Beautiful work horse of a reel! The Peerless reels have proved them selfs to be one of the great reel at a very reasonable price. This is the small Trout size at 2-3/4" x 1-5/32" in silver& black and will hold DT4 with 30yds of backing. Setup for LHW but can be changed to RHW. The bearings are oil-impregnated bronze which hold lubricant long after other materials have run dry and are hard enough to provide a lifetime of wear and remain true and smooth. Peerless chose this expensive type of bearing over roller or ball bearings because they are best suited for the real world conditions of sand. Dirt, etc. The stainless steel Bearing Shaft is centerless ground to exacting tolerances to provide a smoothness that is expected of a quality reel. Centerless ground means simply that the shaft is machined to eliminate the slightest bend or set and is absolutely straight.

Design is unlike anything previously or since produced by Hardy sold under their own name. Reel is 3 3/4 inches in diameter by 1 5/16 inches wide(excluding handle and drag knob) Cast of a newly developed magnesium alloy the reel is extremely light weighing a mere 3.5 ounches- more than 30% lighter than comparible sized Hardy reels using traditional cast aluminum alloys. Most suitable for 6-9 weight lines/rods. Reel is in good mechanical condition and has all its original parts with no loose rivets or screws. ... moreCosmetically I would rate this reel as just fair to good- it has obviously been well used. Unfortunately, the finish Hardy used plagued this series of reels during its entire production. Reel can be fished with right or left hand retrieve by simply inverting the single click pawl and reversing the single screw, double prong chromium line guard. Minimal"drag" may be applied via a plastic knob on the reverse which works on a spring that regulates the pressure on the single click pawl. Terrific clicking sound. Includes original Orvis vinyl, padded and zippered reel case in good condition. Images should provide all the information necessary to make a reasonably intelligent bid on this lot. However. This reliable rig was purchased a little over a year ago for both personal and guide use. I no longer need it and although used. Is not abused. No major wear. We're talking both rod and reel as well as a Cortland precision WF#4 Floating line(one of my favorite lines) I am leaving the factory loop on however I'd suggest a fresh nailknot+butt section be added. The reel is the 4/5 model. The rod comes with the tube and sock. It's ready to fish! No need to spend tons of money on fly fishing. I'd call it a solid and quality all-around trout/panfish etc. rig and by a reputable company. The action is not super fast but certainly not slow. Great for dries actually. You will note the close-ups showing some spots of wear. These are the worst you will find and most of the rig is clean. The rod is in very good condition.

Vintage Kalamazoo Tackle Company"Empress" fly fishing reel. Model 1689. Reel cranks smoothly and has clicker sound(not sure how to turn clicker off or if is designed to always be on. There is finish wear, and there is either touch up that has been done or there is a darker colored undercoat that is showing through(see pictures) The slots of the two stand screws on back are a bit damaged. The oil cap on back unscrews like it is supposed to, the button to the left of it does not move. Don't know what it is for. Also, the"jewel" in the center of the oil cap is loose and have to be careful when taking the cap off or this jewel thing will fall out. Neither the cap or button to the left appear to have any effect on spool tension or clicker sound. This is an extremely rare D. L. Robichaud fly reel. It is a No. 8 Salt model and the serial number is 005. It would make an extremely good reel for salmon or steelhead and is easily big enough to handle#9 lines. Those of you familar with Robichaud reels know that they are no longer made. But all were of extremely high quality. I would put it up against any Tibor, Alutechnos, or similar reels. No case but would wrap well. The reel is in excellent condition with a few extremely small marks on the seat flange. Totally black and set up for left hand wind.

Used John Emery Tarpon Fly Reel Famed Florida Keys guide John Emery designed and manufactured these fly reels during the 1970’s. Due to his untimely early death there are thought to be less than 400 total made. In two different sizes. This reel. Serial number 063, is the tarpon size. It has a 4 ¼” diameter spool and is 1 3/16” wide. It is reported to weigh 13.6 oz. The reel features a large diameter. Very smooth, widely adjustable cork drag, silent in and out, standard arbor spool that is highly ventilated on the front side, palming rim and full frame. Reel seats on original Emery reels were a weak point in the design. Many originals were retrofitted. On this reel. The original seat has been replaced with an Abel seat. Because the Abel base is not as wide as the original seat, there is an area on the reel's frame that is exposed ... moreand does not match the black finish on the rest of the reel. There is no evidence of any corrosion around the base of the seat. The reel is otherwise in excellent condition. It appears that the Abel foot has been very slightly bent. Though it fits on Sage Xi3 and G Loomis NRX reel seats well. There is one tiny ding on the back side of the frame, and an even smaller one on the front of the spool. But no other noticeable scratches inside or out. There is also no rust or corrosion evident. The reel is set up for right hand wind and cannot be reversed. For auction is a very nice mid 1900's Pflueger Progress No. 1774 solid brass frame with aluminum spool fly reel. This model has the slide option between click and free spin and functions properly. This reel is very clean and an absolute joy to use. The brass is very shiny. It is difficult to capture in photographs, and the aluminum is in nice shape with a shine. The sound of the clicking while fighting a trout is a special sound. While these pair perfectly with bamboo rods, I have enjoyed using it with 4/5 weight modern rods, It may be appropriate for up to 6 weight. This reel has a total weight of 136 grams or 4.75 oz. Spool has some paint loss on interior of the spool due to the oil on the silk line know to cause this due to long period of no use(Shown in last photo) Desirable unaltered ribbed brass foot and bushings. Ultra smooth reel with no play or wobble whatsoever. Original box has"3 3/8" ST. GEORGE" labels on side and top. All corners are in nice condition and the box. Overall, is in very good condition with original padding. Although this is a 2 screw latch 50's model, it is a very desireable reel for either collecting and or using.
