Vintage ... moreHeddon Flyrod lure. The tiny Trout Fly Rod lure is a Plastic lure. The old Heddon is a tuff find in this good condition. The tiny crankait is only about 1 3/4" long. The old crankbaits lure has the Cream and Black eyes. The old Heddon Sonic is a unknown color code to me but sure the old heddon collector will know the code. The heddon crankbait is a Green Back, Pinkish under the Cream and Black eyes with a under chin line tie. The flyrod size sonic Heddon shows very well and should clean up a bit better but will leave that to the bidder, I am out of cleaner again. It would be hard to up grade this tiny heddon, slick lure. The heddon bait has a top fin and a cup type fin on the belly like the tiny fly rod punkinseed lures have. Many spinner blades, few stinkers and hooks, 3 fishing reels. Reels are vintage also, 2 of the 3 look like in need of repair. 2 Heddon Pal Brute Stick No. 6299 Fishing Rods Specials?
Here is a pair of rods. I could not find much information on them. They are Heddon Pal Brute Sticks. The action on these rods is marked Power Plus. Other than the number which is 6299. There is no much info such as class, line rating, etc. I do not know if these are normal or custom or what. The markings look well made and appear to be factory. One rod is 7 foot 1 inch and the other one is 6 foot 5 inch. I do not know what to think about the odd lengths and I could not find any info on these. I am thinking these are Heddon specials. All sections proper length- 36 1/2" What is so awesome is the rare original cardboard shipping tube with the buyer's address label with Heddon's return address- intact and very nice! Also with original aluminum tube and sock as well. This is truly a complete collectable package! The rod is in near mint condition- all sections perfectly straight. Most likely re-varnished at some point but apparently unused since! All original Heddon gold guides. Wraps and ferrules- in perfect shape. Only flaw I see is the sock's bottom edge had a little mending to it- but still in excellent shape- no holes and stitching/seams super. 1939-1941 HEDDON #202 "Lyon & Coulson Imperial" 8-1/2', 3/2 Split Bamboo Fly Rod
It's my pleasure to offer at auction a nice 1939-1941 HEDDON NO.202"LYON& COULSON- IMPERIAL" 8-1/2 FT. 3/2 SPLIT BAMBOO FLY ROD WITH ORIGINAL LABELED BAG& CORRECTLY LABELED ALUMINUM TUBE. Built as a"trade" rod by James Heddon's Sons for Lyon& Coulson of Buffalo, N.Y. and supplied to them from the mid 1930's until WWII. In terms of quality and cosmetics, the No.202"Imperial" would be the rough equivalent to the No.17"Black Beauty" from Heddon's regular rod line. Because this example is equipped with Heddon's down-locking seat(first used by Heddon on virtually every model starting in 1939) we can safely date this rod from 1939 to 1941. I've added a photo of the original listing from Lyon& Coulson's 1940 catalog. This particular model was built in what was called"Trout" ... moreaction, with a line recommendation equivalent to today's modern 6 wt. lines. Heddon's Cleo Hanley has handwritten"L& C IMPERIAL" on one flat and"202" on an adjacent flat, just above the hook keeper. The reel seat's locking ring is stamped"PAT. NO.1624052" the 1927 patent assigned to Heddon for the screw-locking reel seat. Comes equipped with extra tip section, all blackened hardware, agatine stripping guide, hardened Tungsten steel snake guides& tip tops, blackened nickel silver serrated ferrules, hook keeper, wound-over winding check, screw-locking"Hold-Tite" tenite reel seat, solid cork grip and wound in black silk tipped in orange. Rod is in about Fine condition for these, showing moderate overall wear. Bamboo is perfect, with no splits, cracks or delamination whatsoever. One tip section has had the tip top reset, resulting in a loss of 3/4" All three other sections are the correct equal length. Lot of Vintage Heddon Reels (Daisy made)
Here are 3 vintage Daisey era Heddon reels and one much older Heddon"Spin Pal" reel. The Heddon 260R is mechanicaly sound with strong bail spring. The Heddon 220R is mechanicaly sound with a strong bail spring. Anti reverse works well on both of these. The Heddon 233 reel is solid and has a very strong bail spring. However. The anti-reverse lever does not work properly and there is asmall chip out of the reel foot(won't have any impact on usability) The old Heddon"Spin Pal" works, but it feels sloppy to me. 4"REELY" neat old Heddons. Old Book Published Vintage Fisherman Modified Heddon Near Surface Wiggler
WOW. Another interesting fisherman creation. My opinion" on it is that it probably started life as a Heddon Near Surface Wiggler- then. Many moons ago, a creative fisherman shaved its sides and added a re-cut Heddon Crab Wiggler diving lip. Repainted by the fisherman who added silver flakes to the paint mix for added flash and appeal. It would surely reflect ligh! Another fun, fisherman hand modified lure, it would be great to add either to a fisherman modified or Heddon collection! This exact lure is shown on page 216 in the Fisherman Modified Factory Lure Section. This is just the FIRST of THREE different modified Heddon lures I'm auctioning this week so check the others out- authentic.
