This rod has been what I call preserved, with the nice aged look of the original silks under the original varnish. All varnish was carefully scraped off the bamboo, however, retained over all the original silks to give the look of an original aged rod, while getting 2 fresh dips in varnish to ensure it is water tight. One snake guide at the bottom of the mid was replaced and rewrapped with new silk, however, tastefully matched against the original silk look. There is one scratch on the reel seat and one tip is down 2.5 inches(pictured) Includes original cloth sack in perfect condition, and the original aluminum tube in very very good condition, with a decent label, you don't see many tubes in this good of shape. The rod casts a 6 weight DT modern fly line beautifully. All sections are equal length(except the one tip) straight as an arrow, reel seat functions well, ferrules are great and pop with no clicking during casting. If you want a Granger to fish this is it. All the wraps look great and are an original aged wrap. The cork looks good, though suffers from some soiling and use over time, it could be cleaned if that is the look you want, varnish looks great. Completely restored and preserved. This is one heck of a great looking rod and it is ready to fish as is. This rod. For those that don't know is positioned as an upper mid-grade rod and used bamboo that was not quite good enough for the Registered and Deluxe but better than the Special, and way better than the Victory or Champion. The 9" length in my opinion is great for the fisherman out there, rather than the collectors. Let the collectors keep paying way to much for the shorter rods that don't have the length to high stick or mend the way a fisherman needs to catch fish. The shorter rods, may cast a little better, but I would be willing to bet these longer rods catch more fish, since

VTG WRIGHT & McGILL GRANGER 8642 Bamboo Fly Rod 8 1/2' STREAM & LAKE
The Granger 8642's have got to be the most iconic western taper bamboo fly rod in history. I like them because they are very versatile and can cast in all situations including when the winds pick up and will fish a 5 or a 6. My story this past summer included my first outing with an 8642 Special and was 3 days on the B_r River in Montana. We fished the upper head waters for up to 16" Cutts and the Special was a ball. Then we fished lower. Larger waters for nice sized, hard fightin' bows. I could not believe that I was making 60' casts with a hopper in the wind. Later in the day I switched over to a nymph rig and was amazed at how well it could mend the line. I even fished streamers with the fear of nicking the rod but it performed flawlessly. Now I don't know about you, but that is the type of waters that I normally fish, ... moremuch more than the dainty little creeks. I am having a hard time fishing with graphite again! This rod is very nice. But has a couple of minor issues. One guide on the mid has been re-wrapped with the correct scarlet red. It was done nicely and other than it looking slightly newer than the rest of the wraps, you can hardly tell. One tip had a splinter on the top 6" and has been wrapped in clear. It is even hard to tell in the pics and should fish like the other tip, which is excellent. The finish on the rod is near flawless and shines like new. The pics show the condition of the grip and seat. Ferrules have a nice fit. Sock is original but the tube is a few inches longer than the rod. Classic 7' Bamboo Fly Rod by Charles Grove, Maker 2/2 With Bag And Aluminum Tube
I have not been able to find out anything about Charles Grove. The maker. This 7 foot, 2 piece, 2 tip rod is beautifully designed and executed. The cork cigar grip tapers to a cork reel seat with two sliding rings. The cork has no chips or gouges. Both tip sections are 3/4" longer than the butt section, looks like the rod may have been built that way. All sections are essentially straight. The ferrules are"popping" tight. The female ferrule on the butt has a soldered ring welt. The stripper guide has an artificial agate liner. The snake guides are pristine, with transparent wraps. The rod is designed to cast a 4 weight line. I have not put a line on it but in flexing it feels like a good dry fly rod. This rod is in excellent condition. It comes with a cloth bag in a good quality aluminum tube.

