Vintage 2 PC early fiberglass fly rod by unknown maker 6 1/2' long. Rod is marked but can't make out logo or design. Overall rod is in good condition with nice cork handle and reel seat. Has red and yellow threads. All guides and ferrules are factory and tight including tip. Nice piece

Classic Fiberglass that no longer comes up for sale often. Hardy JET 8' 6 wt. 2 pc. on the coveted Fisher blank! A medium fast action all around fly rod that will toss streamers as well as punch large drys in the wind. Nice and snug ferrule fit. Hardware perfect, and the grip has probably been lightly cleaned. The only issue is a small divot out of the surface varnish only near the female ferrule end(See photo) it looks much worse in the photo then in hand. It in no way affects the rods functionality. Vintage Martin fiberglass rod and fly & spinning reel fishing travel set
Here is a very good condition Martin combination spin/fly travel fishing set in vinyl zippered case. This set consists of a 7’ fiberglass fishing rod that can be used as a spinning rod or a fly rod. There is a Martin Bretton 104 alloy spinning reel with folding handle. Removable spool, anti-reverse latch, all in good condition. There is a minor amount of finish missing on the reel foot and on one edge of the reel body. The spinning reel is LHW. Also in the vinyl case is a Martin Multiplier Model 72 fly reel with disc drag. The reel can be changed from LHW to RHW fairly easily according to the instruction leaflet which is also in the vinyl case. Reel is in good condition. Minor nicks in the finish, has a drag adjustment knob and a drag on/off knob. There is a bit of side play in the spool. The Model 72 has an outstanding reputation with Great ... moreLakes steelheaders and is reputed to have an underrated drag system. There is a small plastic Martin Sovereign 650 fly box in the last pocket of this case with 6 flies. 3 dry flies and 3 wet flies. This set is complete. Everything that the same was originally sold with is in the case. The original registration and warranty card are also in the case. The vinyl case is in great condition. Zipper works perfect and is solid, no tears in the vinyl. For a collector of fiberglass rods this would make a great addition. I’m guessing that this set is from the late 1960’s or early 70’s. I fished it about half a dozen times and concluded that I do not like the action of fiberglass. There are no flaws with the fly rod or its respective case. The case is plastic encased with fabric. FENWICK FF756 feralite 2 piece 7'6" fiberglass fly rod in near-mint condition with original sock in mint condition and original case in good condition. I've fished with this model Fenwick many times. And though the labeling calls it a six-weight, it also handles a 5-weight beautifully) The tube still carries the original Gart Brothers price tag, which shows that it sold for $39.95 in 1971, so my minimum bid is considerably less than what the outfit sold for over 40 years ago. I would have called this rod mint, except that it has two mark-downs: first(and worst) the hinge on the tube cap has given up the ghost(see photos) secondly, the rod has a little light soiling on the cork and a few scratches in the finish, which shows it was fished with at least a few times. Otherwise, it is in as-new condition. Please study the photos, ... moreand let them be your guide to how it looks: what you see is what you get. Very clean Fenwick FF79 from 1962. No nicks. Dings, scratches or marks. The FF79 is thought by many to be the smoothest casting of all the Fenwicks. This has the early silver underwraps and is hand lettered. The reel seat is two-tone brass and bronze. The grip has a"tournament" thumb-rest popular with pre-graphite casters. The rod sock is original and labeled. All-around a terrific example of early fiberglass and certainly ready to fish or display.

