VINTAGE FIN NOR TROLLING REEL EARLY MODEL 4/0 I purchased an assortment of old rods and reels and ended up with this early Fin Nor. It has been on the shelf with my other collectible fishing gear and I have decided to part with it. This is an Early 4/0(30# Fin Nor Trolling reel. Serial number M 248. The reel is in good working condition. Drag is not frozen like most old Fin Nor's. Click works, reel could go fishing with you if you want. Cosmetics. Look at the photos, there is some corrosion on the handle, looks like the click plate has been replaced at some point and the reel could use a good cleaning. I do not know the age of the reel but it(and several other reels) were on custom rods from the early to mid 1950's that I acquired from the original owner. Should you be interested. I scratched it lightly(see picture) and realized it is just too nice a reel for me- I'm using my Ross which isn't nearly as nice, but I don't mind using hard. These rods and reels were hardly used other than for show. near new condition reels still have the red and black fill in on the lettering. Cork is amazing. A few knicks on the ahrens aluminum butts, aftco and ahrens rollers. They are used but have very slight signs of wear. these are used prices: Rods alone are $500 ea x 4. Up for sale is a lot of 2 vintage Fin-Nor No.3 fishing reels designed by Gar Wood Jr. These originally belonged to my uncle who was an avid fisherman. I don't know much about them. But will describe them to the best of my abilities. The one on the left appears to function properly, the spool moves up and down when cranking the handle. When you flip the red switch one way, it keeps it from spinning in reverse. When you flip it the other way, it will spin in reverse. As for the one on the right, when you crank the handle the outer gold piece spins but the spool does not move up and down. I removed the side that the handle attaches to and there was a broken plastic piece inside(shown in pics) That plastic piece is what makes the spool move up and down, it needs replaced in order to make the reel work again. Same on this one, when you flip ... morethe red switch one way. It keeps it from spinning in reverse. When you flip it the other way, it will spin in reverse. Don't know anything else about these other than what is described. They both appear to be in decent physical condition and the leather case. Although stained, is included. The case reads Fin Nor No. 3 on the bottom. The original badges on the side of the reels are not engraved. Overall a nice lot of vintage fishing reels.
