I promised the original owner I would put a fish on it, and I did (small Maine brookie). Other than that it had about three uses and was cast maybe a few dozen times. It has a downward locking reel seat. The ferule is still very tight fitting and the rod casts beautifully. I paired it with this lightweight reel and the line is also from Cortland, the 444 Classic 6wt. I’ve included a classic Orvis reel case as well. These rods were made on Phillipson epoxite blanks and are the pinacle of a good fiberglass rod. For the Orvis or Phillipson collector this is a must have. The rod. As with all Orvis rods, is overated and stated to be a 7wt. The rod is not good with a 7wt line, it feels tippy. However, if you put a DT6 cortland peach444 on this rod, it truly is magificent. Some people claim to use this rod for bass. I used it on a spring creeks in WY and it was the perfect rod for medium size rising trout. Full flexing, very delicate presentations, and a true delight to cast. The 8' rod seems to pop up less than the shorter Eagles and is just as rare in this condition. Original bag and tube. I loathe sellig this rod but have become wrapped up in making bamboo rods and must sell my stuff to finance tools. Best of luck! Rod will be shipped priority and insured. Up for sale is a Beautiful Orvis Trident TL 4 piece Fly Fishing Rod. This comes with a semi hard Red carrying case. There are only 2 minor issues I found with this. The trident on the pole looks to be worn off slightly and the butt cap seems to be on loosely. Other then these very minor issues this seems to be in very good condition. Orvis Golden Eagle Fiberglass Fly Rod (Phillipson Epoxite)
Here is a(Like New) Orvis Golden Eagle 8' 2/1 6wt. It is in absolutely beautiful condition. The rod has had one owner and was very lightly fished when new and then stored safely for decades. These rods were made on Phillipson epoxite blanks and are the pinacle of a good fiberglass rod. For the Orvis or Phillipson collector this is a must have. The rod. As with all Orvis rods, is overated and stated to be a 7wt. The rod is not good with a 7wt line, it feels tippy. However, if you put a DT6 cortland peach444 on this rod, it truly is magificent. Some people claim to use this rod for bass. I used it on a spring creeks in WY and it was the perfect rod for medium size rising trout. Full flexing, very delicate presentations, and a true delight to cast. The 8' rod seems to pop up less than the shorter Eagles and is just as rare in this condition. ... moreOriginal bag and tube. Originally 6' 2 Piece Ultra Light for those of us that like to go'Light lining' and fish anywhere from 1 1/2 Pound Test up to 3 1/2 pound test. In Most Cases, Broken Tip Rods are pretty much worthless and don't fish properly. The Fact that this started out as a 6 Foot Superlight and has is no approximately 5' 6" Vs 6' has actually only taken the rod to the next level of Ultra Light Rods. I took it out and put it up against my Mint Superlight with 4 Pound Test, Both Rods using an Orvis 50A with Daiwa Steez 4 pound test line. The Rod offered Felt Very Much Like. When you loose the tip on a Heavy or Heavier Rod well it's pretty much shot, but when you loose the tip on a Whippy Super Ultra Light, you end up with basically a Light Weight better suited for lines between 3 1/2 and 6 Weight. The Rod Cast without any weird feelings or action and while tossing lures to some of our Big Bass on the South West side of the lake where the Big Bass tend to back up into their holes and Waite for what ever the next Qualified Meal might be, I had no problem having them take my Tied Crayfish. Orvis Superfine Trout Bum 6' 2 wt 4 piece rod in excellent condition! This is on of the 1 oz series of Orvis rods although I believe that this one actually weights 1.2 oz. It feels extremely light in hand and is a joy to cast! It's a Full-Flex 3.0 rod using Orvis' measuring system but it's not a slow rod and casts very nicely with both 2 and 3 wt lines. I used a 2 wt double taper on it with great success. At 6' in length and 4 pieces the rod tube is less than 22" long and fits easily in carry-on luggage. This is perfect for small stream. Tight quarters fishing. The rod is in excellent condition with very few signs of wear. I went over it from tip to butt while with a damp rag to make sure there were no scratches or gouges. The cork is also in great shape as you can see from the photo. The rod sock is in very good ... morecondition with no stains. This is an Orvis"All-Rounder" 8' 3" 2 1/2 oz. 2 pc. fly rod. Rated 7 wt. by Orvis, at 2 1/2 oz. this is the same weight as an 8 1/2 ft. 5 wt. Henry's Fork" or an 8 ft. 6 wt. Trout" model, which often weighs in at 2 1/2 oz. Go figure. It is a medium action with a strong back half and softer towards the tip, probably why they rated it for 7 line, because of the strong back half. It is a light 7 wt. and fishes well with a floating or sinking 6, which were the lnes I liked best on it and a DT 5 floating works real well too. This one's in good shape, see the pictures. 2 tips here, the main tip that is original to the rod and a"spare" tip that is 4 inches short, that came off another"All-Rounder" I broke and had repaired by Orvis, so you will have two rods here really. It is the full flex and comes with the Orvis tube and sock as seen in the picture. The sock has a tag for your name and information and it is not written on. All stickers are intact on the rod case and it is in great condition. The reel is also in like new condition with no nicks or scratches of any kind. It is lined with backing and a weight forward#3 floating line. This is as close to factory new as you can get at a much better price. This is a ready to fish setup. This is a 6 1/2 ft.Two piece Bamboo fly rod. Condition:I must say I'm not an expert with old fishing rods.I assembl ed the rod and noticed the bamboo tip section seems to me a little darker shade then the butt section bamboo.I found this rod in a estate.With that said.I do n't know if this shade difference is normal to be like this or if the tip section was ever replaced.Is why I'm selling this as is. The rod looks nice.Would make a very nice wall hanger or a rod to be fished with. A fantastic all around trout rod that could be used on a farm pon d for panfish or light bass. All guides. Wraps, and ferrules are in great shape. Tip section looks new than butt section and may have been re-built by Orvis. Cork shows some use but is pretty clean for a 30year old rod as shown in pics.