Choice C.1955 MONTAGUE #1-5 "Holloglass" 8-1/2', 3/1 Tubular Fiberglass Fly Rod
Up for auction a Beautiful and somewhat Scarce CIRCA 1955 MONTAGUE No.1-5"HOLLOGLASS" 8-1/2 FT. 3/1 TUBULAR FIBERGLASS FLY ROD WITH THE ORIGINAL BAG& ORIGINAL LABELED FIBER TUBE. These were built by the Montague Rod& Reel Co. in the early to mid 1950's, right around the time Montague quit producing bamboo rods. With the dark rich"tiger-stripe" glass blanks and contrasting wraps, this particular"Holloglass" model was one of the finest-looking glass fly rods built during that era. These should be considered scarce when found in the complete package and in this nice of condition. Without question, this is the finest example I've seen. Rodshaft carries an absolutely perfect Montague oval logo, while the grip still carries the original factory label which is correctly marked for the rod. Comes equipped ... morewith chromed stripping guide& tip top, 9) snake guides(4 on the mid, 5 on the tip) high-grade serrated Montague ferrules, flip-ring hook keeper, screw-locking reel seat with black spacer, solid cork reverse Half-Wells grip and wound in black silk tipped in gold. Rod is in Very Fine+ condition, showing only wear. Blanks are in wonderful condition, with just some minor rubs and scratches. All three sections are the correct length and are arrow-straight. All guides, tip top, ferrules and hook keeper remain nice. Reel seat works perfectly. Solid cork grip is in excellent condition. All wraps are solid and complete. Ready now to enhance one's collection or be put right to work. Put up in the original cloth bag, which is also in Very Fine condition, with no holes, tears or soiling. All goes into the original fiber tube, which is a beauty. Still carries about a 98% complete paper tube label, also correctly marked for the rod. The cap screws on tightly and securely. AMBER colored, fiberglass(another oddity; as the later Fenwick rods are yellow glass) It was manufactured, in the late'60's. This cool"old school" rod is lightly used-but in remarkably superb condition! It has some slight. And typical, wear. But, it's been well taken care of, in it's 45- year history. All guide wraps are tight, without any fraying. The reel seat is a little dusty; but otherwise in fine shape. The cork, is also in excellent shape. I'm guessing that. This rod is a 7/8 weight(since there are only two model numbers, on this rod) This is partially based, on 45+ years of fishing experience with glass rods. Plus, what a fellow member on the Fiberglass Flyrodders Forum suggested. However, I showed it to a fly shop owner recently. He felt like it might be more like, an 8/9 weight. Vintage Fiberglass Shakespeare Wonderod Professional 6' 6" Fly Rod
This was my first fly rod. I've owned it for 50+ years. Still in good fishable condition. Would like to see all the bream in a pile that it has caught over the years. Rod guides not bent. Guide wraps intact still glossy. Cork grip discolored from 50 years of use and I would rate it good to very good usable condition. Nothing has caused any damage to the fiberglass, as I take care of my equipment. The connection still pops when you take it apart(good tight fit) No damage to the reel seat, just a little paint missing here and there due to be carried. It never had a rod case. Will ship bubble wrapped in a golf club box to provide adequate protection. Time to pass it along to someone else.

Vintage MONTAGUE Fiberglass Fly Rod 8-1/2 Ft
This is a vintage Montague Fiberglass fly rod. Made in the early 1950's. Montague(along with H-I) made perhaps the greatest number of bamboo fly rods for American fishermen, but made relatively few fiberglass fly rods. Unlike many of their bamboo fly rods which were factory produced to a low to medium quality standard, Montague's fiberglass fly rods were smooth, had good tapers, and were fitted with quality components. These vintage fiberglass rods are highly sought after both as collectibles and as well-performing present day fishing tools. At 5-1/4 ounces, this rod is light in the hand for 8-1/2 ft. It asts easily with a 6 or 7 weight DT line, or a WF 7 weight line where more distance is needed. The flex of the rod is medium full. It will deliver casts at medium range and at distance on medium and large rivers and lakes, and although ... moreit has a delicate tip, it has the power to deliver a larger fly and handle some wind. Snake guides and tip top are vintage hardened steel, and the stripping guide is a vintage carbide stripper. Reel seat barrel is red and complements the rich brown tones of the fiberglass blank, with chrome reel hoods and knurled locking nut. It operates smoothly and securely. Wraps are the original red and white silk(see note below) Decal with Montague logo is intact and in good condition. Ferrules are nickel silver, solid and smooth, and make a'pop' sound when pulled apart. Half Wells cork handle is in good condition, and has a minimum of chipping. I purchased this rod for my own use, and restored it where needed, and have looked forward to fishing it on my local rivers. In order to reduce the number of my 2 dozen plus bamboo, fiberglass and graphite fly rods, I have decided to put this beautiful vintage rod up for auction. This Abercrombie and Fitch Featherweight fiberglass fly rod was built for A&F by the Phillipson Rod Company. The rod is in very nice condition. The only condition issue that I can see is that one of the snake guides has been crudely replaced(see photo) not a big deal to have fixed. It comes with the rod tube, but no sock, I will however wrap the rod carefully and insert it into the tube for shipping. The rod tube its self is in well used condition, and the label is still attached, see photos. I'm thinking this would be a fun rod for Small Mouth Bass or the like.

