Mint Winston BII MX 9ft-8wt fly rod 4-sections
This rod is like new. I received it and it appeared to be new. I used it one time for a couple hours. I had planned to use it on an upcoming steelhead trip that was canceled. To be honest I had to list it as used but you will think it's a new rod by it's condition. There is no warranty card for this rod but once again it is perfect. This is a great saltwater/steelhead salmon rod. I am selling the reel also that mates with this in a different listing. Here is an opportunity to acquire a classic R. L. Winston fly rod that is not only in very good condition but also is a piece of Winston history. This 9 foot. 6 weight, three-piece rod was built in the mid-1980s soon after Winston had moved from San Francisco to Bozeman, Montana. It is built on a pre-IM6 Fisher graphite blank with the smooth action that has made Winston famous. It has a full Wells grip and down-locking rod seat. This rod has the sought-after"Trophy Cup" label. As you probably know. The standard Trophy label was on a gold background. However, a few were made with the Trophy on a silver background, and this appears to be one of those rare examples. Writers on the Winston forum have speculated that Winston received from its label supplier a batch of"wrong" color labels and used some of them until the supplier ... morereplaced them with the"correct" gold background labels. Regardless of the reason, very few rods exist with the Trophy Cup on a silver label, and this is one. The rod is in very good condition and a pleasure to fish with. The original green cloth rod sack is like new. The original silver-color rod tube has the original Winston label that is partially worn off. And the exterior of the tube bears scrapes and scars commensurate with its age. It's time for me to trim down my rod collection. I'll pack carefully and deliver immediately after receiving payment. We knew these new rods would be great for our traveling crew. However, when we picked one up we were pleasantly surprised to find a great general-purpose rod as well. Rep Samples are samples of the original products that have been primarily carried around and shown to different fly shops around the country. Most rep sample rods have only been cast in fly shop parking lots or lawns for demonstration or testing purposes. Sometimes rep samples are used on the water for demo/trial purposes. Rep Sample rods do not come with the unconditional lifetime warranty. They are. In most cases, exactly the same product as what is on the shelf and only in some instances are they slightly different. If they are different, we do our best to mention any difference between the sample rod that is for sale and the actual products we sell in the shop. In the case of this Winston 1290-4 fly rod, there is no difference between this ... morerod and the production model. This is a 12-weight. 9-foot, 4-piece fly rod that has been lightly used, and is in very good condition! This Winston fly rod is in very good condition overall. The rod looks to have been“lightly” used. And all four rod pieces look great– with little sign of wear. Everything looks nice around each ferrule and guide and the hardware is also in great shape. The 12" cork grip shows very light discoloration simply due to normal handling. The cork grip does have a small chip in it– a little less than a ½ inch in size(see picture) There is also a tiny spot on the cork grip that looks like a very tiny little dab of epoxy( it may be removable. Neither of these flaws would affect the rod’s performance. This rod comes with its original rod sock and tube. The rod sock does have the rod weight and length written in marker(see picture) There are no other markings on this rod. Sock or tube to indicate is a Rep Sample. When the wind discourages others from heading out. You’ll appreciate owning this powerful, accurate 12-weight. This 12-weight is the perfect rod for casting sinking lines at night to large tarpon or fighting marlin and sailfish. W
