Though used. You will be hard pressed to tell. It has been carefully maintained. There are no blemishes, or scratches. It comes with the original pouch, but I removed the name plate that has my name on it. I am selling this reel for the hard to defend reason that I have wanted a new black QC. Functionally, this one is as good, I'm sure, though not the latest model. An astute buyer will be well aware of the price of the latest model Everglades reels. I hope someone who knows the excellence represented by Tibor reels, but has never owned one, will get this reel for his Christmas present. It will be his go-to 8,9,10 weight reel for years to come.

Billy Pate Salmon fly fishing reel. Left hand retrieve. Anti-reverse. Gold and black. This reel is in very good condition but does have a number of minor scratches on the gold side of the reel. Please see pics. However, this is a workhorse of a reel and is mechanically excellent. Included is the original box with original reel pouch. Pouch is in excellent condition. Box nearly so. Also included is backing and a fly line. I don't know what weight the fly line is. Probably an 8 floating. Instructions/parts list sheet also included. I am not sure but I believe this reel is currently around $500 new. I am not sure how old this is but the serial number is U469. Anti-reverse means the handle does not spin when a fish is taking out line. With most fly reels. I am not all that excited about selling this reel. I have three others. Two left hand and one right hand retrieve billy pate salmon reels in anti reverse. I am finding that I do not need a second right hand retrieve reel for what I do. I would like to just keep the reel because its a great reel but I can't reason it, its got to go. This is a great reel. It is in great shape. The reel has minor scuffs on the bottom of the gold part of the reel. Its four years old and has some natural wear on the out side of it as well. It is minor. Its in perfect working order. When it was used, it was always washed, dried, and cared for after every use. It has not yet been engraved, and this appears to be easily done by removing the semi-circular tab and bringing the plate to a sports/engraving shop. TIBOR TAILWATER FLY REEL WITH SUPER MODIFIED DRAG AND NICE 5WT LINE
First time I hooked up with a 20" fat rainbow in the river. After the initial set I began to increase the drag until it was fully engaged and she just kept swimming away. That was rather annoying so I took the spool off and found a couple of things. One was that the reel was way over lubricated and the greasy lubricant was wicking up onto the drum and cork drag material. See third photo to see the innards. Solution was to clean out all the excess lubricant and clean the cork and drum with a solvent to remove all the residue. Then gradually work some Neasfoot oil into the cork. That helped a bit, but I was still not satisfied with the resisitance. Replaced spring in the drag system with a stronger spring, Bingo. The drag would bring the spool to almost a complete stop, and had a much wider range of adjustment from Freespooling to almost ... morestopped. Don't know why Tibor doesn't build them that way to begin with. I will include the original spring with the reel, and it is a simple operation if you want it changed back to the original set up. The reel is lined with 5wt floating line, and is in very good to excellent condition
