Louie Leach fish decoys are really great decorating items with bright colors and cool. Folky forms. The minis like this one were made to be hung on mobiles that Mr. Leach made and are unweighted. This one was never hung and is just about as cute as it can be. The length is 2 1/4" and it is painted red and blue black accents and blue map pin eyes. The condition is excellent and original. Vintage/ Antique Ice Fishing Green Cream Spearing Decoy Minnesota
This is a wonderful old 4" green. White and red spearing decoy found in Minnesota. It appears to be in very good structural condition and excellent original paint. He has some sort of tack eyes with metal fins. He has a metal loop on top, 2 metal tacks in the bottom and an inset lead ballast weight. Gordon Swenatron is an obscure fish decoy carver whose decoys are excellent. Original works of art with outstanding folk art qualities and decorator appeal. 1950s LEROY HOWELL SILVER PIKE~FOLK ART FISH SPEARING DECOY~ICE FISHING LURE
This classic. Old spearing decoy dates to about 1950 and was found in Minnesota. It was made by legendary, old time fish decoy maker Leroy Howell. Howell decoys are included in all major collectors reference books on the subject and are highly collectible. This example measures 7" long and has this carver's signature, double incised eyes. As you see, the decoy has some added green and orange accent painting and a silver sequence over each eye but the silver paint on the body is original. There is also a small flake missing on the right side of the tail. This is very common to see in Howell decoys with the large, sweeping, wooden tails. 1950 GREEN & WHITE WORKER~FOLK ART FISH SPEARING DECOY~ICE FISHING LURE
This authentic and folky fish spearing decoy has wonderful age and excellent patina. It comes from a time when living off the land was a way of life for many in northern Minnesota. The length is measures 8 1/4" and the decoy is painted in pea green and white. There is some spritzing of red on one side that is probably not original. The most interesting thing about this fish is the unusual. Hand cast lead weight that is attached to the belly. It certainly appears to be original and kind of gives the decoy an interesting look. 1940s MICHIGAN PIKE~FOLK ART FISH SPEARING DECOY~WINTER ICE FISHING LURE
This wonderfully folky Michigan Pike measures 8" long and is painted in a bright shade of pea green with a gray belly. The eyes are painted gray around a blue pupil. The decoy is in beautiful. Original condition with just the right amount of light wear and normal paint loss to the metal fins. The double dorsal fin really adds a nice element of visual appeal and collectibility. There was a belief by the former owner that this may be an early work by Isaac Goulette. I am not able to confirm this based on my experience with this carvers work but it is certainly worth consideration. The decoy has a wonderful form and great configuration. His style sets him apart from the rest of the early Newberry carvers and is one of the primary early Michigan Carvers. Hello. Up for consideration is an old working- silver. Black and white pike made by Frank Mizera(1898-1969) who was from Ely, MN. As you can see from the photos, it has lots of wear and a damaged/missing tail. It has seen many days in the dark house. The side fins are all original. And it has the white fish-on-fish designs on the top of the fish and along the sides. It has a single tie line, carved(or tack) eyes, and signature sloped-nose. It is very dirty, but I didn't want to clean it, i'll leave it up to it's new owner. The decoy has flaws as the pictures show, but here's a chance to get a Frank Mizera at a reduced cost. Hello. Up for consideration is a vintage working fish spearing decoy that I have been told is Native American in origin. It was found in northern Minnesota. And is currently missing the original metal tail, and eyes(likely beads/the tiny nails are still present) It was never painted, and has an incised mouth, carved gills, and scales. There is an age split on the bottom from the lead to the tail area. The fins are original, and are made from old tobacco tin cans. This decoy definitely has character, and has seen many days under the ice. It is 5 1/2" long, and retains a wonderful patinated surface.
