Bait color finish is rainbow fire. Awesome color pattern. Paint has some light rubs and a few nicks/dings. Overall the bait needs a cleaning. These lures are highly desirable especially the ones with the original boxes. A total of seven Dingbat lures is in this sale. Six of the seven are the 5100 series. One is a 5200 series. Four of the 5100 series has the original correct marked boxes. I have five clearly marked boxes in this sale. Four have the lures to go with them they are all the 5100 series. The other box is a 5202 box which is clearly legible for the smaller white with red head Dingbat(again box only no lure) I have an original order form that i found in one of the boxes. With exceptional craftsmanship and paint. A vintage folk art classic Creek Chub Dingbat simply doesn't come much better than this. Entirely hand crafted from scratch this great lure is a killer piece, Check out the fantastic BLACK and GOLD scale paint job. All lures in the Kieny collection by this maker were originally found in a partitioned Pflueger dealer box in the floor rafters of the basement in a house located in north Pittsburg, Pennsylvania PA. The house had been scheduled for demolition, and, fortunately for us collectors, these great fisherman made lures were salvaged. This is the first of 2 lots I am offering this week with more coming in later weeks, so be sure to check back often. Nice Vintage Creek Chub Jointed Snook Pikie 5507 Mullet With Box. Here is a vintage Creek Chub lure. It displays nicely with some minor surface wear. Hook pointers, some paint lines. Some oxidation on hooks. I don't think it was used very much but was just stored away for many decades. I just gave it a brief wipe down and added hook tubing protection on the hooks-it might benefit from a little further cleaning. Box looks good with some wear, one side has stamping that appears to be 5507. Also includes a small catalog in good condition as shown. VERY EARLY!! Creek Chub #708 ~ Rainbow ~ with prototype hardware double line tie
This is a very early version of the classic#700 Series. Known as the"Pikie" Rainbow paint pattern is code 708. Notice the odd double line tie prototype hardware. Hooks and hardware are all in good condition with little oxidation. I did not notice any cracks in the eyes. Lure body has just a few, very tight agelines and minimal pointing, there is some chipping on the finish near the dlt, as seen in the pics. Notice the early style shape of the lure's head, rarely are these pikies found in the early shape style in such good condition.

Ind. The original founders were George Schultress, Carl Heinzerling and Henry S. Dills. Dills was the design genius behind the lures. Heinzerling and Schultress provided the capital and managed the business. Though the firm started selling lures at that time, it was not until around 1918 that they attracted enough business to allow them to start shipping baits in large numbers. In 1917, the company developed what would become a major contribution to the entire fishing lure industry. ... morethe natural scale finish process. This finish was used on some C.C.B.Co. products as early as 1917 and a patent was issued for it in 1919. Half of the rights to this process were assigned to the James Heddon Company. The other major development that happened about this time was the introduction in 1919 of the No. 700 Famous Pikie Minnow. This bait gained immediate acceptance and went on to become one of the most successful fishing lures of all time. A jointed version of the Pikie. The No. 2600 was introduced in 1926 and the No. 3400 Series"Snook" Pikie showed up in catalogs around 1930. It was made exactly like the original 700 Series Pikie minnow except much larger and much stronger. It is 4-7/8" in length and weighs 1-1/8 ozs. its jointed version measures 5-1/4" and weighs in at 1.6 ozs. The belly hooks are swivled and anchored entirely through the body. This is a very rugged and heavy duty bait. Several other variations followed and C.C.B.Co. Pikies continued through the years until 1978 when the company was sold to the Lazy Ike Corp. of Des Moines, Iowa. Without a doubt, today these are the most collected fishing lures ever made. The lure was never used and it has the original glass eyes and really nice hand painted details. It does have a few crazing lines in the finish just from age. The box indicates this was made by the Creek Chub Bait Company located in Garrett. Indiana and the side indicates this is the Creek Chub Pikie Minnow with a perch finish.
