Vintage Fenwick Fiberglass Fly Fishing Rod - 9' - 3 Piece w/ A Plastic Tube
This auction is for a nice vintage Fenwick 3 piece 9 foot fly rod in a Fenwick hard plastic tube. This was my fly rod when I used to go fishing. I had several Fenwick rods and for some reason the 9 ft rod ended up in the 8 foot tube which has a broken off cap. However the rod was well cared for over the years and not used as much as the smaller rods I had used. Hopefully the photos will tell it all. Please ask questions if needed.

If you know Shane's work, you know what a rare and amazing piece of fly fishing equipment and art this is. It casts like a dream! The blank is made from S-glass instead of the usual E-Glass. So it is lighter in weight yet stronger than most traditional fiberglass rods. It still has that lovely smooth fiberglass rod feel. The root-beer colored blank also has a beautiful translucence in the light. The rod also boasts blued nickel silver components and is wrapped in traditional burgundy silk. It has a Lemke down-locking reel seat with Burl insert. Blued Snake Brand snake guides and tip top, real agate stripping guide, and the very top grade hand-turned cork. Shakespeare FY-920 Presidential Wonderod (fiberglass fly rod)
Up for bids is a vintage Shakespeare model FY-920 fiberglass Wonderod from the higher grade Presidential series. The date code is EEC. Dating this rod to August 1966. This is a 7' rod and is rated for D, HDH, 2LM lines inthe old line designations. In modern AFTMA designations, this corresponds to a 5-weight. This is a nice light 2-peice rod and weighs about 3.5 ounces. A classic fly rod, direct from the Gadabout Gaddis era of fly fishing. The rod shows average signs of age but is in nice fishable condition with all guides and windings intact. Both sections are the same length. A great little trout rod or panfish rod. This rod also comes with a cloth rod sack and plastic rod case.

Vintage Heddon #8453 Mark IV 7'6" 2pc 5wt Fiberglass Fly Rod w/Tube and Sock
I'm selling another one of my favorite fiberglass rods from the 1960's. Over the past year of so. I have seen plenty of 8wt rods. But very ew if any 7'6" 845 5wt versions. Many fibergalss fly rod enthusiasts say the 7'6" 5 weights ate the best of the Heddon series of rods, with the most delicate touch. I have owned this Mark IV Fly Rod#8453 7'6" 5wt Fas-Tip Action rod for a couple of years. And it has been displayed in my heated office/fishing gear workshop the whole time. The rod is all original. The aluminum reel seat shows minimal use and the rubber butt is in great condition. The walnut and faux ivory inlay and cork grip are also in excellent condition. All guides, hook keeper,and ferrules are like new, as are the windings from tip to bottom of rod. This is clearly a early to mid-1960's vintage rod ... morethat has been carefully used and cared for. The rod sock is the original dark green cloth with red trimmings. And the Heddon aluminum tube and both Heddon caps are period correct. The rod tube shows wear on the bottom. Likely from use and shipping, but is fully intact and not physically damaged. Honestly, I am only selling this because I have collected too many rods and rarely use them. I took 20 rods to Wisconsin this year, and used* or 10 at best over the month. I'd rather have someone else enjoy this one, as I have over the years. Here is some nice detailed information on the Heddon flyrods from the 1960's. Some of which was borrowed from a similar listing 8wt listed at $125 a few years ago. The Heddon Pal Mark Series fiberglass rods were introduced in 1959 and the Mark IV's were sold new in sporting goods stores during the 1960's and'70s. So they are over fifty(50) years old this year and are still in great demand by collectors all over the world. They were offered in Mark I, Mark II, Mark III and the Mark IV models. Fenwick 320 Fiberglass Fly Rod - 7 1/2' 5/6wt.
This rod is so beautiful it is very difficult to part with it. It is in terrific shape and appears to never have been used(the reel seat shows no wear or scratches at all) The cork looks new and clean. The ferrule is perfect. Even the little rubber gasket is in perfect condition(no cracks at all) The thread finish shows some age but then again the rod is over 60 years old. The wraps are all very solid though. It's an absolutely fantastic trout rod. As fiberglass goes it is on the faster side. This is a vintage rod in excellent shape and it casts and fishes beautifully. Comes with rod. Sock and aluminum tube.