Exact item shown. This is a bamboo fly rod that assembles in 3 pieces. I weighed the three pieces on my postal scale. It weighs 5.4 ounces. Each piece is 35 inches long. Near the handle there is a decal with H-I and a fish, and another decal that says"Spinner" The cardboard tube is black. Steel ends, good condition. The rod is in a greenish fabric bag with separate compartments for each rod component. I don't know anything about fly fishing. I have tried to describe the rod carefully, I see no damage, no wear, no stains, etc. There is some darkening of the cork handle from holding it, and a little wear on one edge of the decal, othewise to me it looks absolutely like new. This is a very sought after fly rod because of the 7 foot size and high quality make. I found in a garage sale and never fished with it. Has 2 tips. Sock and aluminum case with cap. On Dec-06-12 at 16:01:21 PST. Seller added the following information: Additional information about condiction: The varnish is perfectly smooth with no blemishes or checks. The wraps. Guides and ferrules are all solid and tight. I can see no noticeable sets. The rod sock shows no signs of use either. It is clean with no water spots, mildew or dirt stains. I believe this rod was used very little throughout its life. I purchased the rod at a garage sale from a man that found it in the back of a cabin closet 20 years earlier during some ... moreconstruction. OVER 100 YEARS OLD ABBEY & IMBRIE SPLIT BAMBOO BAIT-FLY ROD W/ORIGINAL COVER
This is an Abbey& Imbrie"Many Use" Split Bamboo Bait-Fly rod combination. The information on the original cloth carrying case has that information plus it says"Butt- 3" Joints( Extra tip, No. 3CC, Cork grip, 4-6 1/2, 9 ft( The cloth case has a couple of rips in it and some water marks. The pole fits neatly into a grooved core for safe keeping. I believe that A&I label was used from 1906-23. The rod is combination rod made by Montague in the early 1907-teens because of the reel seat and end plug, a variation of a 1907 patent. It is well over 100 years old and only had one owner. H L Leonard Bamboo Fly Rod Model 36
Up for sale is a H L Leonard Model 36 7 1/2' 3/2. All the sections are full length. Straight and the furrels are tight. Rod comes with bag and original tube as seen in pictures. The rod has been refinished and is smooth with no cracks on the guide wraps. The rod is honey colored with red wraps and a honey wood colored reel seat. I fished both tips a handful of times lightly casting dries on Silver Creek in Idaho and surrounding waters, it fished great as a 3 weight for me. The reason I'm selling is just that, I don't use this enough and would prefer to invest in some photography gear. The one flaw is the rod has a 1/2' clear wrap on one of the two tips. I bought the rod this way and have fished it with no noticeable affects. This flaw can be seen in the photos located by the piece of black paper seen in the photos. EXCELLENT LEATHERED SPLIT BAMBOO BASKET POCKETED CREEL
Here's an excellent condition clean leathered split Bamboo basket creel with front pocket. The basket is in great shape with no breakage. This is a very unusual basket- it's extremely strong and according to a catalog listing I found is made of split Bamboo. It's much heavier duty than the normal split willow creel and I'm sure it's nearly indestructable. I've seen maybe 6 of these over the years and have never seen one with any basket breakage. The leather is very thick cow hide and is all in nice shape as well with no cracking or chipping. The basket is what we would normally describe as a low boy style. These were made in the mid to late 40's and I'm including a scan of the 1948 catalog page I found them in. It includes a nice tooled cow hide shoulder strap. It's about 16 1/2 inches wide and has a curved ... moreback to fit the hip. Would make a fine display piece or a fine creel to use. Rare creel for the collector. I've been collecting creels for years and just recently realized I'm totally out of space to display them. I counted them a couple of weeks ago and find that I have over 400 of them. I guess I've got to move a few of them on down the road so my wife and I will have enough space to move around in the house a little. Of course I'm exagerating a bit but you can imagine how much space that many creels takes up. I'll list a few creels today and more periodically as my schedule permits. Vintage 57" Bamboo Ski Poles Made In Finland
The skis have partial labels on them which say. Made in Finland 162 Maailman and a partial label that has the Olympic circles. They are vintage, thus not in pristine condition. They are sturdy with no cracks or repairs on them. The stabilizers on the bottom are plastic, I think. They are also marked. Vintage bamboo fly rod E.F. Payne 3/2 salmon/steelhead with fighting butt
Here is a beautiful fly rod by one of the great masters. E.F. Payne. This rod is in wonderful condition. Cane is excellent with no cracks, splits or delamination.The cork on this rod is beautiful. All wraps are intact and in great condition. Ferrules are in great condition, fit well and pop when pulled apart. The reel seat, fighting butt and cover are in great condition. The sock, tip tube and tip tube sock are in great shape. The rod sock even has the E.F. Payne tag on it. The long and short tip sections also have Agate tip tops on them. This rod is an unknown model.possibly a 221 from 1951. 1890s' Thomas Chubb Bamboo flyrod with cord wrapped handle
This is a Thomas Chubb 9' 3/2 bamboo flyrod from the 1890s' The handle is cord wrapped. It is made from Hinduvine or bamboo from India. The wraps are every 1 1/2 inches. One of the two tips is 1 inch short and has a set in the last 4 inches. The other tip is full length and straight. This is a collectors rod. They use to call them"Noodle Rods" because the Hinduvine is a more flexible cane. Comes in a cloth covered wooden carrier from the period. If not as described. Feel free to ship it back.

SERIAL NUMBER 9309, OVERALL MEASUREMENT OF 79 3/4 INCHES. IMPREGNATED TONKIN CANE THAT IS EXCELLENT TO NEAR MINT CONDITION. BUTT SECTION HAS A FEW SCRATCHES. THIS ROD WAS REFINISHED BY ORVIS IN 1980. THE BUTT SECTION IS 36 1/2 INCHES LONG AND THE MID SECTION MEASURES 36 1/2 INCHES AND THE TIP MEASURES 31 7/8 INCHES LONG. BUTT SECTION CANE. REEL SEAT, CORK, WINDING CHECK, AND FERRULE ARE ALL SOLID WITH NO MOVEMENT. MID SECTION THE CANE. AND FERRULES ARE SOLID WITH NO MOVEMENT AND 1 SNAKE EYE IS MISSING AT MALE FERRULE. THE TIP SECTION THE CANE AND FERRULE ARE SOLID AND SECURE BUT THE TIP IS SHORT AS STATED. THE TIP TOP IS THE CORRECT TIP FOR THE ROD BUT SHORT. THE ROD NEEDS A RESTORATION AND IS BEING SOLD AS IS. 1906 Kingfisher Bamboo Flyrod w/ Bamboo Tip Case Mint Condtion
Now here is a flyrod with a real story. A fellow State Trooper told me his Grandfather had passed down a flyrod that he never fished with. Seems that the grandfather recieved the flyrod as a gift. He thought that they gave him a butt. Mid section and a wading stick. He didn't realize that the wading stick was really a tip case housing the tips. So he put it in his closet and never fished with it. It was passed along in the family to the Trooper. In fact, until I showed my fellow Trooper how to unscrew the tip case, no one had ever opened it. He sold me the rod. I have had it 20 years and never fished with it either. So here is a 1906 Kingfisher Flyrod in mint unfished condition. The cork handle is as new and unstained as the day it was sold. I believe this is the older type of bamboo. The tip case is absolutely drop dead gorgeous. It ... moreis 9' 3/2 and all pieces are as new full length. I doubt their are many around in this condition. It will be packed well.
