Gordon Swenatron is an obscure fish decoy carver whose decoys are excellent. Original works of art with outstanding folk art qualities and decorator appeal. They are hand made and hand painted and exhibit wonderful personality and visual appeal. This outstanding and larger sized Swenarton Muskie measures a very nice 9 3/4" long. It has carved gill markings and red glass eyes. The decoy is painted in really folky and muted shades of green and yellow with accents in white and pink. The open mouth is filled with dozens of individually carved wooden teeth which gives this decoy outstanding personality and visual appeal. It is beautifully made and looks fantastic on display. Mike Ott is a very obscure fish decoy carver from Northern Minnesota. His work is included in the collector's reference book FISH DECOY MAKERS PAST AND PRESENT and are seldom seen on ebay. This decoy is part of a nice little collection that just came in. It represents a trout and is painted in a very unusual folk art style. This is an early example of Mike's work before he went toward the ultra realistic style and has to be very unusual. It measures 6 1/2" long and has carve gill and mouth features. It is completely hand made and hand painted in the old schiool tradition. The condition is original and lightly fished with light wear and signs of age. The maker has signed the decoy by carving MO into the belly. It also has 2" carved next to the MO but I am not sure what this may mean. Here we have a Duluth Fish Decoys Folk Art Trout Ice Fishing Spearing Decoy. This decoy is in excellent shape and was made by Dave Perkins of DFD. This is a very unique piece as it has coins embedded on both sides. The paint and carving on this piece look great and there is no damage to the piece. The bottom of the fish is signed DFD and it is about 12" in length. This decoy also has glass eyes that look nice and overall this is a wonderfully made decoy. Handmade in 1930(or earlier) by a resident of Meriden. Connecticut, USA, for ice fishing on local ponds. Lot consists of 3 wooden tip-ups about 18" long, painted green with an orange stripe. We were eating in a Famous fish restaurant on the beach at Clearwater.Florida and I saw one of their cup's and decided I would create a fish decoy, that I could sell to that restaurant. I no sooner created a design that was some what like their picture on the cup and they closed all their restaurants in Florida. I had fun doing this Decoy and finished this on in 2008. I am selling the cup with this decoy, it is 5" long x 2-3/4" high x 3/4" thick-made of my favorite wood-old knotty cedar-from Torch Lake Mich. Did the fins out of old coat hangars and pored lead in the decoy for sinkability. Sign Jim Scheibner and stamped JCAS-08. Shell's. Never been used, but could be used for ice fishing. Cup is included with decoy. It cost $10.00.

Found this nice old heavy piece of Oak drift wood off the beautiful beach at VERMILLION. Ohio on LAKE ERIE, a few years back. Buckeye" is 25" long x 5" across the fins and 4-1/2" high. He is signed by Jim Scheibner, stamped on the lead poured for sinkability(JCAS-06) and this statement is written on the decoy, This driftwood came from the beach at Vermilion, Ohio on Lake Erie. This decoy would probably scare the Walleye away. He weighs 2 lbs. and can be used for collecting, decorating or ice fishing.

VINTAGE ICE FISHING DECOY FOLK ART OSCAR PETERSON ??
VINTAGE ICE FISHING DECOY with glass eyes measuring 5 1/2 x 1 1/4 x 1/2 inches. The material is probably antler. It does have a flat belly. Mouth and curved body reminiscent of the work of Oscar Peterson but I do not remember him working with antler. A crack in the tail has been repaired. There is now a whole school of Oscar disciples and why not emulate the best. Inuit examples in antler or bone do not resemble this form. A curious addition to your Decoy Collection from Northern Michigan.

Simply called this Florida"TORTOISE" as they are all over the state and we visited a state sponsored wild life center and they have patterns for the kids to copy all the parts and glue them together to make a turtle. So I did just that and this Tortoise is a little different in that it can be used for Ice Fishing. Collecting and Decorating. It does have poured lead in the belly for sink ability and is stamped on the lead, JCAS-06 and signed by me. Mr. tortoise is 8-1/2" long x 8" wide x 3/4" thick. Head, legs, tail are all made of sheet metal, body of knotty cedar and belly was poured lead for sink ability. Weighs almost l lb.
