Reel has no rust, corrosion or pitting, but shows a little wear on foot and rims(not bad, some metal polish might help) Reel is very tough to find first or second year 1935 or 1936 model number 1993L. The 1993L model was made for many years, but this one can be dated by some of its features. The spare pawl cap and levelwind pawl cover are raised, the handle knob coloration is very early, the levelwind end is not slotted and the foot screws are slotted. 1936 was the year that Pflueger went to Phillips head screws on foot.1935 was the year of introduction for the 1993L aluminum ... morespool version. Old Vintage LAST LW engraved VERSION Pflueger SUMMIT Reel near MINT SUPER TOUGH!
Super tough Final 1993L"engraved" Version of the Pflueger Summit LW ABL Casting Reel! Recently serviced! Near mint condition! Final version of the"engraved" series. This reel is extremely tough to find in any condition. Let alone this condition! We know its the last version, made around 1970 because of the absence of the grease door and the spare pawl in head cap. This version also has the welded foot, wide flange LW bearing housing on tail, thinner"engraved" crank, and all metal end caps. The LW assembly housing is also made of plastic. Which cut production costs, and also quality. Over time, this housing had the tendency to"shrink" or"contort" and"pinch" the line guide block as it traveled across the carriage screw(worm gear) This reel spins smoothly, strong click and brake, and ... morethe knobs turn freely. Line guide travels fine but because of the"pinch" described earlier"drags" the reel from spinning completely free. You could remove some material"free" the reel up but I think that would be a bad move! Don't get me wrong, you flick the crank and she spins nice, but doesn't spin forever. Anyways, check out all the photos for complete cosmetic condition. Again, very hard find. Production was very limited as they weaned this model out of service. I could find 10 of the"first LW" version(also listed tonight) before I could find one of this version! Maybe just bad luck on my part, who knows. But here it is, the final LW version of the Pflueger Summit, in near MINT condition, offered to you with a penny start, 7 day soak, and no reserve. Good luck! WOW! Awesome First LW Version of the Pflueger Summit! Recently serviced! And when I say recently serviced. I mean this reel was a hunk of coal.black as black could be. Oxidation, dirt, grease, oil, fish guts, etc! Id say she cleaned up mighty well. She spins like a raped ape, clear amber knobs turn freely on"engraved" crank, line guide travels with out a hitch. We know this is the first LW version because of the German Silver construction, absence of the spare pawl and grease door from head cap, absence of the"Made in USA" on the LW pinion housing cover, checkered" design on perimeter of head cap and LW housing, wide agate tiered end caps, 2 patent dates inside head plate, large forward facing pawl retention screw, and the slotted screws attaching foot. Whew! Was that one sentence! Low amplitude" wave design. ... moreMade around 1927ish. The slide click button is very hard to engage. The click spring and pawl are intact. This right-hand wind reel is in very good condition mechanically. Good plus cosmetically with moderate scratches and rim wear. The bottom rim of the body on the head plate side is stamped"DIAMOLITE/LINE GUARD No.1494 MADE IN/AKRON, O. U.S.A. The reel has a permanent click and a friction drag knob on the rim of the tail plate. The bottom of the foot is stamped"F" The spool is filled with a vintage brown floating fly line of unknown test which may or may not prove serviceable. An American classic.

Classic Pflueger Ohio No.1978 Saltwater Casting Or Trolling Reel
This classic reel has rust on the spool and light pitting on the chrome plating on the frame. Otherwise cosmetically in very good condition. The reel is mechanically very good. There is a strong on/off click button on the tail plate. The tail plate also has a list of patents, the last one issued in 1926, also"OTHER PATENTS PENDING" The head plate has a free spool throw-off lever(not working) and a star drag. The spool is partially loaded with a useable monofilament line of unknown test. This vintage reel is still in good fishable condition.
