I don’t know the exact manufacture date, but from what I’ve read on the internet this Tavistock was introduced in 1937 and it was a huge technological advancement in surveying with its design. Other manufactures copied the design and improved upon it. FREE SHIPPING, with insurance and tracking within the 48 states. No international sales, local pickup avaliable. I can hand deilver if your close to my area. This Tavistock is used, and has some paint chips, however the scope and bubbles are intact and working, cross hairs are intact, no broken glass anywhere. The unique viewing scopes for reading the verniers are also intact. All the mirrors for reflecting the light thru the unique glass verniers are also working ... moreand will reflect the light as it should. Measuerments are 11” tall, scope is 7-3/4” long. All adjustment dials work like they should. I tried to take pictures of the verniers thru the viewing scopes, but its hard to do. I’ve acquired an original Tavistock booklet for this theodolite showing the use and specs. and how to read the glass verniers which is included. For auction. Vintage Cooke Troughton& Simms transit, theodolite. I don’t know the exact age, but there is a card attached to the inside of the wood box that shows adjustment/repairs in 1949. I did see something on the internet that said it possibly made in the early 1900’s. If anybody has any good info on dates of manufacture, I would love to hear from you. This one has 8 different tools, accessories or attachments for the transit mounted inside the box, including the original unusual shaped plumb bob. The original wood box measures 14-1/2” x 7-1/2” x 7-1/2” Scope measures 8” long. All magnifying glass’s for the verniers are intact, they might need some cleaning. The cross hairs are intact and visible along with the only leveling bubble. There is no broken glass on this. Transit will also come with a custom made aluminum tripod adaptor ... moreto mount to any modern type tripod with 5/8” screw, and should fit other Cooke, Troughton& Simms transits, including the Tavistock models. HULLABALOO, HOLLYWOOD SQUARES, THE RED SKELTON SHOW, THE ANDY WILLIAMS SHOW& MORE WHERE MOST CELEBRITIES WERE AVAILABLE FOR AUTOGRAPHS BEFORE AND AFTER TAPINGS. IT WAS A TIME WHEN ACCESS TO THE STARS WAS EASY. BASICALLY THERE WAS NO SECURITY AT THE EMMY AWARDS AND VERY LITTLE AT THE ACADEMY AWARDS& MOVIE PREMIERES. IN THE 1980'S WE OPENED A RECORD STORE WHICH GAVE ME ACCESS TO MANY RECORD SIGNING EVENTS AT MY DISTRIBUTORS' LOCATIONS AND SOME EVENTS SPONSORED BY DISTRIBUTORS.
