Vintage Scientific Anglers System 4 Fiberglass Fishing Rod. 7' 2" Line Wt. 4. B3883. I had this rod listed a couple of months ago as being in pristine condition. An ebay watcher asked for more photos and thought that the tip had been broken off and repaired at one time. I took the rod into a local tackle shop and they agreed that the tip has been repaired. Other than that, the rod is in really nice shape. I think this rod belonged to my Dad and it has just been in storage for years. I just moved and finally had to clean out. The shop owner I spoke with actually suggested that someone might want to shorten the rod a little more; possibly just below the highest guide. Right now, the rod is about 6" 11 1/2" originally a 7'2" rod) It's still a nice vintage rod, unfortunately, not"pristine" I've included ... moreadditional photos that show the tip in more detail.

I have the following rod/reel for auction for the beginner-intermediate fly fisherman. This auction is for a Scientific Anglers System 2 Model 78 fly reel and a 2 piece Graphite Cortland Rod 7/8 weight as well. The reel is complete with fairly new backing. Fly line, and some tippet that I will include. The line is weight forward floating tip. The reel comes with a case and both items are in excellent condition. Both were probably used less than 15 times. The 7-8 weight rod/reel combo is perfect for bass. Large panfish, and trout. I probably wouldn't try king salmon on this rod but I had considered trying. Here is a brand new Scientific Anglers System 8 Fly Reel. In the 1970's SA offered this new reel made by HARDY BROTHERS in England. This reel has the exposed spool rim to assist with drag control. May have been the first reel offered with that feature. After a few years this reel was no longer offered by SA, Hardy Brothers of England offered it as the Marquis fly reel series. Spools are interchangeable. This SA System 8 Fly Reel is designed for trout fishing. The drag system is spring& pawl, the spool is easily changed from right to left hand wind. Please refer to the photos and you will note that this beautiful old fly reel is accompanied by it's reel case. Original box and papers. IMPORTANT: I cut down the dragontail running line to 60 or 70' long. I don't remember exactly) it is NOT 120' like the package says. I did this to fit it on a smaller reel and a total of 100' of line was plenty for my intended use for this 5/6 spey line. The factory end where the running line attaches to the head is in fine shape, it is thicker and you don't get that"hinge" feeling like you do with regular running lines.
