A lot of vintage fly fishing items used to tie flys. Hooks. Feathers,furs, etc. The paint I am sure is no good but the bottles are cool and all the items look good. The spools of thread are cool and old also. The feathers and furs look good. One small part(a couple of items) smells funny so I put it in a separate bag. I don't think it it the items inside(duck feathers) just the small paper bag. But it is original container so I left it as it is. I don't know anything about fly fishing so I can't answer technical questions. The stuff was just in a container I bought. I am not a"super seller" I just hate to throw this out if someone wants it. The lot can be used to start a hobby. Or if you fly fish I am sure you can use this stuff, or if you just want the old items to use as decoration of your man cave area. Slightly bent brass rods, some white stuff stuck onto the back side, wear on the front side rounded parts and organizer, discolorations on the top side, and the bottom side felt covering has wear spots. The"Basic Fly Tying" book has wear to the edges and scuffing on the top and bottom of the dust cover, with scuffing present on the hard back cover of the book. The"Benchside Introduction to Fly Tying" book has wear to both the front and back covers and the first page is wrinkled at the bottom. The 10 empty hooks/beads containers have scuffing to the clear plastic. The fly tying tool set has stray bristles on the wire brush and some scratches on the tweezers as well as the hair ... morestackers. The 26 spools of fly tying threads are unsealed. Some of the containers holding the tungsten beads are scuffed on the clear plastic. The hen/whole capes are intact. The animal furs/hair are intact. The peacock herl and eyed sticks are intact. The Hareline Dubbin fly tying materials are intact. The turkey biot quills in the set of 3 fly tying materials are frayed at the tips. The containers holding the tiemco fly tying fishing hooks are scuffed on the clear plastic. The fly tying stripped goose biot materials set of 3 are intact. The lamp/magnifier lens power tested good but has worn felt on the bottom of the base and small scratches/scuffs to the lens and light cover. This is a large vintage lot of fly tying supplies. This came from a large old estate and all came from the same house. Based on the contents. It looks like a lot of it is from the 1940's and 50's. A quick search on the wax paper of the 10 or so"Gregg's Artificial Flies" from Bristol Conn. finds this supply came from none other than E. C. Gregg, who wrote one of the early bibles on fly tying in 1940. In fact, some of the bag tags are initialed with a"g" as being selected and packed by Gregg. Likewise, the bag of hooks from Jos Thomassin in Canada dates to the 1940's as well. There are lots of feathers, big and small. Dyed feathers, Moose and Calf Tail(from St. John's Newfoundland) even a bunch of teeth! No idea why those are in there? There are 10+ wooden spools of fine bright threads. This was an Estate find here in Northern Michigan. It is loaded with all types of feathers such as goose pointers. Brown Hackle, Mallard Plumage, Pheasant Tippets, Cuss Prather’s, and some that are not marked. Also lots of loose feathers of all kinds and colors.
