I am selling a Thomas& Thomas"Vagabond" rod that I really like. But rarely have had an opportunity to fish. When I bought it, I had great ambitions for fishing in far-away exotic places, but it looks like those dreams are not going to come to pass. I have fished this rod, however, and I can say that despite the number of ferrules, the rod flexes deep and has what I would call a moderate action. I guess this is what I should have expected from Thomas& Thomas, but it is still a source of some amazement to me. Thomas& Thomas no longer offers this rod. But when it did it said this about it in the marketing literature: A rod you can take anywhere, the Vagabond is designed in multiple 15" sections that slip easily into a standard briefcase or overnight bag. Yet, they handle with the ease and smoothness of a 2-piece rod. ... moreFeatures include an uplocking reel seat with hardwood insert and Western grip. I would also note that it has alignment marks, which I think are useful for a rod with this many sections. It is made from a black polished blank with black wraps, and is beautifully finished. The rod retailed for $785.00 in the late'90's when I bought it. It comes with the original rod bag and cordura case. The rod is in excellent shape. I would characterize it as"like new" but for a noticeable scratch on the second section. I have included a close-up of the scratch. It does not affect the performance of the rod. This Beuchat dive bag has been around awhile but is still in pretty good shape. It's very clean and all the zippers work freely. The zippers are all 2 way zippers. It has a large zippered central compartment as well as 2 zippered side compartments and a full length side compartment. It has a carry handle and a shoulder strap. It appears in places that the outer nylon shell has bubbled away from the inner rubber liner. Possibly from sun exposure. It doesn't in any way seem to affect the strength or integrity of the bag. The bottom has 3 drain holes.

This auction is for a 9 foot fly rod and aluminum travel case. The rod was my father's and as far as I can remenber it was seldom used. The rod is approximately 65 years old and it appears to be in very good condition however the butt end does show some wear. Also one eyelet in the middle section needs to have the thread rewound. The rod is hexagnoal in shape and there are 3- 3 foot sections with an extra tip section. I have had the rod since my father died in 1961 but never used it as I wasn't interested in fly fishing. I have decided to sell it to someone who may be able to put this rod to good use. The travel case measures 39" in length and will be used th ship the rod. Here is the story: I lent this guitar to a neighbour and it came back to me with no sound. I consulted the company in the USA and they suggested it may be a broken pickup or a faulty IC board inside. I took out the pickup and opted to get a stunning new Seymour Duncan Jazz Model(SH-2b) bridge Humbucker pickup and put it in. No go. Faulty IC board it must be. The company said for a mere $59.95 plus postage to Australia. I could have a new IC board. I decided no and then chose to just wire the new Seymour Duncan straight to the output jack. I used this as a practice guitar ever since even though I think there is a grounding issue as there is a slight buzz/hum underneath the guitar ... moretone. I am done with electric now and want to just spend my time with acoustic. I thought this baby would be un-sellable due to its condition. But folks have suggested to me that for a good price there are some real tech savvy guitarists out there who could fix this in a breeze. So. I will put this up for auction just to see if someone wants to give it a go. Make no mistake please: this guitar needs a guitar techie to work on it to get it right. Whether you want to get a new IC board from Escape and put it in or just do your own home-made wiring is up to you. I have priced this guitar low for this. Bear in mind a new working EG-1 would cost you at least $500(to get it to Australia as well) This price is acknowledging you need to do some fixing but please bear in mind that the price includes an almost brand new Seymour Duncan Jazz SH-2b Jazz Humbucker bridge pickup(itself a $99 dollar value!
