Hard rubber right plate ring and tail plate are scratched but and have no chips or cracks. Nickel plating shows wear and pitting. There is green corrosion on the spool. Marked with January 22. 1907 and Apr. 3. 1923 patent dates on the tail plate. The foot is loose and the screw heads are corroded. The handle is bent. I think this reel dates to the 1920's. The next two reels says HAwthorne, Model No. 352 and beneath that it says 60-6309, Montgomery Ward& Co. Made in the USA and they have scenes etched on them. New-old-stock Pflueger level wind reel dealer parts assortment in the factory metal case. There are 49 compartments of mainly NOS parts, but I was able to identify a few that show some use. Notice the nice print-out identifying the parts and part numbers. There are scratches on the green case. But it is very straight and solid with a slide-lock closure. I have not counted the items in the box, but there are a lot of them. I'm not sure if all the parts line-up with the print-out or not. Please look at the photos and judge for yourself. The metal case measures: 10" ... morex 10-3/4" x 1" Without packaging it weighs in at 4-pounds. 10-ounces. CONDITION: The metal box is in good vintage condition with scratches in the paint. But still sturdy with nice solid hinges and a slide-lock closure. The print-out is in good readable condition, but it does have some hand-written notes& vintage prices on it. 99% of parts appear to be new-old-stock. Antique Heavy Cast Brass Crayfish/Lobster Fishing Lure, Pflueger?
I bought this recently at an auction. No information was given. In one of my photographs I show it in a display box. That is how it was when I obtained it. In that same photo is the back of the box. Someone glued. What appears to be part of a cardboard box, to the back. The picture has no writing on it. Unfortunately, whoever made this display glued the top and bottom of the box together. I had to slip a knife between them and it definitely caused damage to the display box, all hidden when closed. I did not cause any damage to the contents nor to the card on the bottom. Inside was the lure plus a paper from Pflueger. That is my only clue this could be a Pflueger. It appears to have been sand-casted. The swivel I show in close-up is the most crudely made one I have ever seen. I'm sure this is a very old piece. I don't know that the ... morehooks are original. 14 Vintage Fly Fishing Reels 14 Vintage Fly Fishing Reels. Most of these reels have something wrong with them. So we will list each one and describe it's condition& defects. Some reels have line, but we don't know what brand they are or their specs. Please refer to the photo's for further cosmetic condition details. From left to right, starting at the top left: Pflueger Sal-Trout No. 1554 USA. Mechanically this reel is sound with an undamaged clicker gear and a spool that does not rub. The reel has click/free-wheel modes& switches between the two OK. It has some corrosion on the hardware and spool and loss of finish on the housing. Aluminum spool and housing. Bakelite crank knob spins on it's shaft. Edwards Mfg. Co. of Chicago No. 40 reel. The housing has a couple of bends. But the spool does not rub. Undamaged clicker ... moregear. No free-wheel mode- click only. The spool retainer screw is stripped, but it tightens down ok- there is no wobble to the spool. Aluminum housing& spool has wear, scratches and light corrosion. Aluminum crank knob does not spin on it's shaft. This reel is marked on the white plastic hub on the back: 3-Square Symbol) BOEHOXOT N-1- there are no other markings on this reel. Aluminum spool and housing with loss of finish& spool rubs a little. Has click/no click and drag& they all work. The clicker gear and striker are worn. But the reel clicks ok. There is a tiny rusted forcing screw on the center of the spool hub that is used to remove the spool. Reel crank knobs are bakelite and spin OK. H-I 1855 Reel. Marked"Japan" on reel seat. Aluminum housing& spool. Has click/no click and switches between the two ok. But clicker gear is worn out and it barely clicks in click mode. Wilby Reel. All aluminum with steel reel seat. Has a stamped-steel clicker gear that while quiet. Has an odd feel. No free-wheel mode and the spool rubs a little. Bristol No. 66 Reel. This would be a decent reel. But the click/no click spring is broken and it only has click mod

this is a somewhat unusual medalist that has"patent pending" and"patented" sta mped into the frame. T hese marks date the reel to 1938 or 1939 a time at which the patent had been granted but the plant was still using the stock that was marked patent pending due to w ar time shortages. unfortunately some uninspired being has removed a vast majority of the original finish.

There are not many repair parts left in it but some. You also receive a bottle of vintage Pflueger Speede reel oil#379. It is actually completely full. There is also a small tube of Pflueger Run Free gear grease#2120 I have added to the case. Quite a bit left but the tube does have a cut in it so grease can squirt out the cut if tube is squeezed. Vintage Pflueger Progress No 1774 brass fly reel wood handle nice clean
For auction is a very nice mid 1900's Pflueger Progress No. 1774 solid brass frame with aluminum spool fly reel. This model has the slide option between click and free spin and functions properly. This reel is very clean and an absolute joy to use. The brass is very shiny. It is difficult to capture in photographs, and the aluminum is in nice shape with a shine. The sound of the clicking while fighting a trout is a special sound. While these pair perfectly with bamboo rods, I have enjoyed using it with 4/5 weight modern rods, It may be appropriate for up to 6 weight. This reel has a total weight of 136 grams or 4.75 oz. Greetings; Up for bids today is a Vintage Pflueger#1554 Sal-Trout Fly reel with original box and line chart. This reel is in good condition for its age. It operates smooth and positive. No dents. Deep scratches, or signs of abuse. There is paint loss on edges especially on back side( as seen in photo) The box shows moderate shelf wear, but it's in one peice and solid no major rips or holes.
