They from the collection of an elderly man in the Boston area who was planning to open a bait and tackle show in the late 50's. Could be a regional, New England area lure, Ohio, Indiana, or The Cape as many similar lures in the shop were from these areas. Each of these is has a small flaw. Lure is in unfushed Excellent condition with a little hook smile under the chin from handling. The markings on the end of the box are very fain and I can just make out the last 3 letters"34P" which is correct for this lure so I am assuming it is the original box. This auction is for 3 Creek Chub Pikie Deep Diver fishing lures. All 3 lures have been part of a restoration. We're not sure which parts. Or color patterns, are original. Two of the lures have Creek Chub Pikie on the tops. These two also have C.C.B. Co. Deep Diver on the lip. Two of them have larger"bug eyes" All have jointed bodies, and measure approximately 5 1/2 inches long, from the tip of the lip to the tip of the tail ring. There are 3 treble hooks on each. Up for your consideration is a very nice blue and white ccbco pikie with no eyes and a double line tie. The light blue color of the head and large stamped box proves that this lure dates before 1925. 701 stamp in large numbers is a blue and white lure. After 1925 701 would have been a perch color with smaller stamped numbers. Lure is in fantastic shape for its age with minimal age lines and a light hook drag as seen in the picture. Here is a very old Creek Chub Bait Co. Fly Rod Box the box only no lure. It is 2 3/8 inches long 7/8 inches wide and 3/8 inches tall. The marking on the box is faded out some but it can still be made out. It must be rare as i have never seen another one like it on ebat in 13 years. Howes South Bend Fishing Lure Vacuum Bait in Box Glass Eyes Heddon Creek Chub
Here is a South Bend 3 hook Vacuum Bait in its Correct Box. Box top is solid all but one corner. The bottom is all solid with a slight dent in one corner. It is a bit dirty. I have not attempted to clean it. The Right eye is Perfect. The left eye has a hairline and there are various paint age line cracking and chips on the body. Displays Very Nicely atop its Box.
