This is a VERY NICE Vintage PFLUEGER MEDALIST 1495 1/2 DA FLY Fishing Reel MADE IN USA. The reel is in excellent mechanical condition and looks hardly used. I.e. it has a great appearance with only a little(very little) light spec on the very edges of the side rims. It is equipped with a nice looking fly line as shown, but I am not a fly fisherman so I would not know the size or type of line. Pictures show well. What you see and what I have described is what you get. I will start the bidding at $1 dollar and NO RESERVE. This auction is for an Old Mepps Aglia Long 3 Spinner that is still in the original unopened package. From the looks of the package. I would think this one dates back to the 60’s, but I am not an expert. Also included in this auction is one old Pflueger Tandem Spinner that says Pflueger on one blade with the bulldog trademark stamped on the blade as well. There is a little tiny rust spec on the blades, but not much. It is missing the trailing feather dressed hook at the rear of the lure. What you see and what I have described is what you get. Selling a nice lot of small vintage fishing spoons. From left to right there are two Tom Mack(as stamped in the spoon) 2s ptd. 1921. 2 McMahon#4s chrome, 2 chrome Pflueger Limper#4s. I assume the Tom Macks are Luhr Jensen though is is not stamped in them. One Tom Mack is near new, and may not have ever been fished. The other Mack is execellent, and the others are very good. The spoons look better than the pics-chrome is shinier, and writing is clear. Also have a couple of other lots up for sale. Would comsider a group deal on the lots. The reel is similar to the Four Brothers REGAL number 223. Counter balanced crank handle with a white celluloid knob in excellent condition. The reel runs very smoothly. Strong clicker. Plate diameter 2 inches. Line capacity of 60 yards of braided silk line. Pilar 1-7/8" Weight: 5.2 oz. The reel shows normal wear and should grade an 8 on appearance and 9 mechanically based on the ORCA Reel Grading scale of one to ten. The Pflueger Pal-O-Mine was introduced in 1925 and it continued to be in the product line well into the 1950's. It was first offered in two sizes. 4-1/4" and 3-1/4" and at least twelve colors. In 1932, a smaller(2-3/4" size was added. The larger(4-1/4" size carries two belly trebles and a trailing treble(3T) The two smaller sizes have only one belly treble and a trailer(2T) All carry identical diving lips which are fitted into a notch at the nose. but all diving lips are not marked. The vast majority of them are found with pressed eyes. A few of them were made with glass eyes. The glass eyes are considered rare and add ... moresignificantly to the valuation. Please check out the pictures carefully. The lure we have here is the 3-1/4" version with the single belly treble and a trailer(2T) This lure is a rare find on two counts. First. It does have a"marked" diving lip and it is equipped with glass eyes. Overall, this lure is in very good condition. The diving lip, hardware and hooks are all still bright and the glass eyes are perfect. The finish is intact with some scattered hook pointers and a few minor drags. The paint has yellowed just a tad on the belly and it has taken on a very nice vintage crazing or crackle. Look this one over seriously. For bid is an antique fishing lure by Pflueger(Enterprise Mfg) of Akron. Ohio. I haven't seen another like it searching ebay and google, so I'm thinking it is rare. The previous owner says it was made in the 1890's. The lure still has much of its silver and red paint(once luminous paint? I found a website that shows a copy of a patent issued to Ernest F. Pflueger in 1883. See here: The patent is for Pflueger's idea of painting lures with luminous paint so fish could see the bait easier at night. The second page of the patent shows a lure very similar to the one I'm selling(a spinner-less minnow) I've seen just a couple of Pflueger lures similar to this one that have sold on ebay recently. But they all have spinners of some kind. I'm wondering, since the lure I'm selling does not have a spinner of any kind, ... morecould it be one of the earliest made by Pflueger? Total extended length from tip of swivel to tip of feathers is about 7 inches. Minnow is about 2-1/2 inches long. I think the lure is made of rubber. But I don't know for sure. I cant remember the year for these reels but to be honest they are some of my favorite reels to use on my old bamboo rods. You can use this on a glass rod as well. I had this reel buffed out a few years ago it has been sitting with my other equipment untouched for about 2 years now. If you got a few mins and a buffing tool you will have a true shinner. Vintage Pflueger ? Heddon ? 3 Surface / Popper Fishing Lure Lot Side Holes 1920s
Four vintage floating or popper type fishing lures. I don't know who made these. But one of my books identifies the hook attachments on the three lures with the side holes as having been used by Pflueger about 1928. The book also indicates that Heddon used similar hook attachment types. Lot includes: 1) Yellow lure with 4 1/4 inch long body and three holes in each side. Holes angle forward and at least the rear two are connected. All three of the lures with side holes have a swivel attachment on the front. This unusual 3-hook minnow has an unusual shape and unusual variation of rainbow color- so I cant tell if it is a model made by regular makers like Heddon or Pflueger or a trade minnow of some sort. Has sort of a sway belly and cup hardware that resembles Heddon wood box models. But glass eyes are smaller than usual and props are unmarked. Condition is well-used with chips and damage but it is a looker in terms of color and unusual shape. Everything in this group of auction s is as- found.
