They both have line& hooks w/leaders and appear to be in used but very good condition. You are bidding on a pair of Vintage Frabil Classic High Performance Hardwood Tip-Ups. These tip up are in great working condition with minor wear. The tip-up with the line on it has some minor tarnish on the main shaft. The tip-up without line has a 1" blue/green colored mark on it. I didn't try scrubbing it off. So I wouldn't damage the finish. The wing nut on the side is broken, it still works, I just didn't have one to replace it. These are from when Beaver Dam switched over from the brass name tags to the 1st sticker tags that still had the patent# on them. Tip ups with theses particular stickers are very rare so they are very sought after by collectors. One is a 25th Aniversary special, not collector quality there is a screw hole by the 25th emblem and a tiny nail hole on the other end by the flag, there are some scrapes on the side and a mark at 15" which is the size limit on Walleyes in some Wisconsin lakes, middle one has nice wood grain, looks like it was used very little if at all, flag looks like new, the third has the old olive drab paint. This lot of 8 Ice Fishing Tip-Ups plus parts is Very Unique in Design. Six are black in color and very light wood and two are clear light wood. The parts are lightweight wood in black and clear wood with metal pointed legs! See pictures to view the pointed metal legs that go down to anchor into ice. TEN very old wooden ice fishing"TIP UPS" I really do not know how these work-I was told they are called"TIP UPS" for ice fishing. ~ NICE& OLD ~ 5 are what looks like lacquered vintage"OAK" wood measuring each about 24" long x 1 7/8" wide x about 3/8" thick. String still wrapped on the wood and they each have vey old tattered and torn black fabric flags. There is a piece of inlaid copper wire on each board. A couple still have small red thread wrapped hooks still attached. ~A few extra thread wrapped hooks also included~ see photos*~5 old wood(not sure what type wood) measure each about 23 1/2" long x 1 1/4" wide x about 3/8" thick. All still have string and old tattered red flags. These 5 have a hand written name of an origunal owner: F. KIMBALL Portland.ME. I would say that these two tips ups are in very good condition. One of the tip ups has the letter K on the flag. One of the tip ups the spring guide instead of being a solid circle was cut open by a fisherman to make it easier to put the line and hook through. I have seen this done on several Beaver Dam tip ups that I had. I do believe that you can apply a little heat to this cut circle and it will close up. One spring on one of the tip ups has a little light rust and the spring has some separation in it but it still functions-see photos. These springs actually should be turned periodically to keep the spring from separating. The boards I would say are in very good condition with good ... morevarnish-there is a sliver of wood missing on one end of one tip up-nothing serious. Again. Overall in EXCELLENT SHAPE for their age of 26 years old! These are in great shape and all parts are in excellent working order. These are a very heavy duty tip ups and completely usable today but many collectors of quality vintage fishing equipment would cringe at the thought! The wood is thick 3/4" and long at 23" and the width is 3" Wood is heavily coated by the factory and in it's original condition. These are the best built tip up ever. With Heavy Duty Brass line guides that are made to last 100 years or more! Beautiful Collectible item! Still has the old original line when used for ice fishing years ago. The original copper/Brass owner tag marked"Anthony Etes. 17 S. Franklin St. Saratoga, N.Y. It is approximately 19"x2"x3" folded& 17"x18" set up to fish with a 12" high flag. It has a good Brass Reel/Spool with Brass& Steel Trigger assembly& intact Fabric Flag on steel spring. This is a descent Arctic Fisherman tip up from Beaver Dam. Wisconsin. The side walls of the reel need a little straightening, there is some green paint on the board and the flag spring is a little sprung. Other than that its fine. Lot of 2 Wood Wooden Reel Antique Vintage Ice Fishing Tip Ups or Traps
This is a set of very nice old ice fishing rods or traps tip ups(not sure what they're called) that measures 24" long. Each has a wooden reel that moves freely and has line and a little ring that hooks on the trigger of the trap. Each also has a piece of flexible metal with a little red"flag" on the end that slides out and bends onto another piece. Setting the trap. When a fish gets hooked, it causes the pole with the flag to go up, telling the fisherman a fish is on. Everything is in good condition for the age. It is for ice fishing and is a wood mounted, approx. 22" in length, device which is spring assisted, has a, spinning reel mounted a third of the way down. It is dark stained and has an aluminum flag/ weight on the end. The beauty of this tip up is it's simple design and function. It collapses completely flat and can be put up in less than a minute. You are looking at four Wisconsin Arctic Fisherman tip-ups for ice-fishing. The Beaver Dam tip up is a very hard to find and rare 25th Anniversary issue. This is a highly sought after sporting collectible in the much desired dark wood finish. Then there is one Custom made tip up made by Emery"Trapper" Morrison of Merrill. Wisconsin and sold at Bill's House of Guns of Merrill, Wisconsin. I purchased these at a garage sale from an old man who had the label on the tip-up. Next we have a Frabill Classic High Performance Hardwood Tip-up brand new in the box. And last but not least we have a Rare South Bend Elite Hardwood Wooden Tip-up brand new in the package, I can not find any more of these for sale anywhere- very high quality The tip-ups are ready for action. Vintage tip up handmade and sold in Wisconsin Dells. Wisconsin. Good quality workmanship and materials make this a useful tool for ice fishing yet today. Fold compactly for storage and even hold the flag snugly in place for travel. With a little cleaning, I think it would also make a great item for a display. It measures about 12.5" in length. GREAT VINTAGE 1960'S ICE FISHING STORE DISPLAY FOR BITE LITE WI TIP UP BOBBER
For auction is a great vintage 1960's Ice fishing store counter display for the Bite Lite Tip-up lighted bobber. The display was made by Ed Bodde Co. of Trego Wisconsin and was a patented product. The store display actually still works. And if you put one oft he lighted tip bobber on the metal spring loaded tip-0up, when its pulled over the bobber lights up. Each of the bobbers still left on the product card has a battery in it, which probably should be changed or removed. The bobbers metal bodies do show some corrosion from storage. The white product card is in good shape with some stains and other wear. The wood based tip up display also shows wear from use and age. The tip up display measures 9 1/4 inches long by 3 inches deep by 9 inches tall to the top of the tip up. This is a very rare fishing store display. See my other auctions ... morefor more cool stuff.
