This is in amazing condition for it's age. The reel seat looks new and it's original. I would say this rod is from the 70's. The guides are braid friendly. I'm guessing the"H" in the 210 H means hea vy but. This rod is not heavy. It's limber at the tip and it's got some great action. It has 6 guides plus the tip. There are some scratches and dings under the flex coat from years of use. It's a beautiful rod. I will ship international but. It may have to be Prio rity because of the length. Any questions? ◄█ Vintage 2-Piece Fiberglass Garcia Conolon 2165 Saltwater spinning/surf rod in excellent condition. Unfortunately pictures cannot do this rod justice. In fact. I don't think I can explain what an amazing vintage piece this is and how substantial it feels in your hand. According to the Garcia label, this 9'6" rod is a"FAST TAPER, MEDIUM ACTION" ROD. It does not have a line or lure weight rating on the label but it comfortably threw 5-ounce cut bait for me without any issues. The bottom piece is 48.75" long. The top piece is 67" long. The cork handles are approximately 1.375" in diameter and where the rod blank protrudes from the top cork handle, the rod is about 13/16" in diameter. The ferrule is solid machined aluminum with what appears to be brass electroplating. It seats very firmly and actually ... moretakes quite a bit of muscle to seat and unseat. The cork handles are in excellent condition with no foul odor, mold, mildew, etc. The fighting butt has some surface cracks from age(pictured) but does not feel weak or brittle and is fully functional- it is not chalking and does not leave residue on your hand. The top piece of the reel seat has a small dent in it(pictured) but it does not affect the rod's performance. Both seat tightening rings spin freely and the threads are in perfect condition. All seven of the stainless steel guides(to include the tip) and guide wraps are in excellent condition. The gold paint has some light surface scuffs and discoloration here and there but overall is in very nice shape. ◄█ I will package carefully and ship via USPS Parcel Select. R. L. Winston Winther-Stoner Mfg. Co. Early Split Bamboo Surf Rod Mint Condition
If there is a museum of early fishing history. This rod from a bay area estate surely has a place. In 1929 Robert Winther and Lew Stoner started what is known today as the R.L. Winston Rod Company. Originally calling their company the Winston-Stoner Manufacturing Co. they later combined elements from both their names, and renamed it the R.L. Winston Rod Company. This very early Split Bamboo Ten Foot Surf Rod is in the original canvas holder and dates from the very beginnings of R.L Winston when both the R.L. Winston and Winther-Stoner Mfg. Co. names were being used. The rod is in mint condition and appears to be unused. The bamboo, which is one inch in diameter where the handle attaches, is tight and straight, with the original finish and a rich dark honey color. The wraps and eyes are all like new as can be see in the pictures. The tip eye ... moreis perfect but is loose and needs to be re glued. The turned wood handle appears to be made of oak or hickory and has a rich aged patina. The canvas holder is in amazing condition for its age. It is dirty but has only small holes and retains the original ties, and the R.L. Winston/Winther-Stoner Mfg. Co. label, as shown in the pictures. Stamped into the nickel-silver ferrule at the base of the top section of this rod is"1123-B-6 1/2 Shakespeare Made in USA" Shakespeare started making bamboo rods around 1920 and this very early example from an estate in the San Francisco Bay area is outstanding. This rod dates from 1931 and was known as Lyons Special Surf Casting Rod. The bamboo is tight and straight and the handle and rod have the original finish. It appears to have had little or no use. Bait has a blemish right between the eyes,looks like bait was pressed against something and made a tiny flat spot. Rubber handle with ceramic lined guides. Dark green fiberglass with black wrapping. Reel seat is markred HAPS-22. A few very tiny rubs on finish which are very insignificant. The upper metal taip and next two guides are damages and need to be replaced. As shown in photos. The other guides that are complete have wear on black finish and some oxidation. J. K. Fisher Custom Built Surf Rod, great rod for Newell, Abu or....
J. K. Fisher is 10'4" total length. It's wrapped conventional. Rated 2 to 6oz.w/8 Fuji sic guides, AAA ring cork handle, graphite Fuji trigger reel seat. It was re-wrapped/re-built and extended 4" by Mike at M&D Tackle near the Ditch/ Cape Cod Canal. The distance from the butt to the trigger is about 23.75" The cork butt, guides and wraps are all in good shape. The blank is good. The only minus is that the glossy finish coat on the blank is about gone. I had this matched up with both a Newell P229 and an Abu 7000 Big Game. Great surf or jetty stick, plugs, pencils, bucktails for stripers. I simply have too many rods and have an older Lamiglas which is pretty similar in action and ratings. This is too long to ship. I can meet in southern RI or perhaps further depending on location and arrangements made. Contact me ... morebefore bidding with any questions about the rod, condition and pick-up.
