Here is a fabulous find that I came across recently. It is a vintage Tube Rose Sweet Scotch Snuff glass jar with a tin lid. The jar was made for the Brown and Williamson Tobbaco Company. You can see the reverse writing on the bottom of the jar. It is written within an image of a tobacco leaf. Very cool. The lid is made of tin. It is rusty. But it has not worn through. The jar is sealed tightly. There are parts of the label that are missing, but you can still read the name of the product. It is a very cool old piece. The jar does not have any chips or cracks in it. The jar measures 4 inches tall and is 2 3/4 inches in diameter at the top. I do not know how much tobacco it originally held. I have the checked the label. 1965 Winston 449 Japanese Vintage Guitar (Teisco, Kawai) Hound Dog Pickups!!
The video up there is of this very guitar for sale. Total mid 60s Kawai. And the last guitar to feature these pickups that were also found in the popular Kawai S180 and the Kawai SD4W. Both of those guitars were made famous because Hound Dog Taylor loved the sound, but those guitars have been way high in value for many years now. So the 449s are the next best thing if you want that grindy Hound Dog tone. These 449s are also cool because they were one of the only guitars where Kawai used a rotary switch rather than the rocker switches or the mini switches. Those darn finicky switches really keep players away from these guitars, so using the 3-way rotary switch may be just the thing for you! Condition on this one is truly beautiful and really clean! I won't say mint. But this is pretty darn clean. Be sure to study the pics. Everything is ... morepresent and accounted for on this guitar, sans the Winston logo. Electronics are original and clean, and this one has been set up for immediate play. Frets are vintage small, but show little wear. We put several hours of work into this one, to get it playable and enjoyable!
