Vintage Hardy Bros. fly reel "Perfect" model
Vintage used Hardy Bros. Ltd fly reel. This reel was made in Alnwick England and is Hardy Bros. Ltd 3 1/8" The'Perfect' flyreel. Patent numbers stamped on the side read: 24245&9261. It also has stamped Duplicated Mark II. The zippered padded case it comes with was made by H J Collins Mfg. Co. As near as we can tell this reel is right hand retrieve. Research found extra reels available. This reel comes apart by holding the inner reel while turning the handle counter clock wise. Once you take the reel apart you can see the small ball bearings in the center that give this such a smooth reeling motion. We also ran a small test on the crossbars to make sure they weren't nicked or worn and would cut away at your line. By running yarn across both sides of each crossbar we were able to determine there appear to be no burs on ... morewhich to cut your fly line. While the reel appears to be functional and ready to use with the addition of backing and fly line. We are offering this fly reel as is. No international sales. All of the mechanical and functional aspects are in very good condition and the reel feels and sounds very smooth. There are no bent or warped parts. There are some abrasions and scratches on this item(as shown in pictures) Someone has scratched their initials(NFM" NFFM" and what looks like"VIFF" into 3 interior sections on the reel(not visible when reel is operationally assembled) and 2 exterior areas(where it is mostly visible under the right light) Please refer ... moreto the pictures(I have documented these 5 areas) The black paint on the interior of the spool is worn and there are several scratches including one of the initialed areas(refer to photo) The top of the drag adjustment knob has 2 small nicks. The other 2 interior areas where the initials occur are approximately 1 inch from the exposed bearings on both sides of the body of the reel. The interior spool side is where it appears to have the"VIFF" There is also the outline of what appears to be some sticker that has fallen off(located next to the exposed bearings in photo) The final areas are on the exterior front and back face of the reel and I did not notice them until I had the reel under the perfect light(I owned this reel for years without seeing this) Also. There is an abrasion on the frame at the bottom of the reel(next to the bottom post) If you are considering buying this reel then you are most likely a serious angler and or collector so please study ALL pictures very closely with the zoom function. Up for action is an Ultra Rare Hardy All Brass Perfect measuring 2 5/8" in diameter. This size is actually referred to as the"Houghton" Dry Fly reel made for the elite Houghton Fishing Club who's members included Royals and Aristocrats sporting trout on the famed Thames River. England during the early 1890's. The reel is in near excellent but uncleaned condition as pictured, with no cracks anywhere. The reel's action is silky smooth with a strong click and adjustable drag with a creamy butter handle. Please take note that the center screw has broken off(as pictured) but can be easily repaired. I'm parting with my L.W. Holmes fly reel. A Hardy Perfect clone made in America in the late 1940s/early 1950s. It's a blue collar classic with polished rims, matte gray spool, brass accents, and a translucent plastic amber handle. There are few minor dings, but otherwise it's in very good cosmetic shape. Mechanically it works well, with some light spool play/wobble, which is typical of this model. Strong, distinctive click. The reel is 3" in diameter and made of aluminum. here is a fantastic bfp in what i can only say is in the best working order i have ever seen one of these reels. the spindle and cog i think may have been refitted by hardy at some point but this benefits the reel as its like new to use the. check works great. it has its original alloy foot that has the smallest of filling to one end. Ribbed brass foot, nice strong check no play or wobble on spindle, no line burns, as good as the day it was made mechanically ready for the new season. as you can see from the pics the reel is in great condition with only a tiny bit of pitting to one part of the frame this in no way makes a difference to the reels workings or looks. it has great patina and is a well sort after salmon reel Check out my!

