There is about a 4 inch long peeling of the very outer layer of graphite. A generous layer of guide epoxy was professional ly applied over th is area. Mainly to pr event it from spread ing. This small fault does not hurt the functionality of this rod at all. I have se ve ral rods listed with this same type of issue and I have been usin g them for year s. Th is rod will last for years. It is in great condition otherwise. This rod was originally a factory second from St. Croix and the warranty has expired. St. Croix partially removes the label/epoxy at the base ... moreof the blank. St. Croix Forge Horseshoe Candle Holder Pillar Candle Size
This is a pillar candle stand that is made of two 5 1/4" long by 5" wide horseshoes that are both marked"St. Croix Forge" on the underside and a concave round metal plate tack welded to the top. This piece measures 7 1/2" tall and is about 8" front to back at the longest point. The back of the bent shoe to the outside edge of the metal plate. It is about 6 1/2" wide measures the widest point the outside edge of the curved horseshoe to the outside edge of the metal plate, looking at it straight ahead as in photo 1. The metal plate candle holder is 5 3/4" in diameter and has a 2 1/4" flat center with the welded rounded up in the center of it. So it has a nice wide drip lip. You can also see that the metal plate has some black marks on it. The underside of the bottom shoe has small felt dot shaped ... morepads glued to it to keep it from marring your surfaces.