Offered for sale is a vintage Harnell fly rod in great condition. The rod is stamped Harnell 655 NO other markings anywhere. I think the rod is from the 1960's- I have no way to know for sure. The rod is a 2 piece 9' rod that I believe is fiberglass. The rod was found inside the blue rod sleeve that I think is original-it has a small sticker labeled 655. The rod sleeve is dirty in areas from storage in a garage NO ROD TUBE was found with the rod The rod has seen very little use. The rods finish is still very shiny and new looking. Up for bid. Is a vintage fiberglass St Croix fly rod- model 983. This is a collectible never fished vintage St Croix rod, these rods in this condition are getting really hard to find. It’s an 8’ 3” 2 pc, rated for a 7 wt fly line. Based upon my inspection I’d have to say it would also cast a 6 wt line as well. Made in the 1960’s it’s in perfect condition, it was still enclosed in the original plastic bag normally included from the factory. A super fine rod to fish for trout and smallmouth with. It seems to be an odd length, but there appears to have been no shortening. The name HERTER'S is stamped in the metal reel seat cap. The name also appears on the butt section approximately 6" up from handle.and is very difficult to read, being black on dark brown. Note indentation on cork handle for index finger. NICE VINTAGE 8' FIBERGLASS GARCIA "DRY FLY" FLY ROD, MODEL 2537, 6-7 LINE
Vintage 8' Garcia Model 2537. Fiberglass fly rod for 6-7 weight line. Made in USA. I love these older full flex rods, great for delicate presentations and mending line. Excellent anodized aluminum reel seat. Cork is very good but darker from use and age. Excellent guides, ferrules and wraps. This is a surprisingly nice rod, I was temped to keep it. Fly Rod Scientific Anglers System Five Fiberglass Rod
Scientific Anglers System Five fiberglass fly rod. Wonderful true five weight fly rod that is a joy to cast. The SA System fly rods are really great fishing tools. The System Five is the best of the bunch. All photographs are of the actual fly rod. Tube and bag. One of the wraps on the tip section is darker than the other guide wraps which may be from rewrapping. Casting and fishing not at all influenced. Both rod sections are proper length and ferrule gap is great as shown in the photograph. This fly rod will be packaged in an outer container covering the original rod tube. Orvis fiberglass kit fly rod 8’ 2pc
The earlier yellow Full Flex blanks were supplied by Phillipson. This one is fitted with the Reeder-McGill seat and Foulproof Aetna guides. Suggesting it was assembled sometime maybe in the early 70’s. The seat works just fine, the ferrules have no issues, and none of the guides are ready for replacement yet. Wraps are still secure. There is a small scuff above the grip on the butt section.Full Flex rods in this length originally were spec’d for 7wt lines but you may do OK with a 6wt. These had the durability we all recall fiberglass rods for, and this would make a nice streamer rod. Whoever assembled this tried to carve out a thumb rest like on the Wes Jordan models but they never smoothed it out. Sorry, no bag or tube. Questions are welcome. Bob Brunsell 'Little Streamer' fiberglass fly rod early 5 ft model for 5 wt Mint
This rod is legend in Wisconsins driftless area. Five feet long of soft glass for tight waters. Beautiful translucent vintage fiberglass used on this rod by Bob Brunsell on one of his early rods built for me. Has made for my name on rod. I have only lawn cast it. It is excellent with a 5 wt level line and just plain fun to cast. You can do a search on this rod and read of it in numerous books and magazines. You'll have trouble finding one in better condition.
