From reading the ... morehistory of this model, the blank came from Scotland(it says'Scotlaqnd' on the end cap) and was finished in Vermont. The rod is in excellent overall shape-the guides are free of any corrosion and the wraps look great! The only wear that I see is on the locking ring for the reel. Which can be seen in the pictures. Otherwise it looks like the rod wasn't fished very much. I have lawn cast it with a 7 weight and it loaded nicely. I am sure it could handle an 8 weight line as well. It looks to be a great rod for steelhead or for fishing the larger rivers out west. Given the condition it would also make a nice collector's addition. The rod comes with a steel tube and cloth sack. Unfortunately, the ... morelabel and the serial number have also been removed. Possibly a kit rod? With that being said, this rod is in great shape and it is free of any defects. Its actual length is just over 9' 6" and it weighs 8.3oz. All three pieces are full-length, and they are straight. Please note, the reel seat has some oxidation and I believe this rod originally came with a fighting butt (I could not get the butt-cap off). The ferrules fit tight and they measure 17/64" (they do need a good cleaning). The cork handle is clean, and the bamboo looks amazing. This rod feels like it would handle 9-10wt fly lines (possibly even 10wt+). It would be perfect for salmon or even saltwater fishing.

One butt has 8-1/2' 4-3/4 oz. GBF(8) also very faint writing for Orvis impregnated. One butt has a very tiny area where you can see there was writing. This butt has a number at the ferrule. 19937. The other butt has no writing. The tip section is broken at the first guide after the tip top. It has a ferrule and guides on it. These came from the estate of Jeffery Godfrey. The Collaborative build became the industry standard in that fly rods could be built faster in which to meet large demands while allowing Two Sets of Very Trained Eyes Judge the Work to be released to a Very Fussy Clientele. Originally 6' 2 Piece Ultra Light for those of us that like to go'Light lining' and fish anywhere from 1 1/2 Pound Test up to 3 1/2 pound test. In Most Cases, Broken Tip Rods are pretty much worthless and don't fish properly. The Fact that this started out as a 6 Foot Superlight and has is no approximately 5' 6" Vs 6' has actually only taken the rod to the next level of Ultra Light Rods. I took it out and put it up against my Mint Superlight with 4 Pound Test, Both Rods using an Orvis 50A with Daiwa Steez 4 pound test line. The Rod offered Felt Very Much Like. When you loose the tip on a Heavy or Heavier Rod well it's pretty much shot, but when you loose the tip on a Whippy Super Ultra Light, you end up with basically a Light Weight better suited for lines between 3 1/2 and 6 Weight. The Rod Cast without any weird feelings or action and while tossing lures to some of our Big Bass on the South West side of the lake where the Big Bass tend to back up into their holes and Waite for what ever the next Qualified Meal might be, I had no problem having them take my Tied Crayfish. A few years ago I bought the Pezon out of France, when it arrived I did not realize for some time the tip was broken, when I put a line through the guides I held two pieces in my hands. Turned out I had a spare Orvis tip that fit the ferrule perfectly, I used it. Actually a very and I mean a very nice casting 6wt. Smooth as butter. Orvis 1970 WES JORDAN Model Bamboo Impregnated Fly Rod 7 1/2' 5/6 Weight
MADE BY Wes Jordan 7 1/2' models were only sold 3 years: 1969.70,71(retired) According to the catalogs of the period Wes Jordan"worked and inspected" this model. He in fact earned a commission on every Wes Jordan rod sold and his pride and expertise ensured that he spent his time on these(more than average rod) This rod is from 1970. Overall VG shape with only notable flaw being a tiny hook dig on one tip. It literally looks to be mostly the bakelite that is affected. The close up photo shows entire image enlarged. Many people probably would not even notice this flaw unless it was pointed out. Hook dig located between 3rd and 4th guide from ferrule(see last photo) I've relisted this rod with much lower cost(it was purchased BIN for $950, and after I noticed the flaw I let buyer know before I shipped, and we agreed to cancel ... moretransaction. Orvis Impregnated Deluxe 7' 2 pc. 2 tips Bamboo fly rod
Early 1960's rod. The"Deluxe" model. Impregnated 7' HDH line specified, casts a DT4 or WF5 with accuracy and authority. Two matching tips, ferrules still nice and tight, produce that lovely"pop" when disassembled. Was recently re-handled by famous rod builder Marc Aroner, as the original cork and rings were deteriorating. Cap and ring are custom turned and blued nickel silver. Only other change he made was to use a slightly larger stripper guide more suitable to modern lines. Ferrules and tips are completely original and straight, bag and case are original. This rod is a delight to cast and fights fish with authority.

