Lillian Cameron the original owner of Lakair Lodge built the cottages around 1948, at the end of the Second World War. The first cottages were open-stud walls with open cathedral ceilings. ... moreEach cottage had a wood stove for heat and each assigned to its own "numbered" outhouse.

Since that time there have been many changes and our cottages now come complete with 3 piece baths (inside toilets, and hot showers), up-to-date kitchens with full-size fridge, stove, coffee makers, toasters and microwaves. The beds are constantly being replaced in order to provide the best comfort for our guests.

The cottages still maintain their "'50s" look and charm.
We pride ourselves on keeping them well maintained and get many compliments from our guests on how clean they are kept.

You'll find no TVs in our cottages, and no phones. Many of our guests actually prefer not having TVs and other distractions in the cottages. This quiet atmosphere provides a great opportunity to spend quality time with your family and friends enjoying a board game or cards.

Open the windows on a warm night and you may fall asleep listening to the loons calling across the dark calm waters or the sound of the winds blowing through the pines.

For those who need their contact with the outside world we have a pay phone in the main lodge and most cell phones work in our area. We have a computer set up next to our Snakbar where guests can use free Internet access. Beginning in 2010, we now porvide wireless internet to all of our cottages. This is a free service provided by the lodge. There is a TV, in the lodge’s dining room, where you can watch special events.

Our campgrounds are located some 300 - 500 feet back from the lake, under the shade of tall pines. These camping sites border onMashkinonje Provincial Park, one of Ontario’s newest ... morewildlife wilderness preserves, with over 40 kilometres of hiking trails.

Moose have occasionally been spotted wandering up to the edges of the camping area, perhaps enjoying some green grass and maybe a little people watching?

Our small, well-kept park comes with water and hydro hookups at each site. A few of the sites are equipped with sewer hook-ups for larger RVs. Our shower houses have plenty of hot water and flush toilets.

We have a total of twenty sites that can accommodate tents, small trailers, pop-ups and larger RVs. Firewood, ice and charcoal are available for purchase.

Campground guests can arrange to dock their private boats at our marina and may also rent one of our fishing boats.

These tents come complete with wood floors, rain flys, wood frame beds with foam mattresses and electric lighting. The tents also have small air-tight wood stoves so you can be warm and dry on cool wet days. You only have to bring your sleeping bags and equipment for outside cooking.

Enjoy all the fun of camping but without the hassle of putting up or taking down tents in the rain. No more sleeping on the hard ground.

MarinaComplete Marina with Boats, Gas & Bait! Our marina has docking that can accommodate up to forty boats; private boats are welcomed. Our fleet of rental boats is made up of ... moretraditional 18' cedar-strips, powered by dependable 15hp outboard motors. These traditional wood boats, dry and well maintained, were first built and designed for use on Lake Nipissing by Giesler and Sons Ltd. Our 18’ cedar-strips can accommodate up to 4 adults comfortably, although many of our guests prefer to fish 2-3 per boat. At dockside we sell live bait, gasoline, oil and ice.

Next to the gas-pump area (the oil-shed) is a well used part-cement boat ramp. After launching their boats, we ask our guests to please park their boat trailers in a designated area located towards the back of the campsites so we are not tripping over boat trailers all the time (especially after dark).

Located behind the "oilshed" is our fish cleaning hut, often in great demand. One complaint we sometimes hear is the wait-in-line to clean fish is too long. But that just means the fish are biting and no one complains too hard about that!

We discourage the use of sea-doos at Lakair. Our apologies if we offend anyone here but guests bringing along sea-doos is just not allowed here. This, not too difficult, decision was made as many of our guests like to sit quietly at dockside in the evening, watching the setting sun and listening to the gulls or loons calling. (Although outboard motors can be noisy usually it is only for the few moments it takes them to pass on by and they don’t tend to race around in circles for hours on end.)

On the same quiet and peaceful theme, we rent out rowboats, canoes and kayaks. Our kayaks are designed as "fishing-kayaks" with rod holders and bait wells. These are sit-on-top models and require little expedience in order to be enjoyed.
