item and the mold was taken of the actual fish. It measures 61 1/4" long from a straight line taken from the center of the back fins to the tip of the mouth. If you measure at a slight diaganal from the upper rear tail to the tip of the mouth it is 62 1/2" long. The girth around the center of the fish is 40 1/4" and it measures 27" from the tip of the upper fin to the tip of the lower fin. Mounted on the wall he extends 16 1/2" from the wall. Condition is very good with some minor cracks and rubs. Colors are beautiful. We gave him a quick wiping but you can still see some smeary dust on him and the mouth is still loaded with dust as we forgot to wipe it. If you would like to pick up my zipcode is 17363. This is a nice looking vintage largemouth bass taxidermy mount. It measures about 20" in length. And the real skin was used in the mount. There is a small crack on the top of the head area(pictured) which appears to have been repaired at some point and is barely noticeable. There is also a mark on the side of the gill area(pictured) I'm not sure if that was on the live fish or not, it's minor but still worth mentioning. The perfect specimin of a 8 and 1/2 foot long PACIFIC SAILFISH caught in Costa Rica in 1994 just as the laws were changing regarding" catch& release" regulations. This is a sailfish recognition plaque from an Acapulco taxidermy company. Date of sailfish catch is 01/03/1970. By a female angler. Fish measured 8'1" long. Nice fish! Pancake size) Two Crappies that are 12" long and mounted on driftwood with moss and other plants. The whole setup is 48" x 27" Each fish is mounted with a wire and hook so it can be removed and cleaned. They are all numbered as to where they belong.
