Lovely Bawo & Dotter Elite Works Limoges Porcelain Compote Bowl early 1900s
This auction is for a Lovely and Rare Compote or Pedestal Bowl made by Bawo& Dotter. Elite Works of Limoges France in the early 1900s. This piece was a recent estate sale discovery from an avid Limoges collector. I left the notes made by the previous owner on tape at the bottom of the piece. They describe the backstamps and other details of the piece. Which dates from 1900-1914. The piece stands about 5 1/4 inches tall and is 9 1/4 wide at the upper bowl. Some might consider this a compote; others a small centerpiece bowl or a pastry stand. Either way. It is lovely. It is white porcelain with sponge applied gold edging and images of yellow. Green and purple flowers. There are no chips or cracks. The colors are bright and images are clear. This is a classic Limoges Bawo& Dotter(Elite Works) antique plate. It has three marks that date it ca. 1900-1914. The marks indicate that the plate was handpainted by a factory artist. The signature of the well known Limoges artist Mary is on the front. The plate depicts large yellow flowers with pink in the center and light green leaves outlined in gold. Light blue inner border and gold outer border. The plate measures 8 1/2" diameter and is in excellent condition. No chips. Cracks, repairs. This is a gorgeous Limoges serving dish hand painted with a simple depiction of a pink& blue flower and green& brown stems& leaves. It has an ornate gold wavy rim. It measures 12" x 6" Stands 1-1/2" high and is in perfect condition. Bawo& Dotter was established in New York City in the 1860's to import porcelain into the United States. In the early 1870's they established the Elite Works in Limoges to decorate porcelain made by other factories. This Decorator Mark. Mark B25C, was used between 1870& 1880. The company closed in 1930.

This is actually almost pristine, as I really can't find any flaws. The heavy gilt handle along with the gilt trim along the scallop, along with the four gilded feet accent the gorgeous and unusual paisley style ornamentation along the last inch of the top. It has luscious leaf shaped paisley border, with sweet paisley accent leaves beneath. Very stunning piece that I am selling for a dear friend. This listing is for a large platter. It measures 14 1/4" by 10" oval by 1 1/2" high at the outer edges. There is a raised scroll design in the china around the top edge of the bowl. The dinner plates each have a chip on the rim. Same with the two salad plates and of the three saucers, two have chips. None of these chips are larger ... morethan a split pea or so in size. All are usable, and I'm offering them with a nod to their conditon. The pieces are fully marked with both the green Elite L France mark and another factory mark in red. The factory mark states Elite with the letters S and M with what looks like a man with a halo and some other characters. This is a Bawo and Dotter mark. Antique Bawo & Dotter Lamoges Powder Box -Hand Painted Bouquet of Roses -c 1900
Up for Consideration… Stunning Antique Powder Jar with romantically hand painted roses. The bottom is marked in green Elite Limoges France dating the beautiful piece from between 1896 and 1920. Bawo& Dotter started to imported Limoges porcelain into New York from France when it was established in the 1860s. The company closed in 1932. This Powder Jar measures approx. 3 1/4” high X 6” wide 19 1/4” in circumference. The hand painted bouquet of roses are lovely shades of soft burgundy and yellow with a rich background of leaves. The jar is in excellent condition with no cracks or crazing of the finish. There is one tiny chip and one fleabite on the gold painted rim of the bottom half of the box. Antique Carlsbad China ~BDB ~ 6 small plates~ floral design ~ Bawo & Dotter
You are bidding on six(6) small cake/salad plates 6 inch diameter with gold trimmed scalloped edge with a hand painted floral design. These plates are in very good condition considering their age. The gold trim on the edge is worn and two of the plates have a craze lines. And some small nicks on the bottom base, couldn't get them to show up in the photos. I have done some research and have found the following, and it appears that these plates are over 100 years old with the backstamp dating before 1891. Bawo& Dotter- Rybáre. Czech Republic(Fischern, Bohemia, Austria) 1883 first founded a decorating studio here. Shortly they began manufacturing porcelain. I've determined Elite Works along with Bawo Dotter are the maker and designer. The marks are red urn from Bawo Dotter with red Elite Works inside the urn and the green anchor from A. Lanternier. Who is the artist. All of these marks date from the mid to late 1800's. The artwork is very vivid and crisp. You can feel the detail of the enamel embelishments. The star shaped flowers are bursting with colors purple, blue, red, and gold, on flowing vines over pale pink ribbon. Antique Bawo & Dotter Limoges Elite Works 6 Teacups Saucers Pink White Flowers
This pretty set of six teacups(or tea cups) and saucers was made by Bawo& Dotter's Elite Works in Limoges. France. They date to the very early 20th century, but I'm not sure of the exact decade, although they definitely date to pre-1932. I've photographed the mark and I hope that folks who are knowledgeable will be able to date them more precisely. They have a lovely pattern of pink and white flowers and are trimmed in gold gilt. As shown. They're in very good condition, with no cracks or discoloration. The gold trim is worn on some of the saucers, but the flower patterns have no significant wear. I inspected the cups very carefully and found just two miniscule chips: one is on the rim of a saucer and the other is on the rim of a cup. Both can be felt-just barely-but can't easily be seen with the naked eye and my camera ... moreis not good enough to capture them. Please note that the photo of the upside-down cup that was taken to show the mark up close shows a horizontal line in the clay-this happened during manufacturing and is not a crack, just an indentation in the clay. The center has been adorned with large stylized Nouveau Japanese Lilies in bud and full bloom by a master painter. The piece is artist signed Mussil and is very well rendered. I have for auction this evening a very unique and rare bowl made and marked from the factories of Count Thun during the 1880's and the painted at the studios of Bawo& Dotter while baring the mark of PH Leonard so this was made and created and decorated by some of the top producers and decorators of porcelain of that time and indeed of any time. This bowl is made of heavy yet delicate and very fine porcelain and is cast in a nice scalled rim. This gorgeous hand painted and artist signed"H. Laffler" bowl is decorated with Fucsia flowers trimmed in gold gilt. This is an immaculate demitasse set for 6. These were an estate sale find and after much research of the hallmark. I believe these to have been imported by Bawo and Dotter of Fischer, Bohemia. They purchased blanks and decorated them for resale. They had offices in Limoges and New york. This information was found under the search Imperial Crown China Germany-Pottery mark query. No crazing, or stains on the china, nor wear to the guilding. The saucers are 4 7/8 diameter and the cup in the saucer is 2 5/8" high.

