I thought fly fishing was going to be my new hobbie. But as it turns out I didn't make time for it. I did make time to do a ton of research and ended up buying the best equipment money can buy. This entire set up has only seen the light of day once, and beside that it has been kept in an air conditioned closet. Everything in this listing is new or used only once. I need the money, so my loss is your gain. What you are bidding on is: Hatch 5 plus Monsoon Fly Reel(Silver and Green in color) I paid $500 dollars for it a year ago. 5 plus means it can be used for 5-7 weight line and rod. It comes fully loaded with 7 weight Sceintific angler weight forward line and is rigged up using the salt water fly fishing system shown on Danscustomflys.com most the the 20 flys that come with this set up where made by him as well. I payed $80 for the fly ... moreline/backer and had it profesionally rigged up. I had the fly rod custom made. It is 9' piece 7 weight custom made by Ed Mc Shea. I payed $180 dollars for it and I have a list of every part used on it and the blank itself is still under warantee. It comes with a custom made blue jean bag as well. It will be shipped in PVC tubing. The 20 flys are all different styles(which average out to be over $5.00 each) 16 of which are salt water flys and 4 are fresh water. Most the salt water flys are made my Dans custom flys and have stainless steel hooks and epoxy resin over the body of the fly so they are made to last. It also comes with some braided loops for attaching the leader onto the fly line and a 9 foot tappered leader still in the package. I figure with shipping I payed close to $950.00 for everything. You are bidding on a MARRYAT MR8 reel 3" In gently used condition. I've caught many a trout on this reel and never an issue. Cut from aluminum bar stock and has an excellent drag. This reel was made in Japan and Serial no is stamped 019959. I've read where later on in the manufacturers history these reels were Swiss made and those had some issues. This reel has always performed flawlessly for me. It has the normal scratches on the outside and comes with the Rio WF4F line you see here in the pic's. The reel is remarkably light weighing a meer 2.8 ounces- roughly 30% less than comparable size Hardy reels cast from more traditional ... morealuminum alloy. Most suitable for 2 to 5 weight lines/rods. Reel can be fished with right or left hand retrieve by simply inverting the single click pawl. Stamped on the crank side face is HENDRYX still slightly visible. On the reel seat is stamped the numbers 200. The crank works and has a nice tight feel to it. There is no old line on the reel. This type of reel is featured in the book A Treasury of Reels on page 96. Some of the chrome is worn off as you can see in the photos. All the original screws are still on the reel and in good shape. This Ross Gunnison G-4 fly reel appears to have been rarely used and is free from blemishes. It is a pre-1998 model with the smoother. Polished finish instead of the matte finish. It comes with a lightly used Rio Versitip line that includes all four of the tips and the floating body section of the line. As you can see in third picture, the spool is the two-pin version, and thus the reel has a smoother sounding drag system.

Until 1939 when JW Young fitted it with a quick release cap. Even Allcock’s catalogue of 1939-40 still showed this reel with the securing screw. Production stopped for the duration of the war and re-appeared in 1947 as the improved Pridex/Gilmour reel.Please see my other Gilmour listed) The reel has a contracted ⅝ inch wide spool. It is mechanically perfect with a strong ratchet set for right hand wind and a spindle which is rock solid. It does have 2 minor flaws. Cosmetic scratches and bumps as shown that are the battle scars of many a trout fight on rivers and lakes. The tune this reel sings is still as crisp as the day it was first used and there is absolutely no reason why this reel will not go on for a lifetime catching fish. One of the bricks of the House of Hardy range it has been a bread and butter reel for larger lakes and fish.