Beautiful Vintage Orvis Battenkill Bamboo Rod - 8 1/2 Foot Two Piece Two Tips
This is an absolutely beautiful vintage Orvis Battenkill bamboo fly rod serial# 8700. The rod is an 8 1/2 feet two piece with an extra tip. It is 5 1/2 oz and uses a# 8 line. The rod is in perfect condition. I have fished this rod several times and it will really get the line out. Comes with original bag and tube. I do not need this big of a rod now as I am fishing the smaller streams of Colorado and Iowa. This rod is meant for a big river and thus a big fish. This is one of those rods that excites you just pulling it out of the tube and bag and smelling the cane. Wes Jordan-made ORVIS bamboo spinning rod, near perfect
Near-mint Orvis bamboo spinning rod. Made and marked by famed rod maker Wes Jordan in 1958. This rod is 2 pieces, one tip, 7' long and all correct, straight and original length. The finish is exceptional. Rod is a Battenkill grade(so marked on the butt) and was made for Ev Kimball by Wes Jordan(also so marked on the butt) serial numbers 23XXX on both butt and tip. I fished this rod twice last summer and it's a dream to cast. If you want the classiness of split cane for spinning, you won't find a better rod than this(and it's more than 50 years old! Comes in original sock and what I believe is the original Orvis aluminum rod tube, although there's no label on the tube. Vintage Orvis Umpqua Hart Bamboo Fly Reel NR 9 weight Vom Hofe Hardy Style
NO RESERVE AUCTION with Buy it Now You are bidding on a vintage 1970's Orvis Umpqua Reel anti-reverse RIGHT HAND WIND ONLY. This classic look has been taken from Vom Hofe and refined by the Hardy Cascapedia and now shows up in the Orvis reel. Perfect for your bamboo rod. The reel comes with 200 yds of 20 lb backing and 30 yds of WF9F. I am assuming the line is original. But looks fine to use as is. I have some research that this was built by Hart for Orvis, and that there were only 500 made, however, I can not confirm the 500 number. I am assuming that is where the number U302 came from Umpqua number 302 of 500. I have attached the Fireside Angler catalogue picture that describes and depicts this reel. It was sold in the 70's for $190 and the block leather case alone is worth at least $100 now. Also included are 2 spare cork drag ... morewashers(1 now damaged see note in bold below) however the two that are in the reel are fine like new. This reel is truly like new inside and out. Only thing I can see wrong is some marking on the inside of the leather case and a small nick near the U on the reel seat(See pictures) The nick may have occurred at the factory, I don't know. I was asked about the dimensions of the reel today. The diameter of the reel is 3 3/8" and the width of the spool between the end plates(without taking it apart) is 1 1/4" I am so mad at my self. After taking measurements and putting the reel back in the case. The reel foot hit one of the cork washers and snapped it in two. I thought I should tell everyone. The drag on the reel is awesome from free spin to"I can barely pull it out. I would consider taking this reel to fight large trout. Salmon, strippers, bonefish, whatever. Very nice complete Fly fishing outfit. The outfit is loaded with quality items. I will start with the Orvis Fly Fishing Vest. Size x/l. Loaded with pockets inside and out front and back. Items on the fest includ but not limited to. Cliff streem and dry.Ty Right Junior tool, stream works clipper,small fly box, Shamee, fine grane file with clippers, hemo stat plyers, all hooked up to working retractable line reels. The vest is used but nice condition. Only issue is there are some small pin holes from previous attachments. Wadders are steal shank size 10 made by Proline. The rubber is in great condition. One