For the first time, the Civitates provided an extensive series of town views with the goal of rendering ... morethem in an accurate and meaningful way. Earlier collections of town views were far more limited in scope, and often made no real attempt to render cities with any degree of fidelity. These works were more often an attempt to show that cities existed than to illustrate the form they took, and they normally contained no more than a handful of views. The Civitates, by contrast, included hundreds of views, many showing smaller towns for which no earlier topographical studies are known. Even for the larger, important cities, such as Paris, the Civitates was of the utmost importance in tracing the history of their topography. New Jersey. It was photographed inside plastic to protect it which is why you see reflections in the pictures. I included a photo of the list of parks shown on the map. There is a paragraph underneath the map that sounds like this map was from a time when the park system was still developing the parks. It says estimated that the population of Union County will be 830,000 in 1965. Also that as of this map, The above map shows the location and size of ten main projects totaling 3,925 acres of which ninety per cent has been acquired and partially developed so that 1,307,670 persons made use of the various recreational ... morefacilities during the year 1927. Paper is a tan color and measures 12 3/4" by 10 7/8" Map paper is thin and somewhat fragile. Condition notations include: a small hole in center where the folds come together on seam, snips and clips on edges, rip along seam on right side about 2" but no paper is missing, some paper toning and marks here and there. 1940 Framed Map of Cazenovia Lake New York by Mary Frances Ferris
This was done by M. Frances Ferris in 1940. This may be a print of the original but I believe is still from 1940. It is in it's original nice antique oak frame. This was framed and possibly printed at The Andersons Frame& Print Shop at 49 Sullivan Street Cazenovia, New York. I looked up Mary Frances Ferris, she was head of the local history and genealogy department of the Syracuse Public Library System 1922-58. I also did a search of 49 Sullivan Street in Cazenovia and found out that a Anderson family did live at that address a very long time ago which is a house built in the year 1860. No mention of it ever being a business but the name Anderson had owned it at one time, no mention of the years owned. The condition of the map is excellent. It is amazing condition for the age with no real issues other than some light wrinkles. The ... morepaper is light brown. Not yellow.
