Fishing Up for consideration is a vintage DAM Quick 440 spinning reel made in West Germany. This is a nice reel that functions flawlessly. Cosmetically. The reel is in very good to excellent condition with a nice textured black finish and brigt vivid graphics. The reel exhibits little wear to the finish but does have some minor rubbing on the bottom right edge of the case and along the sharp rear edge of the rotating head. The crank handle also shows some minor corrosion. Despite the cosmetic issues, this reel presents very well and is very well suited for fishing or adding to a vintage tackle colelction. The medallion on this reel only reads"Cardinal 4" and it is at the bottom of the side plate(on the Zebco models I've seen. The label is in the upper part of the side plate) I don't know if that means anything? This reel has a white knob on the back(drag? an anti-reverse switch on the left side, and the Abo medallion on the left side. There is a label on the spool shroud that reads"Saltwater Proof" The bail spring is strong, and everything on the reel is working properly. It has some paint issues, but it is otherwise in pretty good shape. GARCIA MITCHELL 408 ULTRALIGHT SPINNING FISHING REEL– There is a person’s name etched next to serial number 0396083(please see pictures) The fishing line is possibly around a 6 or 8 pound test. The color of the reel is a mid-night blue. The bail snaps into position properly and the function of the reel has a very nice easy smoooooth action. The Mitchell 408 has the flip handle for easy storage. There is very minor wear overall. The reel has a 5 to 1 ratio. The Garcia Mitchell 408 was designed for ultra light spinning fishing. It is not as common as other Mitchell models eg. Mitchell 300) A little known fact is the Garcia Mitchell 408 was named in honor of Frank Borman.
