And after multiple years of suggestions, pleading, and begging, Tiburon Engineering finally broke down and came up with a Newell 229 reel frame, model number N229. This frame will allow you to use braided spectra line on your Newell 229 without fear of the graphite base cracking or the three-piece frame warping. This also tightens up the tolerances between the inner ring and the spool(proper bearing adjustment still required) and also aligns the bearings better for freespooling/casting purposes. Unfortunately. This frame will NOT WORK with later C-series and early S-series 229 reels that have a"through-the-frame" design. You can tell if your Newell 229 fits this description by removing the sideplates. Another indicator is if your 229 has metal bearing cups on both the handle and clicker side. The generations of Newell 229 that this frame will work on include: G229 P229"no letter" 229 early generation C229 Valley Manufacturing(Sun Valley) S229-3.6. S229-5 This black frame was Type-II hard-anodized for maximal corrosion protection. But please be certain to grease all the screws and inner rings prior to installation with either Cal's drag grease or Daiwa blue marine grease! Used Newell P220 F as pictured. These are great little reels. Just completely serviced by Fisherman's Landing in San Diego. Includes the hard to find original bottom real seat bracket and original screws as shown in the pictures. Drag is smooth and comes with used 20 lb test line. Mechanically perfect except the end of the handle is a little sticky. Cosmetically good with minor handling rash as shown in the pictures. Ebay rating is very important to me. Please see pictures. PENN 146 SQUIDDER WITH NEWELL COMPONENTS
You are bidding for a Penn Squidder reel with ball bearings that make it extremely smooth casting. This is the narrow spool#146 version. It is a full size#140 that has been modified with Newell components to turn it into a#146. Newell components are the bars. Spool and reel seat with clamp. The Newell components are probably worth more than the basic reel as Newell is out of business. This reel is in excellent condition with no corrosion or pitting. Drag has been updated to carbon fiber. I am the original owner.

Hello! This is the holy grail of snapper rods! This combo is amazingly fast and tons a backbone. The reel is a Penn 4/0 High Speed with a complete Newell Broadbill Conversion which makes it extra wide. It also has the amazing and VERY hard to find Newell 4-1 Gear kit already installed. I had a Accurate Power Handle put on it for that extra torque. The Rod is a beautiful Custom wrapped Key Largo rod Its 50lb class and has only been used once. I put around 300 yards of 60lb Spectra Braid on it for Grouper Jigging here in South Florida. I really hate to see this combo go but im trying to buy a house. This is a wonderfu l OLD Coin Silver Spoon by Newell Harding. I t has a scalloped/shell shap ed bowl. Could be used for sugar or salt. It is in great condition! It is NOT marked Sterling. Leading me to believe it is Coin Silver. Espescially because of the age when coin silver was mo re popularly used. Dates to around 1851-186 2 when Harding was producing. M arked: None Makers Mark: N. 2 Vintage Penn 133 /40 and 507 aluminum spools by Newell
I bring you treasures from local sales. Cleanouts and storage unit and regular auctions. I picked up quite a bit of fishing and military items that I will be listing over the next few weeks. The fishing items were from one person's estate who collected. Maintained and sold at fishing shows in Delaware and New Jersey. I bought quite a bit from this estate and kept some for myself. The big stuff I am selling off at a savings to my fellow Ebayers! Up for auction is for 2 Vintage penn aluminum spools by Newell. Boxes say 1 fits model 507 and the other is 133 4/0.
