Vintage 1800's Large Bait Box or Metal Fishing Creel or Tackle Box for Lures
Vintage. Very unique, rustic metal bait box or creel. I have been told this is probably from the late 1800's and is possibly English. There is no name or manufacturers mark that I have been able to find. I do know this a very well made, old metal box probably used for live bait or it could have been used as a trout creel or could have carried fishing lures. The hinged lid on the top works very well as does the large comfortable handle. There are no holes in the unit, but it does have some marks and a few dents in the metal. Approx size is 16" long x 8" wide x 13" to the top of the handle(the box itself is about 8" tall) Weight of the box is approx 4.7 Lbs. Very unique and I have never seen another like this.

This is a really awesome Vintage piece! Not sure when dated? A Stool. Tackle Box and Creel/Ice Chest all in one! Believed to be from the Netherlands? The only additional markings are as follows: Leuven-Wilsele-Putkapel It appears to have a vinyl seat which shows its age. Below that is a 4 wooden tray tackle box and below that is the aluminum creel and/or ice chest. It appears to be in good shape, all the front and rear hardware are in tact and are functional, seems to be missing a strap and the chain on the side is broken also appears to have a drain plug missing. Handmade Oak Tackle Box-Three Trays-Brass Accents-Leather Handle-Lockable
I made this Red Oak Tackle Box in 1993. Did it on a whim to see what I ended up with. Found it in storage recently so here it is. Brass fittings as shown. Lockable latches. Rubber feet on the bottom. Top tray is one piece(dividers are not removeable) Two bottom trays have removeable dividers. Great high quality leather handle. Figural Rainbow Trout on the top(see photo#7) Decorative piece inside lid is painted on a piece of celluloid. Artist was J. Lockhart. Burgandy felt on the bottom of the trays. The trays are lined with acid free mat board. The brass on the latches is a little discolored.I'd rather call it patina! There is a closure device. As shown in photo#5 that holds the lid upright. Measures 18.375" across. It is 9.375" tall and 9.375" from front to back. All measurements are exterior. Wood is 1/4. Hand rubbed ... moretung oil finish. Shipping may seem high. But this is a heavy box. If we can safely ship for less we will refund the difference via PayPal immediately. If shipping is more, we will cover the difference.
