The price will go back up at the end of the year! This auction lot contains a rare gem of a tool- if you're a bamboo rodmaker. And especially if you're a bamboo rodmaker with both a sense of history and an appreciation for beautifully crafted, functional tools. We are offering one of the original twelve"Wraprite" 4-string glue binders made by the Deschutes Rod Company in the early 1990's. To the best of our knowledge, only those twelve were made. The photos show one spool of cotton thread mounted on one of four identical spool holders. With four spools in place(you should be able to locate spools at any office supply store) and threaded, as shown in the one close-up photo, the four strings are knotted in the center of the machine where they meet after coming through the tensioning arms. A glue-slathered rod section is ... moreadvanced through the hollow center tube from one side until it intersects the four strings and the operator begins to turn the handle. The handle spins the large central disc which in turn spins the two side discs. Each side disc hold two of the four spools and tensioning arms. The two side discs counter-rotate, applying each of their two strings, four in all, in a criss-crossing pattern which applies the tension of wrapping from alternate directions, thus evening out the pressure and minimizing blank twist. The tool is ingenious and it is very, very nicely made. It should go without saying that if you purchase this tool to use in your shop, you should set it up and do trial runs with pre-glued blanks before attempting to use it on freshly glued rod sections. This specimen has been kept crated and unused for a decade and is in nearly perfect condition(there are a few tiny spots of oxidization on some steel parts; most parts are anodized aluminum and are unscathed by their time in the crate) There isn't a spec of glue on the tool. Here is a very nice used Pac Bay power rod wrapper Model No: RW-1L I purchased this from mudhole rod building supply one year ago and have made some very nice rods with it. The wrapper comes with the upgraded aluminum chuck as shown in the pics. The carriage runs smoothly allowing for nice even wraps. There are no flaws other than a little dust from sitting. This comes with two 48" sections as shown allowing for a 7'6" rod to be built. The reversible dryer motor runs nice and slow letting you get good glue coverage on your wraps. All hardware is included. Very nice power wrapper for the beginner to the pro. Fun and easy to use. I'm selling this because I have no time due to my job.

The reel is in good overall cosmetic condition and the clicker button appears to be working properly. The handle is wood and the diameter of the reel is 2 5/8 inches. The reel appears to be nickel plated brass(there are few minor areas where some of the nickel has been rubbed off) A magnet will not stick to most of the reel. The reel has no maker name on it. Fishing Rod Building Wrapping Lathe Fly Rods, Spinning Surf Boat Casting Rods
This auction is for a Professional level Rod Builders Lathe and Power Wrapper. I don't know what make it is. There are no marks anywhere on it to indicate the maker. That being said I must emphasize that this is a very well made professional grade piece of equipment. The lathe chuck is adjustable and can be removed to allow different chuck or faceplate to be mounted. The motor runs smoothly and all parts function well. Please look closely, what you see is what you get. I don't know what all the parts do and if everything is complete. The second set of ways(with the thread tensioner) has two additional mounting attachment stanchions that appear to be missing something: most likely accessory components( perhaps additional thread tensioners for doing multiple color wraps or woven patterns) This machine is complete as far as having everything ... morenecessary to build all but the most complex wrapped rod. The overall length of each section is 48" long. Condition is good and works perfectly. There is a bit of surface rust on chuck( which works smoothly) and numerous drip spots of laquer on the lathe ways. You will need a new drive belt( a large"O" Ring works well. Tho motor runs real well but I don't know what the gearing speeds are since I have never used this machine. The Motor is a Dayton(Granger) and is marked 5000 rpm which seem a bit fast to me. You may want to gear this down or replace it with a slower motor. For shipping purposes I will dismantle it so it will fit in the smallest box possible to keep shipping cost down. Shipping will be via UPS Ground. I will not ship this outside the USA

American Tackle Guide Spacing Chart. This chart is used to locate concept and micro style guides in the correct position on any style rod blank with any type of action. The rod tip is bent to a 90% angle from the but of the blank and the curve of the blank is matched up to the different curves on the chart. You can then mark the different guide lines onto the blank with a marker. This works very well! This chart came with a length of string with a small metal hook on the end to load and hold the blank in a 90% position. I no longer have this but you can easily make one.