Vintage SPORT KING Fiberglass Fly Rod 8-1/2 Ft
This is a classic all-original Sport King 8-1/2 ft Fiberglass fly rod. Made in the 1950's, and marketed by Montgomery Wards. Sport King fiberglass rods were supplied to Wards by both Montague and Horrocks-Ibbotson, and the rod blank on this rod has many of the characteristics of the classic H-I rods, such as the Mohawk model. These early fiberglass rods were made with durable fiberglass blanks that exhibited a classic medium full action. Such vintage rods are sought after both as collectibles and as well-performing present day fishing tools, and are preferred by many fly fishermen for their classic feel and action. The rod's 8-1/2 ft. length allows it to cast well with a DT 6 or 7 line. Or a WF 7 or 8 line, depending on the length of casts and the angler's preference. The flex of the rod is medium full, for a strong but progressive ... morerod action. It can deliver smooth presentations at short range and at distance on medium and large rivers and lakes, and has the power to deliver a larger fly, and handle some wind. Snake guides and tip top are original blackened hardened steel for good wear resistance. And the stripping guide is chromed steel. Reel seat is beautiful black anodized aluminum which complements the rich tones of the fiberglass blank. It has chromed reel hood bands and aluminum locking knurled nut and operates smoothly and securely. Wraps are original orange nylon, tipped in black. Decal with Sport King logo is in very good condition. Unusually high quality machined aluminum ferrules are precisely sized, fit together smoothly, and make a"pop" sound when rod is pulled apart. Classic Full Wells cork handle is smooth and solid, generally clean, and has a very minimum of chipping. Rod has seen some careful use. But has been well cared for, and is in very good plus condition. Adding a light coat of rod finish to the original blank and wraps, plus light cleaning of the cork if desired, will bring this rod back to close to original condition. Scott 8' 5wt 3pc Custom Fiberglass Fly Rod
I originally purchased this rod as a finished rod from a builder in New Mexico. The rod was made fro a NOS Scott Glass blank. I. In turn sent the rod to another builder to have it stripped down and built as close to factory spec as possible. This is the finished product. I hat to let it go but I have too much gear and not enough time to enjoy it. This is a beautiful rod and a great caster that I fished only once. There is one small scratch on the butt section of the rod I tried to show in the last picture. Comes with aluminum tube and rod sock. Continental US buyers only please. HARDY 9’ FIBERGLASS FLY ROD FOR A 9WT This is a nice Hardy 9wt rod for bass. Steelhead, or light salt-water fishing. Hardy decal on the rod shaft. And Hardy roll-stamp on the reel seat. Numbers in white ink on the shaft are 275cm(length) C/Y. And 53 on the tip and butt at the ferrule. Spigot ferrule. Full bridge guides, and agate or ceramic tip-top. The rod is a perfect 9’ when assembled. The butt(including spigot) is about 1 ½” longer than the tip. As is often the case with British rods. Comes with the original marked Hardy bag. And no tube(as issued) I will ship in a PVC tube for protection. This is a fine-casting rod. It delivers a 9wt like the proverbial canon. Whether false casting or shooting a line on big water. Great for big fluffy dries or heavy wet flies. Does well with bass bugs, and can handle weighted bunny leeches with ... moreaplomb. I have not tried this rod in salt water. It was a spare in case I broke its twin(I had two identical rods) It is unstressed and functionally like new; most of the original"Fenwick" paper sticker is still on the reel seat. The tube has only minor surface smudges, no dents; the tube cap still has the original foam inner-pad. Used with surface scratches and stress cracks in both sections(see below) Vintage fiberglass fishing rod from the 1950's or 60's. 2 sections plus sock and tube. Both sections have stress cracks(see photos) Cork handle. Guides and wraps are in excellent condition. There are no markings on the rod itself. It's just a guess but I would say it's a#6. Vintage Heddon Pal Pro Weight #8381 7' 5wt Fiberglass Fly Rod
I just inventoried my fiberglass rod collection and discovered I have multiple Heddon 5wt fiberglass rods from the 1960's. I took this rod out in the yard today and cast it with both WF5 and WF6 wt lines. And think this rod cast best with the WF6. The rod looks to be all original, the bronze colored aluminum reel seat shows some use. The cork grip is in great condition for a 50 year old occasionally used rod. All guides, hook keeper,and ferrules are intact, as are the windings from tip to bottom of rod. The ferrels join together and come apart nicely, and the rubber o-ring is like new. This is clearly a mid-1960's vintage rod that has been fished and cared for. No rod sock or period correct Heddon tube are available for this rod, and as I recall, the first one of these I bought in Wisconsin when I was a kid did not have either. I'd ... morelike to have someone else enjoy this one. Here is some nice detailed information on the Heddon flyrods from the 1960's. Some of which were borrowed from other listings. In the early 1960's this rod was listed at $27.95 in the Heddon catalogs of that era. Many collectors that post on the Fiberglass Flyrodders website say they prefer the 7" 5wts like this for smaller streams and ponds. The Heddon Pal Mark Series fiberglass rods were introduced in 1962 and the Pal's were sold new in sporting goods stores during the 1960's and'70s. They are over fifty(50) years old this year and are still in great demand by collectors all over the world. They were offered in Mark I. Mark II, Mark III and the Mark IV models. All of these rods were made in Casting, Spinning and Fly Rod configurations. They were instant hits with anglers everywhere. I traded e-mails with the Heddon museum in Michigan a couple of months ago. The owners told me they actually preferred the later"yellow" blank rods to the earlier"brown" rods you often see on eBay.