Guerin Pouyat Elite LTD Bawo & Dotter dish circa 1900-1914 Limoges France roses
This is a Guerin-Pouyat-Elite LTD tray that has BAWO& Dotter of New York stamp also. Looks like the piece was made in Limoges France and sent to New York for distribution. That is only my assumption since there are two stamps that are both from Limoges and from the same time period. It has a rose pattern around the edge with another solid pattern in the center of the dish. The dish does not have any cracks. Chips, or crazing. This is in perfect condition! This BAWO& DOTTER stamp was used between 1900-1914 according to my resource book of porcelain stamps and the Guerin-Pouyat was used 1896-1900. Marks ~ one back stamp is a green underglaze whiteware production stamp that Bawo& Dotter used after 1900. This is a B& D(Bawo& Dotter) Limited#262489 It has Germany stamped on the face and inside on the works. But it did not show up in the photos. It also has KAD S/I stamped on the inside on the clock works. I do not know a lot about it. I believe it is from 1900- 1920. I believe the case it Walnut. The photos do not do it justice at all. The clock is beautiful and worked well when it was set up. I disconnected the weights since it drove my dog crazy. This is a local pick up only and up to the buyer to move. The piece is underglaze marked Elite over a line and the letter L and the word France in green on the underside. As a blank or white ware, it would have been decorated at an importer studio or home-based painter. This appears to be a studio piece. The image is a 1/3 length bust of a woman in Classical Roman garb of toga and her hair up with strings of pearls. Likely a stylized rendition of Helen of Troy. The main color on the body is green. The porcelain is very thin and translucent and the cup is embellished with gold trim on the rim. Around the bottom of the cup, and on the double ring handle. It has no damage, and it is painted on both sides, each stylistically Art Nouveau– colorful nasturtiums on one side and what looks to me like Mexican milkweed on the other. I’m probably wrong about the milkweed part. It’s likely something more exotic than a weed. It stands 8 ¾” tall and measures 12” across the handles. The elegant and beautifully executed use of shadows adds depth and dimension to both sides. As one would expect. There is some wearing of the gilt handles, ... morebut it is nothing heartbreaking or particularly degrading. It’s old. Even the feet and bottom rim of the pedestal base have remained chip-free. Mark#4- Elite One handle has more wear than the other. It would be the handle on the right if the nasturtiums were facing the room. Which makes me think the owner was right-handed. The gold is worn in exactly the right places– where one's palm would bare the weight. The inside has remained bright and flawless. 6pc RARE 19thc CARLSBAD~BAWO & DOTTER China~5 CREAM SOUP/1 Fruit~Rose Pink Plate

You are bidding on a group of 6pieces. 5 Cream Soups Bowls 9-3/16" + 1 Small Fruit Sauce Bowl 5-13/16" Antique 19thc Victorian Aesthetic Period Carlsbad China from Austria The stamped mark is a BAWO& DOTTER Importer mark. None of the dishes have the maker's mark for the manufacture. And at least some of the dishes. Pre-date 1891, as they do not even bear the importers mark. Bawo and Dotter used several different porcelain manufacturers within the city of Carlsbad. And I am wondering if these may have been made by Straus. But cannot be certain! Still I wonder though! NOTE: Watch your embossing if you are trying to match at least a similar pattern~.there is another embossing pattern out there. Much more common, which does not match these. this SHELL-DOILY style is apparently far more rare. Perhaps ... moreit is a bit older, or just not as common. the other one has round blob-dots between the doilies. ~~ this one doesn't, also this one has a daintier look, and a"Layered Doily" effect, especially noticed at the ends of the Vegetable dish, for example.pretty! 2 of the bowls have 1 shallow chip to the UNDERSIDE edge. Does not show facing from top. ~~Photos# 7-8 show both views of these 2 chips. No Cracks. Some have tiny dark dots and other antique imperfections. Normal for this old glaze, which remains still very GLOSSY ~ Scant Utensil marks. These are in very good shape~ Minimal gold loss. For the most part. 1 soup, and especially the fruit seem to have more gold loss than the other 4) Not seeing any crazing. Tilting in the sunlight. No crazing! Beautiful pieces! This belonged to my Great-Great-Grandmother. And I've so few pieces, time to share, let them build up a set again! Antique Hand Painted Limoges Bawo & Dotter Elite France c1883 Curio Plate
Beautiful Bawo& Dotter Limoges Curio Plate back stamped with the green Elite France Limoges stamp. This beautiful plate was made by a well known and highly collectible porcelain manufacturing company that was fully operational between 1883 and 1914. They imported many beautifully hand painted one of a kind curio plates and china sets to the wealthier people shipping into NY city harbor. Their collections could be purchased in major department stores throughout the big cities in the USA during the late 19th century. This plate was part of my great grandmothers collection. It is 9 1/4" in diameter and comes with the hanging contraption already installed on the back. It can easily be removed if you choose to display this piece in your china cabinet. Posted with
