This is a two piece rod. That I am fairly certain has never been fished with. One photo shows the"hook holder eye" near the cork. Cork is soiled, a few nicks in the cork, some pin-head sized loss of anodizing on the reel seat. Looks like it was fished but not much. This is an unusual fly rod. It is a custom rod built by Left Coast Tackle on an 8"1' two piece 5/6 wt. fiberglass blank by Steffen. T he rod is used. But not abused, its in nice shape. For sale at a buy it now fixed price is this very hard to find fiberglass fly fishing rod. Made to compete with the smuggler rods of the time it is a 4 piece 7 foot rod. It is a custom rod made by Don Russell Custom Rods of Arvada(a suburb of Denver) back in the day. Like many of their rods this was made with components from local rod makers at the time. I believe that this is a Phillipson blank with a Phillipson reel seat. Custom wraps, and the very high end ferrules that use rubber o rings for a secure fit. With the custom wraps and snake river eyes this is a very attractive rod. It comes the way we got it.in a modern Cabellas Stowaway rigid tube covered with water resistant cordura and the rod sack that went with it. Both are a perfect fit for the rod. Like most custom rods. And in fact most Phillipson rods the appropriate fly line to ... moreuse is not marked on the rod. In my backyard I can throw a WF-4-F with the rod but I can tell that it is not the appropriate line. This is a nearly new Scott F2 6'6" 3-weight fiberglass fly rod. I am the original owner and have fished the rod on only one occasion. The rod is in outstanding condition; I can't call it new because I used it one time(a successful foray for wild brookies in a White Mountain headwater stream) however. Classic Shakespeare No1258 Combo Fly/Spin 7' Wonderod Fiberglass Fishing Rod 2/1
This 7' combination fly/spinning rod is in very good condition. Some wear on the anodized bronze aluminum reel seat. The shaft is a brown blank, the decal 95% or better. The ferrule is"popping" tight. The sliding bands on the cork grip can be positioned wherever it feels best to hold the spinning reel. It is stamped model FFB which dates it to September 1955. You also get the original blue bag, imprinted with name, patent numbers and model number, plus a Rod Caddy for protection. a nice collectible for the Shakespeare aficionado.

It is marked Jimmy Green near the handle, and is stamped Jimmy Green FB 5300 Sonoma Calif on the handle. Item appears to be in good physical condition, but functional condition is unknown, and it does not have a reel seat. Plenty of pictures to determine your own condition rating.
