Gift inscription on flyleaf dated 1913, as is Preface. A thick and comprehensive work, bound in green cloth with gilt-stamped decoration of rod and hooked fish on front cover. A work that is difficult to find in good condition due to its unwieldy thickness, and this copy has seen some wear. The spine backstrip is present, but detached, and the front hinge is nearly split, with the front matter going with the front cover. Rear hinge in a similar fragile state. However, the text block from the preface on is cohesive, and although foxed in places, clean. All illustrations present.