Cabellas"The Arcticreel original self cooling creel. Genuine scotch flax. Made in the USA. The creel has a stain on the front but the liner is in great shape with no rips or tears. Also included is a thermome ter and measuring tape ... morehook to the creel. One Mark 3 trout net Model#TN-17 made in south bend Indiana.Also includes magnetic attaching strap for easy storage on your back. Two fly reels with fly line already spooled. One Okuma Sierra S 4/5 fly reel and one Martin fly reel. reel is marked WF 7F for line weight. Both reels come in a fur lined and zippered case. All liquids are more then half full including Fenwick fly line dressing, fly floatant, fly sink, Orvis water shed. 14 nice and full fly boxes. All filled with hand made flies of all kinds of different types. I could not get all of them photographed do to picture limitations. I only opened 8 fly boxes for pictures. All 14 are full. Orvis Flea Bamboo Fly Rod, 4wt, Excellent Condition
For your consideration is an Orvis Flea. 6' 6" 2/1, 4wt, impregnated bamboo fly rod. 56561 Excellent condition. This rod has been lightly fished and cared for. Tube and label is in excellent condition. Built with one tip(see label) Sock has a slight tear from a ferrule poke through(see photo 3) I purchased this two years ago from someone that had not fished it since 1976. The ferrule had a slight tick- fit was a little loose. I sent it to Orvis and Charlie Hisey recommended replacing the ferrules. Except for the Orvis factory replaced ferrules. This is 100% original. A fun rod to fish with a progressive taper. Wes Jordan developed this taper in the early/mid 60's in response to William Mills& Son wanting a short. Light weight fly rod. 1958 Orvis Impregnated Batenkill Spinning Vintage Bamboo Rod
This 1958 Orvis Battenkill Spinning Bamboo rod is absolutely pristine. These HD pictures does not do this Rod any justice, It hasn't been used in at least 30 years, that is if it was ever used at all, I can not find any sort of mark on this rod to suggest it has ever been used. It is serial No. 24659, it was crafted in 1958 most likely from Calvin Skinner and George Reid, they crafted at Orvis and have documented serial numbers on record before and after this serial number. RARE Superfine Orvis Bamboo Fly Rod 1 Solid Piece
Bidding on a Vintage Orvis Fly Rod. I'm not exactly sure of it's age but the serial number is 49913 and that number matches the serial number on the origional metal rod container. On the rod itself it has written"Orvis Imbreanated" Superfine" 6'1 7/8oz" H.D.G.6) I can not find a crack or splinter anywhere on this rod. I have taken pictures of all the eyes and the cork. It is a one solid piece which as you know is rare. Everything on the metal case matches up with the rod. I have had it appraised by two guys and one says its worth between $1000-$1200 and the other says between $1200-$1500. If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me. Orvis. C. F. 8'0" unused impregnated bamboo trout rod. This is serial#5917(1948) And a very early version of the Wes Jordan two-piece impregnated rod. It has Jordan¹s aluminum down-locking reel seat and walnut wood spacer. And two full-length tip sections that are bullet straight. It also has the early all-aluminum one-piece pocket cap with"Orvis Impregnated Patent Pending"stamped on it. This is the"Dry Fly"model. Weighing 4.25 ounces. And the crisp action should work well with a WFF 6 line. The cork doesn't have a stain on it. And there is no evidence of wear on the top guides. The rod comes in the original Orvis bag and aluminum tube that. With the help of some tape. Still has the label. With the original price of $82.50 still on that label. I think we can prove that inflation has spread to the bamboo ... morerod market.

