I doubt anyone would know the difference. No wear marks, scratches, rips or anything. I took lots of photos, with flash and without flash so you can see every detail. Lot of 13 Bass Pro Shops Hobbs Creek fly fishing rod and reel cases. Approximate dimensions are 28.5" long with a 2.5" diameter. These are all from a lot of returned merchandise from Bass Pro Shops. Most show very little wear and I tested the zippers and all work smoothly. One has the name Mike written on it in Sharpie and two have what looks like coffee stains. Two or three more have some dirt on them. I believe that these were part of a package sold with a rod and when the rod broke. The customer returned the rod and the case. Just my best guess. One of the tips is 34-1/4 inches& the other tip is 31-1/2 inches. Also has 2 canvas storage socks, one for the tip sections& one holds all pieces including aluminum brass tube tip container, tube about 39 inches. The pieces have not been put together in a long time, i put one piece one a little bit and it was to tight to completely slide on because a grease like protective lubricant has waxed up. so i decided not to put the rest of the rod together& allow the new owner of this rod to clean the fittings& re-lubricate the fittings, Thus i cannot tell you the ... moreassembled length of the rod. i pulled the piece back apart of course& the good popping sound was heard when i seperated them, this is good, it looks to me like all the pieces fitting will clean up nicely& fit snuggly after proper work. Up for bids is a beautiful vintage 8'6" 3/1 bamboo fly rod. Rod maker unknown- no ID present upon examination. It is super straight with a superb finish and appears that all parts are original. Most likely redone- but do not know rod's history. It has the old rattan grip and unusual tip which may indicate from the 1930s? My knowledge on these is limited so if you have any input it would be appreciated. I try and describe to the best of my ability. Pictures are hopefully the most informative for you- and my best ally for describing the rod- please view carefully. All the guides and wraps are present. Tight and without flaws. Ferrules fit well and have the distinct pop when separated. Hook keeper also present. Measurements- butt@35" Mid-section@35" and tip@34 7/8" I believe all original in length even though slight ... moredifference. The rod weighs 8.3 ounces. Maybe a little heavy but what a rod! Am guessing the line weight to be a#6. I am including a vintage Peerless aluminum tube and newer sock. Certainly not original but want to provide protection for such a fine rod! For sale at a buy it now fixed price is this vintage tooled leather fly wallet. It is a classic. With the felt leaves for holding your flies. Right out of an old Denver estate, this is as found. I would guess the wallet is from the 1940s or 1950s. The flies are all snelled wet flies, the flies most commonly used at the time. Most of the flies look to be about size 12 and there is a variety of different flies, with very few that are the same pattern. We count 80 flies but there might be one or two more or less. This is an Exceptional Handmade Antique Walnut Fly Rod Box. Scroll Down to see 11 additional photos. The information that we got about this piece is that it came from an estate with fishing equipment consisting of the box with a fly rod. Several reels, and other fishing gear. The people we bought the box from had already opted to sell the rod and reels separately, and when we found the box, the other items were already sold. I have no reason to doubt this information but I found through online research that some fly rods have sections longer than this box will accomodate. So if you wish to purchase it for a specific fly rod, please review the measurements below to ensure the size is adequate for your purpose. This wonderful box has superb aesthetics and workmanship and it could be used for other purposes as well, or simply for a nice display ... morepiece in its own right. The box has a number of excellent construction features. Most of these features are seen and/or annotated on the photos. These features include Mortise and Tenon- It appears the entire top was made from three pieces: a wide center piece and two side pieces. The three pieces were then assembled with mortise and tenon joints on left and right respective. A closeup photo shows the tenon on the front edge. The top was then cut lengthwise to accomodate the hinges. As a result. You see the tenon not only at the back edge outside as well, but also inside on the opposing surfaces where the main section of the top abuts the rear piece where the hinges are mounted. Tongue and Groove- The bottom panel is attached to the front panel and side panels via tongue and groove construction Compound Bevel- The bottom panel was thicker than the cabinetmaker wished to accomodate for the tongue and groove. As a result. The front edge of the bottom and both sides were hand beveled to a thinner edge profile, meeting in a angle at the two corners as seen in two closeup photos Dove Tails- The side panels are hand dovetailed. I believe this one dates to the 1930’s-1940’s and is constructed of a hard fiber material with metal caps on both ends. Has a brown/ maroon color, the paper tag reads“Turner Bros. Wellington Ohio Fine Protection For Fishing Rods” measures approximately 49” long when completely closed, the short section measures 2 ¼” outside diameter and the long section measures 2” outside diameter, when completely opened it extends to approximately 76” long before the two pieces separate and it actually creates a vacuum as you close so you can adjust length. This is an aluminum fishing lure box for flies. It measures 6 1/4" X 3 1/4" There are 5 flies in the box. I believe all hand made. see pics) The condition is good. Shows signs of wear but the lid still closes with a snap. My knowledge about fishing lure is minimal so the pictures will have to tell it all. for sale here is a pair of large 6" x 3.5" deep wheatley boxes.
