This auction is for a 9 foot fly rod and aluminum travel case. The rod was my father's and as far as I can remenber it was seldom used. The rod is approximately 65 years old and it appears to be in very good condition however the butt end does show some wear. Also one eyelet in the middle section needs to have the thread rewound. The rod is hexagnoal in shape and there are 3- 3 foot sections with an extra tip section. I have had the rod since my father died in 1961 but never used it as I wasn't interested in fly fishing. I have decided to sell it to someone who may be able to put this rod to good use. The travel case measures 39" in length and will be used th ship the rod. Here is a(Like New) Orvis Golden Eagle 8' 2/1 6wt. It is in absolutely beautiful condition. The rod has had one owner and was very lightly fished when new and then stored safely for decades. These rods were made on Phillipson epoxite blanks and are the pinacle of a good fiberglass rod. For the Orvis or Phillipson collector this is a must have. The rod. As with all Orvis rods, is overated and stated to be a 7wt. The rod is not good with a 7wt line, it feels tippy. However, if you put a DT6 cortland peach444 on this rod, it truly is magificent. Some people claim to use this rod for bass. I used it on a spring creeks in WY and it was the perfect rod for medium size rising trout. For sale at a fixed price is this early fiberglass fly fishing rod. It is a Sila Flex Medallion 2 piece 8 1/2 foot rod. It comes with the original metal tube(but cap is missing) and the original marked rod sack. Both pieces are the original matching length so the rod has not been broken and repaired. This rod has been rewrapped. This rod was balanced for what we call a 6 weight line these days and this one throws that weight well in my back yard. Condition of the rod is as described above. This is a very sought after fly rod because of the 7 foot size and high quality make. I found in a garage sale and never fished with it. Has 2 tips. Sock and aluminum case with cap. On Dec-06-12 at 16:01:21 PST. Seller added the following information: Additional information about condiction: The varnish is perfectly smooth with no blemishes or checks. The wraps. Guides and ferrules are all solid and tight. I can see no noticeable sets. The rod sock shows no signs of use either. It is clean with no water spots, mildew or dirt stains. I believe this rod was used very little throughout its life. I purchased the rod at a garage sale from a man that found it in the back of a cabin closet 20 years earlier during some ... moreconstruction. Up for auction is a Vintage Goodwin Granger Aristocrat 9' fly rod with original metal storage tube. The handle is marked: PAT APR.12.1938. PAT.NO.2.114.107, MADE BY GOODWIN GRANGER COMPANY DENVER. Cork handle does have some damage as shown in the images. The rod sections, eyes, and wrappings are all in very good condition. No cracks, bends, or other damage is visible. The auction includes four sections of fly rod. Canvas carry case, and metal storage tube. The metal tube has paint missing, and handling marks. There are no large or deep dents in the tube. OVER 100 YEARS OLD ABBEY & IMBRIE SPLIT BAMBOO BAIT-FLY ROD W/ORIGINAL COVER
This is an Abbey& Imbrie"Many Use" Split Bamboo Bait-Fly rod combination. The information on the original cloth carrying case has that information plus it says"Butt- 3" Joints( Extra tip, No. 3CC, Cork grip, 4-6 1/2, 9 ft( The cloth case has a couple of rips in it and some water marks. The pole fits neatly into a grooved core for safe keeping. I believe that A&I label was used from 1906-23. The rod is combination rod made by Montague in the early 1907-teens because of the reel seat and end plug, a variation of a 1907 patent. It is well over 100 years old and only had one owner. H L Leonard Bamboo Fly Rod Model 36
Up for sale is a H L Leonard Model 36 7 1/2' 3/2. All the sections are full length. Straight and the furrels are tight. Rod comes with bag and original tube as seen in pictures. The rod has been refinished and is smooth with no cracks on the guide wraps. The rod is honey colored with red wraps and a honey wood colored reel seat. I fished both tips a handful of times lightly casting dries on Silver Creek in Idaho and surrounding waters, it fished great as a 3 weight for me. The reason I'm selling is just that, I don't use this enough and would prefer to invest in some photography gear. The one flaw is the rod has a 1/2' clear wrap on one of the two tips.
