up for bids is a very rare mitchell half bail spinning reel. this reel has been professionally restored. Paint stripped,chrome pieces replated and repainted with high tech catalyst paint. this reel was in good shape, worked fine but almost all the paint was worn off so i decided to redo it. i reassembled it with new screws and high tech lube.notice the marks on the spools that look like roman numerals,the spool on the left is a shallow spool and the one on the right is a deep spool. if you had the correct drag knob on the spool you could tell what spool you had on even if it was full of line. just a little info for the folks not famillar with these old mitchells. could not find any numbers on this reel so that would put it made prior to 1949. i get all my info on these old mitchell reels from the mitchell reel museum and the book by wallace ... morecarney. never proved them wrong.as far as i know every piece on this reel is original except for the new screws. not 100% the box is original but it looks just the one in the manual for this reel. Reel finish is good with a couple of tiny marks on the rotor, and edge wear on the housing cover corner at rear bottom. Though the housing itself looks ver good, there are a few small flakes o the left edge of the reel foot. The manual is in very good condition. The spare spool is in NOS condition, with it's box in good condition. Both spools have all their components present per the schematic. Thommen Record B 50 8 Spinning Reel Transitional Thommen name is stamped unto the housing cover rather than cast as in later reels; I beleive that this reel was produced at the point of Thommen aquiring Record. Gearing is very smooth. Bail snap is strong, ant-reverse is very firm. For those unaware, these reels do have anti-reverse; it is the silver knurled knob on the handle housing. When engaged, one half turn rearward will engage the anti-reverse. Spool removal is accomplished by completely tightened the rear drag knob, then unscrewing the spool from the axle. Baill wire is in excellent condition with the roller feel moving. Reel finish is very good, with just some edge silvering.wear on the housing. NEW IN BOX MINT GARCIA MITCHELL 400 SPINNING REEL 1962 MATCHING NUMBERS
this reel appears to have never been wound with line. there are no dents/scrapes/scratches anywhere on the reel. any blemishes you see in the photos are dust. everything w orks as expected. also includes mint unused large reel. this is a first version reel. As it has the 4 star drag and the small hole in the anti-reverse lever the box shows some wear. the original paperwork and manual is missing. this reel is midnight blue has 5 to 1 retrieve ratio serial number is 3700494. foot and box#s match. I believe this reel is from 1962. But I am not an expert on these reels, so ask questions!

Up for bid is a VINTAGE SHAKESPEARE No. 2062 NL-2 SPINNING REEL. IN REAL SMALL PRINT IT READS MODEL EF This reel was made in the USA as seen in the last photo. The reel is in good condition. It spins freely but could use a good oiling to maxi mize perf orm ance. The reel has some wear with some paint worn off but over all it is in very good condition.
