VINTAGE HEDDON SPIN PAL 200 SPIN REEL - VERY RARE & UNIQUE MODEL - BX/TOOL/INSTR
Up for auction is a VINTAGE HEDDON SPIN PAL 200 SPINNING REEL. It comes in the ORIGINAL BOX. Which is a real dandy display box. Also has the ORIGINAL INSTRUCTION BOOKLET AND HEDDON TOOL. Both in excellent shape. Tool allows handle for right or left handed use. Pics show handle on each side. This is a RARE& UNIQUE REEL. The reel has some paint loss mainly due to laying around/tackle box? Please review the pictures thoroughly and bid accordingly. I try and illiustrate the reel and all sides of box adequately so no surprises! The reel is mechanically sound- and functions nicely as designed. Smooth retrieve and bail is an auto-open setup on the front of the reel's brown dial. Simply turn it counter-clockwise slightly with index finger and thumb. It clicks/locks and it's ready to cast. Works nice! This reel looks like the old casting ... morepush-button style but is not- a classic new spinning reel design at the time to, AT LAST. Spinning Becomes Simple! Vintage Heddon Fishing Rod pole and Rod holder / tube case
Up for bids is what I believe to be a heddon fishing pole with Heddon tube rod holder. Looks like it used to be a three piece but is missing its top piece. You get what you see in the pictures. I don't see any markings on the pole to identify it but it came inside the heddon tube. End of tube has Wire Wrap Pal Spin Casting 6743- 6' Cont Flex Action Heddon. Bottom piece measures 32 7/8" long and other section measures 32 3/4" long. These two pieces fit together nicely. Cork handle seems to be in good condition as well! Details about the Ferrule size designations, all the rod models, the various Heddon construction periods, the measurements of the ferrules so you can determine which ferrule size you have. Tryon, Marvin Hedge, Folsom Arms to name just a few. I've found several trade rods at bargain prices because the sellers didn't know their rod was a Heddon rod. Vintage T.K.W. Bamboo Fly Rod & Heddon 320 Reel w/Line 5 pcs. Low Reserve!
Gently Pre-Owned. This Rod and Reel Combo was given to my fiance by a local"old timer" while he was working on a job at this guys house. They are both vintage. The bamboo rod is marked"T.K.W. and although I did research this, I didn't find anything about it. I would think given that, it would make this a rather rare and unique rod. The reel however, is a Heddon 320. It is a Daisy Model with the parts having been made in JAPAN and assembled in the USA, and does come with line on it, and it is in working condition. This rod/reel combo comes as shown, there is no carrying case/bag for it. There are, however, what I would suppose are extra rod(top) pieces, as there are 5 pieces to this all together. It's really a beautiful rod, and is in overall very good vintage/antique condition, the only real noticeable is shown in the ... morephotos. There will be no returns for this auction, no refunds given. I am planning to move soon and am doing a major clean out before hand and need nothing coming back into my home that is on it's way out. This lure is a special re-issue of the Heddon River Runt as a part of the celebration of the centennial. 1894- 1994, of the James Heddon's Son's Company. The lure is new in the box. There is one tiny imperfection in the paint most likely done at the factory. I tried to show it in the 3rd picture but it's too light to be distinguishable. The paperwork which accompanies this lure gives a brief discussion of the Heddon Company and on the reverse side an interesting history of the development of the River Runt lure. Up for auction rather nice and quite Scarce 1912-1914 HEDDON NO.1"HEDDON'S DOWAGIAC" NON LEVEL-WIND"TAKE-APART" CASTING'TRADE' REEL. These were the first reels to ever carry the Heddon name and were sold for only a short period from 1912 to 1914. Built as a"trade" reel for James Heddon's Sons by A.F. Meisselbach& Bro. of Newark. N.J. and is one of the toughest, most desireable reels from either company. With the exception of the model name, these were identical in every way to Meisselbach's famous No.580"Tripart" The faceplate is stamped"HEDDON'S DOWAGIAC" while the tailplate carries the five 1904 to 1909 patent dates. Under the lower cossmember is stamped"A.F. Meisselbach& Bro. Newark, N.J. U.S.A. 80 YARDS" I've added a photo of the original listing ... morefrom Heddon's 1914 catalog. Also included is a photo from page 61 Phil White's classic reference"Meisselbach and Meisselbach-Catucci Fishing Reels" where he shows the first 1912 listing and discusses the rarity of the reel. Comes equipped with strong clicker, tension control, a counterbalanced handle with what appears to be a pyralin grip and a complete"takeapart" feature that allows the reel to be completely disassembled for servicing by simply unscrewing the endplate rings by hand. Reel is in about Good to Very Good condition for these, showing moderate to heavy overall wear and brassing, but still displaying nicely. Works perfectly and remains very smooth-running. Still a nice example of Heddon's first reel. A tough number to come by in any condition and one that would enhance any Heddon or Meisselbach collection. NO cracks, chips or hairlines. The lure has the right eye sunken down in a little as compared to the left eye! The lure was closely inspected with a 10x jewelers glass. We found one very small impression on the right side and general handling marks. This rare beauty displays with a clean crisp glossy factory like finish. Again, the lure was professionally re-painted in a Golden Scale CRAPPIE color code. NO nicks or serious damage found in our opinion! The hooks and hardware are clean clean clean. 1905-1909 Heddon Artistic Minnow No 51
Heddon’s Artistic Minnow. This one is a#51 Blended Gold color variation. Complete with the scarce weight-buoy. Early box, and information sheet. Light varnish chipping on sides, more on left, and a finish chip at the top of bait just behind glass eyes(see photos) Doesn’t look like it was ever in the water. The buck hair is yellow to white with a shot of red at the end. One hook has light rust, likely from being held with fingers. Gold plating on metalwork is 100% and bright. The single bottom weight in body shows through the finish, which is typical. The box is the proper early red variety with white labels. The top label has light loss at the edges on right, and left end. Both ends are marked“Heddon’s“Dowagiac” Artistic Minnow Blended Gold No. 51” The scarce weight-buoy has a single weight hole in body, with a crescent of paint loss where ... morethe weight hole plug is proud. The Instruction sheet has a ¾” split at the fold in the center. A rare Heddon lure in un-fished condition. On Jan-25-13 at 11:35:56 PST. Seller added the following information: The bait currently listed came out of an old estate. And was in a"time capsule" small tackle box, from the period, so it hasn't been repaired. With that said, I reviewed the box, and you will be happy to know none of the corner seams have split. The box stock is the red cardboard. It is wrapped with white paper in the original construction. I notice on one corner of the bottom part of the box(verses the top or lid) has a loose white paper on the inside, it appears that the glue has released, and the two red panels will flex with squeezed. The other corner on the long side of the box bottom also has the inner white paper loose. However the white paper on the outside on that corner is un-torn on both of these corners as well as the other corners. I think any collector will be happy with this box. It is sound, with bright graphics and only minimal loss at the edges of the top and end labels. On the top of the box, the corner bottom edges are worn very slight
