Hardy CC de France Palakona Bamboo Fly Rod
This is a Hardy CC de France Palakona fly reel. It is in very good condition as far as I can tell as I am not a fisherman. It belonged to my fathers collection and he was an avid fly fisherman. The serial number is H13293 which dates it from 1957. It comes with two tips and measures 82" in length. It has an agate 1st and tip guides. There is some minor damage to the wood 15 1/2" up from the base which I have included a picture of. Otherwise there are no other defects as far as I can tell. This listing is for a gorgeous scarfpin/brooch by John Hardy in sterling silver. It is signed and hallmarked. It is in the John Hardy box and includes the John Hardy polishing cloth(which has never been used) and the inspection paper from the craftsman in Bali. It is 2" in diameter and appears to be a wreath made of bamboo leaves with a butterfly centrally located. My mother tells me that these pieces were commissioned by Neiman Marcus and offered each year at Christmas as a collectors' item. I do not know if this is correct; however. I have not seen anything like this before. The attachment is more like a slide on clip than a pin and this could probably used in other ways than as a scarf pin or brooch. Fly rod and reel, Hardy exceptional condition
I bought this about 25+ years ago with the intention of seriously fishing. I never took it fishing. I practiced casting a few times but not near the water. Other things came up. Now it is time to get rid of things I don't use. This is a cream-puff. Both rod and reel. The only blemish is where I painted my name on the rod just above the handle. Incidentally the handle still has the plastic on it as they come new now. I will try to remove it. It is what is called a"red thread" model.
