Yo's Custom Rods Fishing Rod on a Calstar BT270 Blank 15-25lb Test Dated August 1996 This rod was built by the late Yoshida family(Yoshiro. Martin and Ruthie) of the famous Yo's Custom Rods of Gardena, CA(see below) Martin passed away this year, Ruthie in 2011, and Yoshiro in the mid-1990s. This rod may have been one of the last that the three of them worked on together. As I type this. I'm having second thoughts about selling it but its just collecting dust. The blank started as a 7'0 but Yo's reduced it to a stubby 53.25" length. I noticed on CalStar's website that they don't sell blanks that short so this is truly a CUSTOM rod. Very rare(maybe unique) and a great collectible for someone that appreciates high quality. Custom fishing tackle. The rod indicates"15-25" which I assume is the line test ... morebut this rod looks capable of handling much heavier fish. 15-25lb test and short length make this ideal for Rock Cod or Halibut but I'm sure it can handle some tuna as well. The rod is undamaged except for some minor scratches from storage and handling. The foam handles are excellent and undamaged and there is no corrosion anywhere. The tip is a chromed roller guide. Custom Wrapped Calstar E-Glass 6'11" Conventional Rod Model T270. 12- 30 lb line. Auction is for a nice looking Custom Calstar 6'11" conventional rod. Blank model T270. For 12-30 lb line. Rod has a tan blank with red and orange wraps, Fuji reel seat and foam handles. Rod shows very little use, in excellent condition. Blank is straight and clean with a minimal amount of rash, hard to see in photos and in person. All guides tight and free of any rust or pitting. Handles clean too, with lots of cushion. Only issue of note is that the bottom foam grip was installed a bit too close up to the seat, so maker had to cut off about 3/4" inch of foam to allow the bottom clamp to adjust down enough and fit a reel. No issues with fit as shown in last photo, just a small part that wasn't perfect when rod was built. This does ... morenot affect function at all and still makes a great rod for fishing with. Having said that you will be bidding on this used Calstar big game rod that has a rating of 40-80 pound line. The model number is 6455 and the rod stands 5'6" tall. It is equipped with an Aftco seat. All Aftco roller guides in good working order, a forked butt, and nice looking foam handles with normal wear. There is a" Pic Six" also on the blank that was his boat's name. These rods were built in November 1996 by Roy Tanaka(Yo's Custom rods) These rods are 77 inches long. And have 6 Aftco roller guides. For the age of these rods and the numerous fish caught they are in overall good condition. As shown in the pictures one of the roller guides is missing a screw.