The auction this week is for this 16mm b/w sd short subject from the HAL ROACH STUDIOS. Titled PERFECT DAY, 1929 featuring STAN LAUREL and OLIVER HARDY. EDGAR KENNEDY, KAY DESIVS, ISABELLE KEITH, HARRY BERNARD, LYLE TAYO, CHARLEY ROGERS and BALDWIN COOKE. The film stock is marked Eastman Safety. The film is from Blackhawk Films and is on an 800ft. reel running abt. 20+ min. it will be shipped in a film can media rate mail within one day. With the exception of weekends and holidays, after payment is received. This print has an extra long head leader. A Blackhawk Co. replaced title and cast credit followed with a fade to the first scene. The ending is complete with the original The End card and an extra long tail leader. There are no internal edits or vinegar smell. Some single frame splices are in the early part of the reel but do not cause ... moreserious interruption. There is some sprocket burring in the head leader that can easily be replaced with new leader. But it does run smoothly through the gate. The tire changing sequence has one short jump cut where Kenndy has left the car and now shows the flat tire on his bandaged foot. STORYLINE: Plans for a nice Sunday picnic in the country seem doomed even before Stanley and Oliver an d their wives and Uncle Edgar get into the car. First. The boys get into a fight and destroy a tray of sandwiches. Then the car keeps acting up and ends up with a flat tire. Getting in and out of the car to fix the annoyances becomes a nusince. Especially for gout-ridden Uncle Edgar, whose ailing foot gets its share of pounding. A brick-throwing glass breaking tiff with a neighbor threatens to escalate into general mayhem, until the local parson strolls by. The trip is finally on its way when Oliver steers toward an innocent-looking mud puddle in the street. Hardy eureka 3 ½" fishing reel not hardy perfect - lovely condition!
Here we have for auction a Hardy Eureka 3 ½" contracted drum fishing reel in the sought after size and in a lovely condition still retaining its leaded finish. The reel is complete with petite horn handles that turn freely and can be removed. A Silex check side lever, vented spool which connects with a two screw nickel telephone latch and a un filed brass ribbed foot. The spool turns silky smooth and sounds a delightfull click on the turn with the check engaged, there is also no wobble or line grooves! The petite cage is in an excellant condition and poker straight, however one pillar does appear to have a hairline fracture. Stamped to the face plate MADE BY HARDY BROS LTD, ALNWICK ENGLAND, THE EUREKA REEL SIZE 3 ½" and stamped to the side of the foot the patent number 272409. 3 5/8" Leaded Hardy Perfect with Agate & Silk Line
I am offering a beautiful 3 5/8” RW leaded Hard Perfect with an Agate and a Silk line for sale. The reel has a beautiful nearly even patina which makes it a great display or fishing reel. No ugly scratches or inscribed names on the perforated spool or winding plate. I am not a Hardy expert and don’t know the vintage of the reel. I assume it is a pre-war reel due to the leaded finish and round Hardy Perfect inscription. The agate has no chips. But you will find two hairline cracks on opposite sides when you hold the agate up against the light. They are hard to see. The agate feels solid and I believe that you don’t won’t have issues for decades to go. The reel has a very slight wobble which doesn’t affect its fishability.This is not uncommon with a ~80+ year old reel. The inside of the reel is nice a clean. The sound of the reel is great. ... moreThe springs are good. As a major bonus. The reel comes with an old silk line(at least I believe that is what it is) The line is in good shape. Antique HARDY Reel Key Tool Spanner for Turk's Head Tension Nut Perfect Reel
MORE PHOTOS BELOW I recently obtained a some nice quality antique fishing tackle from the estate of Brigadier George Mark Oswald Davy who had a long and distinguished military career which included command of the 7th Armoured Brigade in the Western Desert in WWII. Brigadier Davy spent his later years in Alyth. Perthshire and was also a respected portrait and landsacpe painter. I will be listing more of this collection over the next few days. Offered here is a very rare original Hardy reel key/ tool/ spanner as supplied with reels such as the early salmon perfects and which allowed adjustment of the'Turk's head' nut above the strapped tension wheel. Hardy Perfect 3 1/8" 1920s with Agate line guard
This auction is for a 3 1/8" Hardy Perfect built in the 1920s with an early Dupl. MkII check. It is right hand wind and has the correct smooth brass foot. The foot is full original length. Not shortened, filed or otherwise altered. Correct nickel silver tension adjuster with it´s sweet diagonal knurling. The original leading/bronzing on the reel has partly worn off to show what is commonly referred to as"patina" Unfortunately the agate on this otherwise superb example of a classic Hardy Perfect shows a hairline crack on the 3 o´clock position(when looking down on the reel mounted to a rod) The defect can be seen in the third image. Apart from this internal crack the agate is all solid and the stone won´t move or get any worse if you not drop the reel on a rock. Which. Of course, would ruin any 100% intact agate ... moreanyway. The hairline will not harm your valuable lines at all. As you can see in the images. I have been using a silk line on it. A vintage line, restored by myself with around 50 hours of labour in the restoration(sorry, but the line is NOT part of this auction. I would certainly not have fished this line on a reel with any potential to harm it. Technically the reel is 100% with no wobble. Play or any other imperfection. Runs as smooth and tight as it did on the day it left the Alnwick factory some 90( years ago. I have had this reel in my personal collection for a long time and thoroughly enjoyed to fish with it. Good"fish karma" guaranteed! These reels are getting pretty scarce in today´s tight vintage market. Only reason for selling is my need to re-finance some new aquisitions for my collection. To the best of my knowledge everything on this reel is all original. Please note that the silk line shown on the reel is NOT part of this auction and will be taken off prior to shipping! Hardy Perfect 3 3/8 inch fly reel 60s/70s.
