I have a limited knowledge of vintage fishing lures, so I am describing what I see the best I can. This is a FRED ARBOGAST JITTERBUG fishing lure. This lure was introduced in 1938. JITTERBUG is printed in red on top. And on the metal front plate Jitterbug FRED ARBOGAST Akron, Ohio Patent Numbers 2261867 2207425 2429339( The lure is pre-1975 as the operations moved from Akron. Ohio to Hamilton. Ohio in 1975. The largest number denotes the patent year at 1947. But I do not know if this is the year the lure was made or the last year that a new patent for this type of Jitterbug was applied for. I am not sure from what material it is constructed.some paint loss from use. Jitterbug name decal is complete. It has two treble hooks on bottom near back and the metal plate at the front. VINTAGE FRED ARBOCAST JITTERBUG FISHING LURE Akron Oh.
In the 1930s. Arbogast introduced a number of new lures, including the flat-headed Wiggler, which Arbogast dressed up with a patented rubber skirt to create the Hawaiian Wiggler. But Arbogast’s biggest contribution to the world of fishing lures was probably the wooden. Peanut-shaped Jitterbug, introduced in 1937 and patented in 1940. In fact. The Jitterbug began in the 1920s as a failed attempt on Arbogast’s part to create a plug lure similar to ones being made by Heddon. Arbogast’s prototype had been carved from a piece of broomstick attached to the bowl of a spoon, but it was only after tinkering with the lure a decade later that it became the Jitterbug. THIS LURE IS OLD BUT IN GREAT SHAPE FOR IT'S AGE

Many spinner blades, few stinkers and hooks, 3 fishing reels. Reels are vintage also, 2 of the 3 look like in need of repair. This lure could be un-fished we would have no way of knowing. This displays with a pristine white body and red head. NO serious damage found anywhere. This one has the plastic lip fully intact. Often times these are found with a damaged lip. The plastic lip Jitterbugs were only made during the WWII era due to all metal being used for the war. It's doubtful you'll a nicer one anytime soon. This Jitterbug's a beauty! THE BOX: This was found in just the box bottom. There is NO LID for this particular box. There's no serious damage found on the box. There's light soiling.