1959 ORVIS ROCKY MOUNTAIN PRESENTATION ROD SET I am reluctantly thinning out my bamboo rod collection and am offering this rare 1959 ORVIS Rocky Mountain Presentation Rod Set in original. Mint condition. These 2 rods have never been fished. Also referred to as the ORVIS Rocky Mountain Twin Set. It consists of: ORVIS Rocky Mountain Impregnated Bamboo Fly Rod. 6 ½’ 3 section/ 2 tip, NOTE: the fly line size is not marked on the rod. ORVIS recommended SILK fly line size"HDG" for the Rocky in 1959. HDG" translates to a 6 weight forward SILK fly line but a more appropriate modern(AFTMA) fly line size would be a 5 weight. It would also throw a 4 weight line quite nicely, 3 oz. 13-10 ferrules, Orvis Superfine cork grip, walnut and locking aluminum reel seat. Both rods were built by ORVIS master rod builders George Reid and Calvin Skinner. These 2 beautiful rods are carefully fitted into a custom made factory wood case with a tan vinyl covering and felt-lined. The leather handle is functional but does need a minor leather repair. Orvis Seven/three 2-3/8 oz 2/1 Bamboo Fly Rod
This bamboo fly rod is an Orvis Seven/three 2-3/8 oz 2/1 with original rod tube and rod bag. Although this rod was an originally listed on the tube as a 2/2. When I purchased it approximately 20 years ago it came as a 2/1. The last time I checked Orvis will make a new extra tip for this fly rod for approximately $150. I have never found the necessity of doing so. This rod is listed for a 3 wt line and casts beautifully with a DT3F. The rod is in the 66XXX serial number range which I believe would place its manufacture somewhere in the 70's or 80's or earlier. To me, this is the perfect smaller stream fly rod with a dry fly demeanor that allows you to cast all day without giving any thought to the weight of the fly rod in your hand. With the exception of very slight grip soiling this rod is in excellent ++ condition. This rod was crafted by Calvin Skinner and George Reid on April 11th. 1960 and is serial number 26747(there are no other markings) Skinner and Reid were top flight rod makers that spent long careers at Orvis. This example is a two piece rod with two tip sections and is in excellent condition with sound windings and no cracks or splits while the reel seat is in perfect condition and the cork handle has only a couple of very small dents and very slight soiling. ORVIS BATTENKILL 7 1/2 FOOT 2/2 BAMBOO FLY ROD IN EXCELLENT CONDITION ROD
This is an Orvis Battenkill 2/2 4 ounce bamboo fly rod. This rod was rarely ever fished. It is in absolute excellent condition. All sections are straight and original length. The ferrules are tight and wraps are perfect. I contaced Orvis and they conformed it was built by Ron White in 1990 SERIAL NUMBER 87802. It comes with a soft case and a hard tube case. Vintage Orvis Equinox Bamboo Fly Rod
This is an 8'0" 2 piece rod. The rod was originally purchased by a life-long angler and sportsman and I recently inherited it. From reading the history of this model, the blank came from Scotland(it says'Scotlaqnd' on the end cap) and was finished in Vermont. The rod is in excellent overall shape-the guides are free of any corrosion and the wraps look great! The only wear that I see is on the locking ring for the reel. Which can be seen in the pictures. Otherwise it looks like the rod wasn't fished very much. I have lawn cast it with a 7 weight and it loaded nicely. I am sure it could handle an 8 weight line as well. It looks to be a great rod for steelhead or for fishing the larger rivers out west. Given the condition it would also make a nice collector's addition. Orvis 7.5’ 2/1 Bamboo kit rod
This rod was“built” by an acquaintance when he was a youngster. I have tried it with 5 and lighter lines and it casted quite well for me. It was probably spec’d for a line size around 6 but I thought a 5wt was too much so I put a 3wt on it and liked it just fine. Comes with an Orvis rod tube that I added later.
