Here we have a small Antique/ Vintage- English- WHEATLEY' Alloy Fly Box with 6 compartments with hinged windows. It also comes with 8 flies. The box is clearly marked with the maker's name; Wheatley- Silmalloy Metal' Wheatley was one of the quality English tackle manufactures of their day. The box has no dents but has some light scuffing. The boxes hinges and closing catch. Work perfectly. Each compartment has its own'snap up window' All work perfectly. The inside of the lid has'washable slate' to record the type of flies in each compartment. I would estimate it's age at around the early 1900's. The box measures 6cm wide and 9cm long. Vintage Alpha reel from Australia. This bakelite Alpha Model dates back to the 1940s. It measures 3 inches in diameter and is in very good working order I had originally listed this reel as an ALVEY however I have been corrected by a more knowledgable source that this was actually manufactured by M B WRAGG CO of Gardenvale Vic(thanks for the info SEAJAMES) It is marked on one side in raised script: Alpha. 1947 Mepps"CHUT CHUT" Fly reel Up for auction. Is a RARE"CHUT CHUT" Fly reel. This reel is in wonderful shape, specially for 66 years old. I bought this quite a long time back, when I was determined to be the BIG TIME Mepps collector of the west coast. Well, my interests spread, and now I have too many, of too many reels. I always felt, if you are a collector of a manufacturer, you collected everything they made. But you could die wanting, if you included lures with Mepps! But I did get as many reels as I could, loving the spinning reels first! This fly reel was a rare find from a collector in Sweden, mainly because I didn't even know Mepps made anything but the spinning reels. It has been a topic in my group, and a clean and interesting piece in my collection. As you might imagine, this reel is built like all of the ... moreearly Mepps reels, you could use it, on a hill, if your parking brake on your car was broken, and still fish with it when you got home! Gently Pre-Owned. This Rod and Reel Combo was given to my fiance by a local"old timer" while he was working on a job at this guys house. They are both vintage. The bamboo rod is marked"T.K.W. and although I did research this, I didn't find anything about it. I would think given that, it would make this a rather rare and unique rod. The reel however, is a Heddon 320. It is a Daisy Model with the parts having been made in JAPAN and assembled in the USA, and does come with line on it, and it is in working condition. This rod/reel combo comes as shown, there is no carrying case/bag for it. There are, however, what I would suppose are extra rod(top) pieces, as there are 5 pieces to this all together. It's really a beautiful rod, and is in overall very good vintage/antique condition, the only real noticeable is shown in the ... morephotos. 1930s Vintage J. C. Higgins Sears Auto Fly Fishing Reel made by Martin in box
For sale at a fixed price is this neat vintage Auto Fly Fishing Reel. It is a dark green(you can see the true color in the third photo) 1930s vintage J.C. Higgins sold through Sears Roebuck. If you look at the reel you will see that it is one of the early Martin reels made in Mohawk New York for Sears under license. You do see these occasionally.we have sold a couple in the last 6 or 7 years.but not like this one. This one has been used but not significantly. It is like new in the original box with the original instructions and loaded with vintage line. I first thought the line was enameled silk line. Likely from Cortland. However, after quite a bit of studying it I think it is more likely that it is one of the early Cortland synthetic lines like a Cortland 333. It is tapered but I am unsure of the line weight. At a guess I would say a 6 ... moreor 7 weight in todays system. As I said. The reel is in as mint condition as a used reel can be. There are no scratches, no rub marks, no wear. It loads and rewinds perfectly. The line is also in terrific condition and immediately usable. The instruction leaflet is undamaged. The box is good but does have an inventory number and price on it in what looks to be grease pencil. I would guess theres not much chance that you will find another one of these in this condition. It is in good working condition. The handle is missing it's knob. Probably a wood knob. The base consist of a brass clamp with thumb screw to attach to pole. There are no screws on this reel other than one holding the handle in place, it is all riveted or peened tab construction. It measures 1-5/16" diameter. 2-1/16" deep including the handle, and has a clamp measuring 1-3/16" diameter by 9/16" wide. It weighs 2.3 ounces, with packaging it will ship at 7 ounces. Antique Shakespeare Automatic Fly Reel. Pre-1929- Good, Working Condition A TRUE ANTIQUE. This reel was made between 1911 and 1929. It has been fished a lot. But is in good condition and is still fully functional. Shakespeare’s earliest patent on an automatic fly reel was No. 982.305 dated January 24, 1911. From about 1929 through 1977, Shakespeare fishing reels carried a two-letter dating code. The purpose of these letter codes was to identify the exact year that a particular reel model was first manufactured or when changes were made to it. This reel predates the two-letter dating codes. It also predates the original Shakespeare model numbers. Which I believe indicates that it was most likely made prior to 1920. The writing on the back of the reel just states, PATENTED” and it carries the Shakespeare logo which reads, honor built, honor ... moresold” and“MADE IN KALAMAZOO, U.S.A. Condition: Good. The reel is in working condition and does not appear to have any mechanical problems. It has some cosmetic wear from use(small-size scratches and scuffs. Vintage Horrocks Ibbotson Vernley Trout Fly Fishing Reel Utica NY
I am Paypal Verified. This reel was made by Horrocks Ibbotson Company of Utica NY. It is made of made of bakelite. This reel was on the 1930's Horrocks Ibboton Split bamboo fly fishing rod-model"Beaver" which I have listed. It has line on it. It is marked Vernley Trout Reel. It seems to be functional and in good shape. Weighs just over 5 ounce. Reel is 3" diameter. 3/4" wide spool, reel foot is 2 1/2" long. The reel clicks in the on position the spool spins nicely in the off position. No cracks, but does have one small chip on the front-see picture utica Ny chip is where NY would be. Vintage Pflueger Progress No 1774 brass fly reel wood handle nice clean
For auction is a very nice mid 1900's Pflueger Progress No. 1774 solid brass frame with aluminum spool fly reel. This model has the slide option between click and free spin and functions properly. This reel is very clean and an absolute joy to use. The brass is very shiny. It is difficult to capture in photographs, and the aluminum is in nice shape with a shine. The sound of the clicking while fighting a trout is a special sound. While these pair perfectly with bamboo rods, I have enjoyed using it with 4/5 weight modern rods, It may be appropriate for up to 6 weight. This reel has a total weight of 136 grams or 4.75 oz.
