Rare Sage LL 486-3 Fly Rod with Blank Warranty Card Beautiful Excellent Cndition
This is a beautiful used Sage LL Fly Rod. Graphite III construction. Three piece. Eight and a half foot for four weight. Cork is barely soiled as this rod has only seen the water a handful of times. Seems I neglect it so it should be in the hands of someone who will give it water time. There are a some slight scratches to the reel seat end but these could be buffed out. Amazingly, the nickel silver is still pretty shiny. Maybe not as bright as the showroom days but still looks really nice. I have gone over the rod and cannot see any scratching or dings to the blank. There is barely any indication that the rods ferrules have ever come together as I always kept a good layer of wax on them. This has the split ring hook keeper as well. All wraps in great shape. No chunks out of the cork. The tube shows wear but is perfectly round. Cap fits perfectly ... moreand still has the rubber seal. And the most amazing part is that I never filled out the original warranty card so that comes with it as well. Sage GFL 490 LLB 3 piece. 4 weight light line Graphite III custom fly rod. Rod was built by an experienced professional fly rod builder using a genuine factory 1st blank with all hardware matching factory built. Includes factory sock and a non OEM green cordura case. Beautifully constructed and finished. There are a few exceptions from factory specifications: the stripping guide was upgraded, the wrappings have a bronze prime thread with green tipping, and the grip was slightly sanded to a custom fit. Side by side I think the custom is finished better than the factory. The 490LL. Along with the 389LL, are legendary fantastic technical spring creek rods. But they still excel for any fishing that calls for a long, light line rod. Easy smooth Sage LL delicate presentation but with the reserve power to throw a whole line or keep casting into ... morea wind when needed. Here in Florida now I personally also use mine for bluegill and small bass, a perfect fit there too. The final photo shows the handles of this rod side by side with my factory rod. They are almost identical but close examination shows the slightly different shape of the custom grip. The rod was custom made for a very fussy lady who wanted to try fly fishing. She used it to learn to cast and then a couple of days fishing. She decided that it wasn't her thing. So I have had the rod stored in a closet since.

This is a very nice example of the Sage LL line of rods. It is a factory Sage Graphite lll GFL 366 LL rod. This is a 6'6" beauty that is for#3 line and weighs 2 oz. I don't think I will be using a 3 wt. again and here is your chance to pick up a fairly rare size rod in the legendary LL line. This rod is a pleasure to cast and can make longer casts when needed. The rod is in great used condition and I have dried and cleaned it after each use. It has marks on the reel seat and the cork has darkened somewhat. The rest of the rod is unmarked. The tube has one dent near the end next to the cap and other signs of being taken on numerous fishing trips. The sock looks good and has years of life left in it. Well. I need to sell a flyrod or two that just aren't being used. This is a great example of a hard-to-find Sage 356LL, complete with the original Sage cloth sack and tube. The rod is a two-piece rod, 5' 6" long, for a 3 weight line. I think this is the smallest(shortest) of all the Sage Light Line rods, but I'm not positive. I went over the rod inch by inch, there isn't a mark on the blank anywhere, the blank and guides are pristine. You can see that a reel has been on the rod at least once from the most minor of impressions in the cork reel seat. The sliding bands and butt cap have a bit of patina, due to age, but nothing more. I purchased the rod just as you see it here, but have never fished it. The tube has a few scratches and scuffs, as shown in the photos. These are minor, there are no dings or dents. I've ... moreplaced what I think is a reasonable reserve on the rod, mostly because it's such an unusual size that I'm not really sure how the auction might go. SAGE LL 379-3 Fly Rod 7'9" 3 Wt Custom *BEAUTIFUL* Light Line
I am selling a bunch of custom rods from a guy that does about 20-30 per year. He does it for his therapy and then purges a bunch at a time. He does fish some of them. But there are so many, that no one man can put that many hours on that many rods. He learned to wrap rods from the local fly shop owner and rod builder, so he knows all of the tricks of the trade and has improved on some. He specializes in larger, saltwater rods, so they are built better than any factory rod and uses top end components. He seals the cork grips to protect from body oils, dirt and fish slime, which is why most of the cork is slightly off color. He also reinforces the ferrules on most of the rods with thread wraps the length of the ferrule. I am a big fan of the Sage LLs and have four models myself, including this one. This is the famous Sage Light Line. Many have said this is possibly the best rod Sage ever built. Has a finesse presentation but also has some power to launch bigger flies. Here is a great little rod. This is a Sage 366 LL fly rod. It is 6'6" and designed for 3 wt lines. It is in very nice condition. The reel seat has a couple small marks. The metal threads are a little discolored as is the cork. Other than that the rod looks great. It has been a fine rod to use in the Sierras. I took good care of it and tried not to make too many casts over 120 feet into the wind with it(just checking to see if you were reading the whole description) Other minor issues are the tube has one small dent near the cap and the sock has a very small repair at the bottom seam that has been fixed(if black thread is used there would be no spotting it. It never bothered me so I never changed the thread color) Here is a chance to get a pretty rare rod in the Light Line series. I just don't use this rod any more.