A really nice Hardy Perfect 3 3/8 narrow drum trout reel. It has enamel finish and is in quite nice order. I have owned it since the 1980s but think it must be of 1960's or possibly 70's date of manufacture. It has a smooth ali foot and agate line guide. Line is an 80's floating weight forward so not of any great value. The leather case is not period and is a near new modern leather sheep skin lined one. All in all a very nice reel to keep or to use. Vintage Hardy Duplicated Mark II "Perfect" Fly Reel, handle needs work
Up for your consideration is a vintage Hardy Duplicated Mark II Fly Reel as shown. The plastic handle on this is old and significantly worn as shown in photo 5. The reel makes a nice clicking noise when its turned but the handle seems to tighten up and lock up when you turn it. If you reverse direction. The handle feels like its loosening up. This reel would need some touch-up work to be useable, but seems quite restorable. I've included 12 photos for your inspection. Thanks.

This is an original made in England 3-3/8" Hardy Perfect Fly Reel. It was purchased new in the 1970-1980's and was used for a short time. It was then carefully stored in it's orginal padded Hardy case. And the extra spool stored in a protective bag. The reel appears in almost new condition, except for light rub marks visible next to the winding handle, and small scratches on the top surface of the polished aluminum reel foot, where it was attached to the fly rod's reel seat- please see photographs. The overall finish of the reel is in excellent conditon. The Agate Line Guard enclosed in the silver ring is smooth and polished with no defects. Chips or scratches. Mechanically the reel is in perfect operational condition. With no noticeable wear to any moving parts. There is no play or wobble in the spindle or spool. The Extra ... moreSpool is in almost perfect condition. The original padded zippered Hardy case is also in excellent condition with no damage. The Hardy Perfect Fly Reel remains one of the few fly reels to utilize ball bearings for spool rotation. Which accounts for its ultra smooth and steady winding action. The traditonal click pawls give this classic quality English reel it's unmistakable Hardy sound when a fish runs. The drag is fully adjustable by way of the knurled brass knob. The reel measures exactly 3 1/2 inches on the spool side and 1 1/4 width, the reel has a few problems but its rarity out ways them. problems are one agate cracked chipped other one perfect, the head of the brass drag tensioner is broken off but the screw left inside is free and moves up and down, there is a crack in the rim of the reel and i think at some stage the foot has been professionally refitted not sure if its original but its firm and been done well if it has been refitted. all these things i have mentioned can be seen in the pics, if any more pics needed please just ask. there is no play on the spindle and the drag does work well nice and tight as i have moved it up and down, the reel is still usable and runs smooth but i would imagine it will go on show as its that rare, i have ... morenever seen one of these twin agate perfects this old and cant find any info on it. there is m12 and i stamped on the winding plate 12 and i on the spool and 12 stamped on the cage. also on winding plate is hardy alnwick patent with arrows right and left indicating left or right, you may have more chance of finding hens teeth for sale! i have been as honest as i can about this reel, thanks for looking and good luck with bidding, Check out my!
