1940-50's Box of about 2,000 KING Hand Laid Cuttyhunk Linen Fishing Line Labels.
There is at least about 2.000 labels in this large box"KING/ Genuine Hand Laid/ Linen Cuttyhunk/ Extra Strong/ Fish Line" with the picture of the jumping trout. It's a bright"metallic gold" finish. There is a problem with what I reckon about half of them have in various stages, a"blight" that sometimes happens on a metallic finish. I am showing one at its very worst and another(on the left side of the pair)just one spot, very minor. Many are perfect. Labels were made with no gum at back. SILK FLY LINE 5 WEIGHT DOUBLE TAPER 27 METERS ZHU'S
I bought this line several months ago to go with a bamboo fly rod I bought at the same time. I have cast this line on my lawn but it has never been fished. The line casts very nicely and it is in"like new" condition. I have decided to sell the bamboo rod. Also listed, because I like my graphite rods better. I know that's a sacrilege, but I'm working through it. I researched lines pretty well on the bamboo fishing forums and Zhu's line is well respected by the folks willing to fish silk that costs less than 300 bucks. This is the first silk line I have ever handled but I was impressed with the consistency of the tapers and general quality of the line. The"bamboo guys" on the forums recommended applying Mucilin(red label) to the line, which I did. I didn't know the line came with a nice tin of line dressing ... morewhich looks, feels and smells like Mucilin. It's easy to apply, gets you"in touch" with the line and makes it float higher.
