40 year accumulation of fly tying equipment and materials. At my age. I have given up on ever being a great fly tyer, and since my kids are not interested, I have decided to sell my stuff. Include is a lot of equipment, including 2 vices, tweezers, 2 whip finishers, scissors, thread holders. The materials include boxes of threads and body wire(never used) plus various spools of thread, cards of body materials, hooks of various sizes. Also included are patches of deer hair of various colors, a box of feathers of various types and colors, and various hackle materials. Time to clean out the fly tying cabinet so my kids won't have to do it for me. I'll describe the tools and materials photograph by photograph. Photograph 1: tools. The vise on the left is a an old Herter's I bought from them over a half-century ago; I've had a number of vises since then. But always was fond of this one. Probably as much of a collector's item now as a working vise. The vise on the left also is a old Herter's(if I remember correctly) The two leftmost rows also have 8 bobbins of various size, a couple of pair of hackle pliers, and a lacquer jar with bodkin. CUSTOM MADE FLY TYING MATERIALS BOX WITH CEDAR DRAWERS
Due to some eyesight issues I am having to give up one of my beloved hobbies. Fly fishing and fly tying. Years ago I had a fly fishing& tying friend who was also a retired master custom cabinet maker. He had made this box just for himself and had one more thing to make for it before he called it finished. He then suddenly fell ill and shortly afterwards he passed away. It was a few months later I acquired this from his widow and I know this box is the only one of it's kind. If you take a close look at the pictures you will see that the drawers on the left hand side are recessed. Neil planned on making a tying pedestal out of wood that would stand on end and fit within the confines of the box so the whole works was easily made as one to just up and carry any time he wanted. If you are good at woodworking yourself you can make and finish ... moreyour own to fit. eBay allows me up to 12 pictures and I'm taking every one of them to try and show you his fine craftsmanship. The way he made his joints and neatly rounded out the corners of every drawer. As you can see from the pic's. All of the drawers on 3 sides are made out of cedar. This makes for a nice natural protection for the expensive necks, capes& furs we use in tying flies. I'm sure keeping materials in a Tupperware will protect just as good but having a fine box like this is so much nicer. It's on par of having a fine bamboo rod, There is nothing else like it. Even though this box is slightly used, it will still make for a nice gift for the fly fisherman in your family who appreciates fine things. This box has seen good use over the years and does have the usual small nic's n' scratches on the outside. I'd also like to point out picture# 7 which was my"tool" drawer. I believe this to be the only real flaw. An unknown& accidental spillage of some head cement immortalized those tools into the drawer. As far as shipment of this box is concerned. First Edition Hardback. The cover is dinged up. Front and back, hence acceptable. The book itself is in very good shape. The first, and still very valid, book on materials and their use. Please be aware that this book has been owned by an avid fly tyer and cigar smoker. And the books are stored where the cigars are smoked. So keep that in mind as you bid. My friends who borrow books say that the smell wears off in about a week. And you can read them in comfort at that time. They usually read them in dis-comfort before then. The grading is severe, I would rather you be surprised that the book is higher quality than you expected, than reverse. All are used books- I bought them to use. Not abuse, but to use.

Up for your bids is this fly-tying. Fly fishing estate lot. View the 1st three photos to show the complete lot. There are numerous and sundry feathers, fur etc. materials, a thompson fly-tying vise, a smaller no name vise, some tools, a spool of ORVIS Dacron fly line backing that is 20 LB test. The spool looks full, but I can't prove it(see photos) and the flip side of the Orvis spool has a light blue colored Orvis line, as well.
